Well fans of the Indy 500 are breathing a sigh of relief the big races this weekend and what of its biggest stars came close to missing it.

Danica Patrick almost had to sit this one out but after her car finally passed inspection she managed to qualify but she still has tough competition.

In the form of Dario Franchitti.

Going for his second straight Indy 500 win and third overall they both.

Join us now to area that I said Daria Dolan gave the English accent and -- -- yeah Jackson -- it like this guy's got to see you both thanks for coming.

Danica I've got it straight up a lot of people wondered whether you're going to be staying with the -- the thing going over to next.

Scarf -- -- I gotta get it out of the way what's the latest on the net.

There's no answer on that it's I think it's it's way too early to know that there's this these things take time and they they you know I just don't know yet.

For those -- -- don't know what we're talking about by the way Danica is in the Indy 500 races but she also races part time I guess it's fair to say -- -- -- And the question is whether you go full time -- -- car and and a lot of people.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Why and why I wanted to go and try something different and I realized pretty quickly we're talking about this today and that quickly and as I -- driving because that's what does -- mean wanted to -- because they're faster or what the faster and it it it that's what -- me and some people like guidance folk are more.

Indy cars what does it -- me and I'm -- -- should be the average speed and Craig if I'm wrong but 224.

Miles per hour 224 point 861.

If you want to be a fine point her about it.

That's the average for these open open wheel races -- -- credible poll was 227.

And eight to 27 wow that and NASCAR would be to what really that -- forty miles per hour slower than men.

Yet they're so could you deal you know with Wesley got -- -- more fun to do -- Eat in there's nothing like threading in because there's nothing like driving an -- a car the sensation that it has it's like nothing else -- and I think that's what makes this so hard for drivers -- com.

And driving IndyCar and doing it because it does it it will do so -- so many unbelievable things -- -- -- imagine.

But you know stop car racing is fun I like to get out there highlights a bump around -- I like to -- -- the way that the cars change over the race throughout each stint that you run and this just a lot going on so.

And the clouds are faster but isn't the crowd more fun with with NASCAR I mean it's a different it's it's a slightly different crowds -- and then cried but the IndyCar fans -- -- they -- -- we're gonna 350000.

Of them should not for an Indy 500 wow.

It is 360000.

Unbelievable.

It's a big -- event and it's a hundredth anniversary so it's even more special so.

Everybody out there that it wants to an Indy 500 this -- extra special is there are cultural difference though between -- current Indy.

Terms of the people who watch and and the racers themselves -- You know the racers there's definitely a lot more foreign drivers yet in one -- month.

There are worse they're not American in an announcement there are a lot of American drivers as far as the fans go.

I personally think that you don't -- their great fans in both places and in NASCAR -- a lot so they get to a lot of markets and you know they generate a lot of fans but -- there's definitely some core open will fans that are.

Total diehards that there's NASCAR diehard -- still and who love their shanties and you know our and that then they all -- that.

The thing about NASCAR's that we can identify what it is sort of like you know I can identify much for basketball players but I can -- baseball players because they look more like me.

You know there might size there might weighted -- NASCAR's -- is is similar to attack course that you drive.

And -- and often close.

They they look a little bit outside and look at but.

You know that ultimately be Indy cars would -- -- -- -- -- was.

The NASCAR's more like flying 747 currencies that.

The closest thing and like -- that I.

Me I -- revenues are right this weekend what's gonna happen any ideas besides affect people think you're gonna win.

-- -- Well I've got to look a lot more work to do it was drama filled weekend of qualifying for.

For myself had a great week leading up -- -- but it all fell apart so.

Have to look back the pieces now and it makes for extra work for race day and there's only one more hour of practice in.

While you're working on qualifying you're not working on race car so unfortunately way to get a lot of practice but.

That's I'm not gonna start making excuses now it's time -- -- buckle down and use my experience and the experience that I have those resources on the team and and get to work -- either 500 miles it's not a short rates.

Neither one of you look particularly nervous -- you look.

Positively relax the race is almost a week away.

Gonna have to fight my job was to trying to target current victory lane and that's that's what we do we managed to do last yet.

My teammate Scott -- start -- the federal we were looking for from -- run out of fuel and qualifying.

We'll hope from the mistakes of Sunday we'll see what happens when that's -- service.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
