Tonight on the docket at the president met -- his jobs and Competitiveness Council a group made up of 26 leaders from the business sector.
All appointed by the president.
Yeah second meeting with President Obama the -- suggested -- promote more government backed loans.
To small business I bet that'll be well received by the president.
It means that of a private bank teams alone too risky to grant we taxpayers are forced to bear the burden of that and risk and foot the bill.
Haven't we tried this nonsense before.
More on that in just a minute but first we turn to the GO PH -- -- twelve primary race tonight.
Those looking to challenge and unseat President Obama face off in their second nationally televised debate.
These debates offer voters a chance to hear from a wide range of candidates and decide who will be the most successful Republican in challenging the president's -- -- twelve.
Unfortunately my next -- despite its popularity despite his limited government leanings and despite his political and integrity and despite his record.
Will not be included in that debate.
The freedom -- is door is always open to defenders of freedom here now former New Mexico Republican governor Gary Johnson.
Governor Johnson welcome here are welcome back to freedom watch.
-- judge thanks for.
Having me on and I got to tell you have always been a believer in the system and right now I'm not such a believer in the system I I never envisioned being.
Excluded from the table of debate and here it is -- Swing -- why -- why do you think -- really being excluded and why have.
They told you there excluding.
Well hi I just I I can't help but so halfway think that it's because of what I'm saying and what I'm saying really is different.
Then now what's being said out there I am advocating a balanced budget in year 2013.
I believe that -- on the verge of a financial collapse given -- our deficits.
I'm advocating an elimination of the corporate income tax we really want to talk about a stab pushing jobs.
Best government as government that rules least.
Best government as the government that empowers you and I had to be the individuals that we choose to be.
And government has a role in all this too and I'll just use the environmental department as an example you know there -- as governor of New Mexico there was some bad actors celebrate somebody's got to set some rules and regulations or otherwise we're gonna all.
Live lower qualities of life because there are polluters out there there are.
Intrigued by the decision by these folks at CNN.
Michelle Bachmann who hasn't even announced that she's running.
They've invited by -- colleague Mike Huckabee who specifically announce that he's not running.
And they won't permit you or at least equal in the polls to some of the folks appearing there tonight.
Is that perhaps because you and Ron Paul.
Represent a government with limited behavior that stays within the confines of the constitution.
That stays up a people's backs and that crowd at CNN doesn't wanna -- -- much of that.
I have to believe that you know this isn't about just winning nomination on the Republican side having run for governor of New Mexico.
In a state that's two to one Democrats it was actually.
You know winning the primary.
But then it was going on in winning a general election I always like to point out.
-- do you talk about rules and regulations are about government passing laws all the time judge -- vetoed all -- and I know you're aware of that but I -- that panel legislation.
All the time that's what I made a name for myself -- was saying no to bigger government.
I can't help but think that that's that that's.
It is is that the reason I'm being left off the stage I am I -- there.
Gos that the fact that I've always believed in the system the system is cracking the door.
You know what just cracked the door and then depending on my gumption all of our.
All of the efforts that we make we make the most out of that cracked or -- -- doors not cracked it's it's closed and it's actually lock.
Are saying the talk of the town is that governor Johnson is not here because CNN wasn't permitted so I I hope it makes him pay for them.
To -- a switch into some specific issues this past weekend the government leaked that if the debt ceiling is raised it needs to borrow.
In order to pay what it wants to pay 600.
In the month of August alone that's tough to say that with a straight face this would break all records were all borrowing.
In the history of the country if they were to borrow that much money in one month.
I can't I mentioned that -- Johnson sure injury secretary.
Would even contemplate such a thing.
But if somehow you were in the White House today or tomorrow.
What would you tell secretary Geithner what would you do with the bureaucrats what would you say to the congress.
When they presented this option a -- -- this much money.
I think that we issue needs to be forced I would not raise the debt ceiling I think you can accomplish.
Don't raise the debt ceiling force this issue as painful as it's going to be as difficult as it's going to be to deal with this.
It'll never be easier than to deal with it now.
So whether that's a balanced budget amendment abolish the Federal Reserve.
Don't allow us to prince any more money.
This is what needs to happen and for all of the pain and suffering that'll go along with this.
It'll never be easier than now and we've got to do it now -- we're gonna find ourselves.
With a currency that isn't worth anything.
Governor -- the president start a war on his own.
Without a declaration of war from the congress without even consulting the congress.
As president of the United States I think that's one of the most important checks.
That needs to be implement it.
I can't imagine myself getting involved in Libya.
I can't imagine myself in involving ourselves in what might be five other countries right now in the Middle East.
But qualify for that same intervention based on that I'd get out of -- Iraq and Afghanistan tomorrow.
And with regard to all those military interventions I was supportive.
Of what we did in Afghanistan.
We were attacked we attacked back but after six months of being in Afghanistan we had effectively wiped out al-Qaeda.
Here it is where their ten years later we're building roads schools bridges highways and hospitals.
And we're borrowing and printing money that tune of 43 cents on every dollar to do that come on stop.
Got a governor before I let you go you're gonna watch that debate tonight already have more important things that so.
You know this is -- probably be a lame and but I think it's an obligation that I have I'm gonna watch it and -- and actually tape my own response to these.
To the questions and put it on my website Gary Johnson 2012.
Governor it's a pleasure hero's welcome and thanks for joining us.
Thank you very much I feel welcome.
Today the president her recommendations.
