Wow so you're saying they you in -- do you want.
The government to take control of health care in this country in drive out private insurers.
-- what I what I said is that I have confidence in their superiority.
-- public plan.
But that's because over the years what we've seen as the private insurance industry with its double digit inflation and the cost of insurance every year.
That has really price most Americans out of the market are certainly millions and millions of them.
And so I think we need the choice it's about choice and competition.
And I think that if the private health insurance industry wants the immediate -- that it's getting down to shape up there's no question.
It congressman congresswoman thank you for joining us you know it as a non Republican and non Democrat.
And basically trying to figure out my future of health care.
Both sides of those of the -- -- scaring the heck out of me whether we go to wait one Payer system or whether we sort of had this hybrid thing.
It's still the insurance companies that are coming to you guys.
And getting their words heard and lobbying in changing we're now setting up laws that will benefit the insurance companies -- health care companies the hospitals.
And what about me the put the patient.
I couldn't I couldn't agree with you more and that's why.
This Health Care Reform is going to set -- standards it's gonna say how much that they can't exclude you if you have a prior condition.
That there's going to be a set of benefits that are gonna need to be covered I want it to people who are -- a 101000.
Deductible a farmer the other day William -- -- not have any health insurance at all.
For most things -- -- what we want to do is set up a choice between them made public.
Health insurance option or -- private.
But to set the parameters so that they can't continue to rip off the public.
People need to have their healthcare it's a crisis not just of the uninjured -- a crisis of the insurance alcohol.
But if the answer more government involvement and you know -- Based on your past voting you voted for the -- twice this stimulus plan the bonus taxer Karl we're pumping all this money into the economy.
I'm not sure it's getting us anywhere.
All this government involvement had the -- hasn't gotten us anywhere.
So how can we be sure that -- getting the government in my doctor's office is not going to make me more sick.
Well I'll tell you what you've been asked people who are Medicare.
People who are -- Medicare and I have people coming into my office every day saying I hope I can make it till I'm 65 years old.
Don't tell you that bill Medicare has you know doesn't cover everything that they love their Medicare because it has this.
Protection for them.
On the health care that they that they need so we have a lot of experience with the public health care plan the veterans administration.
Com and even Medicaid for low income people the government is very experience and running health care.
Congresswoman however it.
How would hint is I mean that's part small segment of the population -- were talking now.
About the entire country do you really think it's appropriate for the government to run -- health care system rather than to leave it you are.
-- market system -- capitalist system.
What about senator Schumer -- idea of saying yes and we do have the public version -- well may be an expanded version of of Medicare they have to abide by the same rules and regulations as private health companies.
Exactly I would put it another way I would say private health companies have to abide by the same rules as as a public plan.
Fair enough if people want to keep their health insurance their employer provided health insurance they're happy with the coverage they have by all means.
They should be able to choose that.
But some of the Republicans are saying -- we don't want to give people a choice of a public health care plan.
-- and and I think that that's line that we ought to have that competition and that that will in fact.
-- studies have shown help keep the price of the overall program down.
That they -- they'll be out competition on cost and coverage and I think that's a really good American idea.
Congresswoman I just had about 1015 seconds left for your final answer -- telling me that this is then actually constitutional.
It's no less constitutional.
That not then then Medicare which is a great tradition process.
I -- that you guys are just supposed to guarantee that my contracts are always sacred.
