A stimulus October electric cars abroad to different houses -- charges faces six states needs to jump itself.
At least an -- where zero of the plan 11100 public stations have even been installed.
And it's about a hundred million dollars as the most money paying for -- still work to grains as my next guest.
So the former mayor of San Francisco company.
Lieutenant governor -- the whole whole state of California Gavin -- lieutenant governor good to have you.
Good to be here thanks -- It is sold green -- in trouble.
Quite the contrary in fact in California -- to stay between 1995 and 2006 the green economy grew at 56.
Percent the overall economy at 18% just the last two years in this depth of the economic recession green collar jobs grew three times the rate of overall job growth so.
And what's happening -- -- -- and then why is none of the money you're getting you're gonna doing the job.
Sounds like some bureaucratic incompetence a lot of finger pointing an excuse making I mean here at San Francisco as you said former mayor San Francisco.
We're trying to lead not just this state but this nation in building -- ubiquitous infrastructure.
For electric vehicles the challenges to have standardized charging stations and were rolling out I know just in this city ripe for a left -- announced over a hundred -- stations.
That will be in place in just the next few months including interestingly -- The first battery powered switch stations the idea of actually taking a battery out of a car less find that it takes -- Fill up a tank of gas -- first taxicabs in the country they'll run purely -- You are very -- still believe that uncertainty wearing governor that maybe people are stepping back from this is that -- -- -- the goals meritorious.
The -- quantitative blood for plugging in the -- sensitivity and of people are saying you know.
Don't need it not now not have.
Now just the opposite I mean the whole issue concern around electric vehicles as range anxiety of course we'd have that same range anxiety if we don't have gas stations everywhere.
So it's -- same principle building electric vehicle.
And charging stations you got fast charging now you can do it at home I'm like gas stations you don't have a gas station and -- You can pump overnight so to speak and so.
I believe -- that you're seeing real leadership in cities large and small across the country in municipal fleets and now we're seeing with the Nissan leaf and.
Said the well they all these but -- and has -- -- you're getting a kick in the -- from this plan.
That that just won't dying to charge folks by the miles so even if you have a fuel efficient vehicle.
You're still -- -- -- that viewed as a California no better than many how far a lot of your Californian.
Drivers drive and then that would zoom whether they have one of these plug in cars organize around.
That for ten years electric car I get to zoom right by at a gas stations.
So you as everybody everybody euphoria I don't know I got an -- tonight a mile governance a moot point.
That's not somewhere promoting -- California I know it's on life support somewhere.
In Washington and in terms of the way folks are used as a deadly shooting at a dead yesterday and you know or I -- movement in a different direction we've got AB 32 were moving towards -- economy low carbon green growth.
California's leadership has been demonstrated we're about to get really go on in the next few years.
On T think there's something going on in this district -- regulated Republicans seems to be catching fire.
On views that are well Republican conservatives in and it's enormously democratic.
Districts are you worried.
Now I mean you know yes and now look at the end of the day I'm a Democrat were in control we've got the governor's office we've got all the constitutional offices the assembly in the senate.
We got to perform so.
You know I'm not interest in and who's to blame in terms of economic -- I agree.
-- price point the economy is the number one challenge we face outside these deficits and unfunded liabilities but it.
We got to perform -- -- we demonstrate our capacity to do that in this state that always be concerned but I'm not concerned about that district -- three strong.
Democrats running against each other they split the vote he snuck in there I want be too concerned that that's gonna turn right.
Armed I'd be remiss I don't wanna throw just a -- -- here but the whole Arnold Schwarzenegger.
He's surprised what do you make of that -- contact one of them.
What I -- I haven't been Maria Shriver is a good friend and I worked closely with Arnold even as -- even -- he was a different party it's sad just in terms of human.
Aside -- this and you know like everything you don't know what's really happened every day there's something new to learn but in again and instead of casting aspersions it's important -- Remember there's real human beings here innocent folks real.
Real lives and so I just I wish everybody the best it's frustrating and I know we tend.
Play these things out and they they have a life span and hopefully this.
Well will be a shorter lifespan the most so we can move back to more important discussions alright John -- lieutenant governor thank you very Vermont's could have him.
