Tonight on the dock at the government giving guns to Mexican drug gangs a possible presidential contender a new contender.

And the failure and hypocrisy of the left when it comes to the Patriot Act is.

-- Giuliani the former mayor of New York City throwing his hat into the ring for the Republican presidential nomination.

The political rumor mill is right -- an announcement that may be imminent Juan Williams is here and he'll break down the former New York City mayor's chances -- victory.

But first we turned her shocking story of government gone wrong.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Has a project called a program called.

Project gun runner that actually gives Mexican drug dealers American guns.

Yes you heard that right our government is giving criminals guns and what's worse is that -- of these guns were recovered of them murder scene of -- United States Border Patrol agent.

-- -- charity who was killed in a gun fight with drug dealers our next guest is a plan to stop this madness.

Here now Iowa Republican senator.

Chuck Grassley.

Senator Grassley when you were here -- we're telling us about this awful program.

And which the bureau of firearms tobacco alcohol and explosives -- they may have changed a little bit.

-- knowingly allowed dangerous weapons into the hands of Mexican gangs and your efforts.

Through the assistance of one of their own agents a guy named.

Do you know any more now about this awful program than you did when you were last on freedom march.

I do not know I'm still being stonewalled exactly the same way.

However I have had the opportunity.

Along with congressman -- -- staff to send my staff to Arizona.

To do a lot of investigation.

And I am keeping in touch and having regular communications.

With -- whistle borders but from.

-- from the people like the attorney general and the director of B.

ATF.

We're -- completely stonewalled completely contrary.

To what they have as a constitutional responsibility.

To respond to questions from -- -- Plano most respectfully why should you have to conduct your own investigation -- in the congress have to send.

Your staff to Arizona why -- -- summon.

Attorney general holder or the director of the FA TF to appear before you under oath to give you documents -- answer your questions.

Because I'm a Republican and I'm in the minority and I'm not a chairman and I can issue subpoenas.

But that is the advantage -- -- and -- congressman -- -- Hell he is in the majority in the house represented he's he has issues as being as and he has gotten some information.

But let me tell you -- where I get my information I get a lot of documents clandestinely.

From whistle blowers and quite frankly -- the very same documents that I send to the Justice Department said this is what I'm asking you for.

How bad is this problem.

Of the ATF knowingly.

Letting guns get in the hands of murderous killers.

Is it's still going on or have they admitted that they at least stop this.

Well they haven't admitted any thing but we think that they have stopped at.

And I -- and because of the embarrassment that come when these guns ended up murdering.

You you -- one -- their Border Patrol agents write mr.

Kerry.

I know you didn't want to go here last time and I'm gonna ask you again.

Is it time for Eric Holder didn't go he won't answer your questions he claims he knows nothing about it and these people work for him.

Well let me tell you what we're doing to try to get their attention and I think we've gotten their attention but they're trying to more around behind didn't work around me.

And that is we're holding up the nomination of the deputy attorney general.

And we kept that nomination from getting sixty votes to move forward a couple weeks ago now they're trying to negotiate whether it's.

But it just seems like you know why should you have to negotiate we want documents we want public records.

We wanted to keep their word to was there when they come up here for confirmation two years -- go to be in the presidential candidate.

We ask them would you answer questions for congress and they say yes we'll answer -- for congress and then they turn outlined to us.

Right and as senator this is not a Republican or democratic issue this is a human life issue.

What -- the Democrats in the senate doing about this don't tell me nothing don't tell me they don't care because Eric Holder of Barack Obama -- Democrats.

Are on.

I'm not going to tell you that they don't care but I have not seen any help.

From Democrats in the congress.

On this particular issue.

God I'm going to conclude that they don't care because of Harry Reid.

Or or or pat Leahy I think who is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee -- and those subpoenas would be there you're investigators would be serving them the force of law would compel compliance with the am -- right.

Tell us garbage you get to standards as far as the Democrats are concerned I remember when I was in the Bush Administration.

Our congressman when bush was presenter I was asking.

Questions of different kinds of investigations but I'm a great investigator.

You know all I have a lot of help from Democrats were when you get a Democrat president you don't get the same amount of help -- time.

-- and -- -- who chairs I think that government oversight committee.

In the House of Representatives will he issue -- subpoenas for you what he -- to sit with that committee and interrogate Eric Holder when he shows up in compliance.

I don't know about the latter but he doesn't have to have -- subpoenas issued in my name because he and -- after kind of the same document.

So when he issues a subpoena in his own name it's helping me indirectly.

Senator Grassley it's a terrible intractable problem we want you to keep coming back.

And keep reporting to us even if there's no progress -- when you have little snippets of progress any documents you want us to put on the strain yourself in the mirror above the out.

Well we'll do that and my bottom line is the public's business.

Ought to be probably and transparency brings accountability.

Senator Chuck Grassley from Iowa thanks for joining us thank you.

Republican congressman.
