Country music continues to have a strong presence on the music tax which -- been translating into being sales.
Artists have the fans to thank and they don't forget it.
Steve Moore is -- CEO of the Country Music Association he joins us with more re happy you.
Great thanks for having me OK so the tough economy so how's the country music industry -- up.
Well I'll tell you what fans are bullish on country music I'll tell -- that.
-- what is is it about country music fans they seem to be more dedicated than the average.
Fan across the board -- know the big country music festival is coming up in attendance is expected to be as robust as ever.
Our attendance is going to be fantastic this year into it to your question you know over the years the country music fans have always been the most loyal.
-- -- the artists throughout the years they continue support.
Their particular artist and the format so we've we've seen tremendous growth in the format.
As indicative by a lot of things are going on and the music today with American Idol and some of the -- -- playing stadiums today so it's very robust actually.
Why is that because you know there are some challenges out there people ought to pay so much money for the gallon of gas these days the unemployment picture's.
Is quite depressing yet -- still willing to shell out dollars for things like that Country Music Association festival I mean are you able to charge the same for a ticket this year -- last say.
-- -- actually our ticket prices have remained fairly constant we -- like some changes throughout the year and in the scaling.
Of the stadium shows that we do but we also offer a lot of free music on the various stages -- downtown Nashville.
But yes RR ticket prices remained constant and one point is that.
Although the the economies -- little bit tough we've noticed that the fans are awaiting a little bit later to make those purchases but listen they're not gonna go that -- country music.
And the opportunity to see these artists should be close to home and get autographs.
And come to the what is probably the longest running music event in the United States we're experiencing our fortieth anniversary of fanfare this year actually.
You mentioned earlier American Idol how to the boost has that been Kelly Clarkson Wright is involved or -- singing in a country.
A country do wet Carrie Underwood a winner.
Tremendous tremendous support well any time you have.
That many eyeballs on an artist and expose -- music obviously it makes them an impact.
In the marketplace.
We're thrilled to have those artists you know through that medium but.
The story as you know country radio still vibrant.
In the United States we have still over 2000 active.
Radio stations playing country music so.
It is it is still a very vibrant format.
