The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention today announcing three people in this country are -- -- Ill from the same -- -- -- bacteria.
That has killed at least seventeen people in Europe joining us now to talk about that is doctor Mark Siegel Fox News medical contributor the author of in her pulse.
Doctor great to have you with us over the city this is this is nasty stuff -- -- of the call -- as I understand it has never been seen before.
This is a brand new straighten -- E.
Coli is a back through the shape of a rod.
It's changing all the time mutating.
It grows inside the intestines of cows and we're busy feeding cows grain which makes their intestines more acidic we give them antibiotics.
They get more and more resistant bacteria this is one of the nasty it's it's produces a toxin it isn't the bacteria itself against people sick.
It's the toxin so that E.
-- gets out into the manure into the Rainwater into the crops it gets into our vegetables people eat it.
They get sick the toxin in this case of over 15100 people being sick -- over 400 have gotten a severe kidney failure as a result.
This is bad stuff the only -- very small amount of this bacteria to get sick.
And kidney failure and is.
And is fatal in many case many cases at least the dialysis and almost all cases this particular type it's what's cause we can be able to -- It's causing a tremendous amount of fear I like to say that the second pass -- pathogens here is fear Russia is not importing.
Vegetables right now from the entire European Union.
United Arab Arab emirates is not.
Importing cucumbers.
We're seeing this much fear is the United States the United States is actually -- you concerned about -- -- the FDA does not do a great job the FDA has -- war wild sea organization when it comes to food safety.
They're not you know a kid they may look at 2% of the vegetables coming in here it's -- the -- we are so the biggest problem here -- the three people that you talked about that were traveling in Spain.
And brought it back here it's the people that could be eating produce from here we can't get rid of about washing our hands we can't get rid of -- -- washing vegetables.
We've got to really watch the food that's coming in here.
And what about these three people is it contained had they expose others as far as we know do you know that's a great question the answer is it's easier to get it from vegetables -- person to person but yes you can get -- from food handlers yes if someone.
Hasn't you something disinfect their hands they can spread it that way.
And -- and the likelihood here is that there could be significant economic impact.

Coli strains common goal but they're getting worse and worse and worse and this is one of the worst ones we've seen and we've only seen the beginning of -- get it's gonna affect thousands of people before it starts to Arab and then.
