Eric Cantor is.
Congressman represented in Virginia's.
Seventh district and he joins -- morning congressman.
I'm fine -- as good morning I would want to take this opportunity.
To apologize for being -- -- -- -- but yesterday we -- congressman winner on.
And I was exactly the same amount of time California -- Fair about -- it's a good equal opportunity always -- -- -- but still he had general of a menace was -- longer than.
All of these all the digital but it the so you're responsible presence of -- lasted -- I miss you know we know the president can give a good speech and last night was no exception.
You know he talked about better future and as a parent of three teenagers.
Certainly that's a priority for me.
I can tell you there are plenty of areas of disagreement that I have with the president.
-- I want to cut more spending than he does I have a lot of differences in terms of the health care system in this country and how I think we can make it better.
But you know the president did talk about some things.
That I think we can work together -- he talked about lowering the corporate tax rate to trying create jobs in this country.
He talks about simplifying the tax -- He also said that we need to work together to try and produce these free trade agreements and improve them.
These are all things we can.
Do together if we're results oriented to try and create more jobs and to give the private sector some confidence that we're gonna get our fiscal house in order.
Wonder somebody demonstrators and you propose to the present.
There's just occurred to me and -- proposed.
Off a better future that's pretty hard to be against that -- about a real well.
-- -- -- Absolutely it's like motherhood and apple -- And that's why I really think that after the speech last night.
You go back to -- axiom that actions speak louder than words.
So we -- all going to look very closely to see what this White House actually proposes.
We in the house are very committed.
To try and slash spending to try and get rid of the regulations that are impeding growth in this economy.
So that we can restores prosperity in America.
You know -- the White House the president you know they've not yet stepped up to say look we are gonna put as a priority.
Not just freezing spending because that's what we need to do.
-- or Johnson or -- -- an arms program that now.
There's probably simple minded to fine -- here's -- -- -- -- -- If if the government weren't able that your guys but in congress.
Were able just sort -- all of the waste.
Now I understand that these various programs.
And some say even some earmarks and some pork programs.
And mother in terms of how one feels about -- for the very important but -- we were just able to -- waste that the amount of money.
This wasted on these various programs they're programs Everyman all -- but still could could be done much more economically we -- balance -- budget.
Is that -- night leave viewers -- true.
Well look we've got to start somewhere and and as you know I miss the Republicans in the house have banned earmarks.
And so right then and there there's a sixteen billion dollar attempts to try and say stop this spending.
And so there are issues that are far beyond just earmarks.
There are issues there are far beyond just that kind of spending we're talking about in the house.
When we say we want to bring spending levels down to 2008 levels or less and will do that.
Within the next couple weeks with the spending bill that'll be brought to the floor.
But we have much larger issues but did this is a starting place for us.
In order to go and signaled to.
The people of this country as well as investors that the federal government actually gonna get its act together and and maintain a fiscally responsible course.
But really -- I think I speak for most people that I that I represent by saying it is high time that Washington get down to business and do this.
Are you not answer my question that it caused.
-- you don't want true or untrue all right 'cause I -- I want all of your friends.
Part true because I was ten minutes late getting injured -- -- all let me ask if -- got out what is and isn't there is -- naive of me to -- and others to think.
If we just eliminated the waste in government that's my question that we can balance because.
Well thank you Auburn in the made the ways anyway and -- people go around saying we can balance the budget that is by getting -- ways.
I think you know again -- -- -- -- starting point that's not solve all the problems because we have done -- we mentioned you know -- such a hole.
Right that we have dug ourselves such a hole.
With these you know it's sort of entitlements and the culture that has been bred.
You know that what we've got some more structural things to address we look at the latest entitlement obamacare.
That's a bill obviously that we believe that will bankrupt this country if we don't stop.
As we've got a lot of work to do waste fraud and abuse is certainly where we need to start.
To cut it down because -- -- in the private sector right now -- -- small business person you're not going to be able to afford the kind of waste that occurs here in Washington.
And that we've got to go about.
Echoing in the making those kind of steps to get rid of the ways but I'm as we got a lot more to do than that.
To cordial and our documents those slightly irritated -- -- the -- around the house suffers just a conversion and iron in the clutch and I was lied to house and those vote.
How did get our out of the news media become aware.
That you and asked.
Answered more suited -- try your prom date for last night as businesses -- off.
Well listen I have I really don't know how about some works in this town.
But you know Nancy Pelosi I stood me up for Roscoe Bartlett.
He's a great guy.
There -- other fish in the sea for me so I had a very little time affable.
Affable seat mate I sat next to my neighbor.
The democratic congressman who represents.
The other ports in the city of Richmond.
My question is -- -- -- not -- on to become common to become.
Public as I looked like a loser with.
I mean I just say that driven economy -- get Jamie -- did bit.
Did did your did your parents tell you -- that you never.
Can find out or know -- pass.
Yes they do -- to listen.
But they were spot but they used to try to find out ahead of times it'll make up for yourself.
They listen and wait you know and -- -- -- fascination.
With all the -- patterns.
Around the state of the union that somehow.
Grew out of discussions with -- your colleagues in the -- and elsewhere but one that I do think that.
I do -- last night the tenor of the event was a bit different.
And it all seriousness because we are you know just in the aftermath of those very tragic incidents.
In Tucson and we're all hoping for recovery of our colleague Gabby Giffords.
But I do think that coupled with the fact that we've got some serious challenges to face together in this country.
That you did have -- and most serious tone in last night's state in the union address.
So I'll probably -- -- go to their -- to run amounts found.
We'll find -- -- born again -- -- I was lighted so.
-- I don't know I just gel as a mom I'm like you guys like to have discipline myself with the zone with the resistance I'm -- -- sad.
I was like you -- -- equal opportunity -- rover units aren't -- general thank you very much are scattered as Barbara.
