I'm Barbara Tuchman is who is he knew that.
He definitely -- -- -- bad -- -- story I saw Hulk Hogan my mother took me to a wrestling event at a local high school before I was all well and -- what was his name look Lizzy Lizzy Terry -- it was a hot lips back to.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- And low life behind my body to -- -- -- And what does it was it to help -- -- -- you have to -- time.
Robert is the author of course the 100 sporting events you must see live.
In one of those might be -- Super -- -- 2014 there's a cover of the book because it's going to be in the US allies say.
This is great for anybody traveling because New York is not like other cold cities.
Green Bay even Denver which is a great city great deal -- vacation spot in the wintertime it's New -- -- -- from Cincinnati Saint Louis wherever you're from.
You don't care if it's cold here it's New York you're still gonna come here in early.
February regional group that I Chris totally agree it's a destination itself and I really think there's only one NFL city cold weather city.
That could host this type of event and and as we all know the super ball.
It's not just about those couple hours during the game it's about that entire week in New York has so much to offer.
That you don't need to go golf I don't need to go fishing which a lot of people who come in for the game like to do in these other markets so this -- -- it's going to be incredible I'm really looking.
But is it a money maker I mean because we you reported a all to the Olympics that hosting the Olympics just kills it doesn't cost a ton of money.
I had an interview this morning with the mayor of East Rutherford and he said it cost us money where it's gonna cost us money because nobody's gonna.
-- -- tourist spots in Jersey right you're gonna hundreds -- the city.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Anyway it's funny because I saw that interview and I read something where he's the -- he's putting himself out there the the mayor he wants tickets this super strict Bloomberg's gonna get them Chris Christie right I'm not gonna get an -- my recliner.
But here's the difference the difference is this.
With an event like the Olympics of the World Cup these cities like Vancouver South Africa they had to build a lot of infrastructure easily -- a lot of money in.
But here with the Super Bowl basically.
The building has already been built you know by the jets and giants and and PS cells of course so really they're just going to be taking in.
A lot of money from you know hotels restaurants.
Transportation companies events blah -- block.
But really at the end of the day it's going to be a money maker I think you know they're they're projecting you know how they come -- these numbers about 550 million dollars in economic impact.
Now is I don't think it's it's very bad if the jets and -- -- -- -- out very good if you're a fan of the jets and giants -- you're from New York yeah is that all of a sudden it's like you know the apocalypse is upon us now.
But they need hotel rooms -- they need to strip joints in town -- restaurants full they need people to come from out of town for that.
Well no doubt that that's the problem if you ever get a local team that's actually in the game.
You lose all of that revenue which you really generate from a super ball.
And day you know the one thing I think with this Super Bowl look football games and they're meant to be play in the elements that's going to be great.
But really at the end the -- of it's a corporate event so you wanna bring those people into town I think you know in terms of other teams and their fans.
And you know you rooting for the the jets and giants but you know at the end of the day you -- -- from out of town.
Since then why wouldn't and this is gonna sound ridiculously naive but what would you would -- -- -- in like the town of the last seen in -- in the NFL for that exact reason what is the Buccaneers.
That close OK okay and if yeah.
I got good for awhile now they're into more avid Tampa all the time hey it's war and they're never gonna get there than -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I'll tell you that Tampa accede to its it think it's -- bad idea because -- actually does host the Super Bowl Lotta time on that rotation.
But let's -- take a city like Green Bay take you know one of these other markets the promise a lot of these cities don't really have the capacity the hotel capacity -- restaurants.
So they really can't host an event like one year was in Jacksonville.
And basically we had to you know for all our corporate clients we had to bringing cruise ships and rent out some condos at sawgrass to put people -- it just wasn't hotel -- I was admissible in Houston Texas in the spread out cities like Glendale Arizona it's all -- in Houston we have this state miles away like a 45 minute drive to and from the hotel and I got a tweet from someone asking needs like rent at my -- How far -- from the stadium while I am I.
I haven't gotten there and Olympics and then what he thought all wanna rent out my house for millions and it never really panned out I didn't.
It doesn't it doesn't because it doesn't in cities like new -- -- where there's too much hotels tea because at the end of the day.
People stay in hotels when you have an event like the masters and you know.
The best hotel is you know the Holiday -- Ben -- and again people -- out these gorgeous homes in and you can stand him but here in New York.
I would expect people to be able to rent there.
Cannot indie acts yeah I mean I love my state but -- -- yesterday east brethren is a bit of a cesspool -- not gonna stay there -- rights you gonna travel.
I mean you talk about people that are gonna commute I guess if you're on a plane anyway you don't care you could have an hour commute back and forth from the game -- your hotel in new.
Only I think you know the people that will end up staying in Jersey a lot of the fans I mean a lot of corporates because with the NFL does is they come in.
And eight book all these hotels out for their sponsors all of their clients.
They're all -- -- be in New York City at the Waldorf that you know the biggest hotels but the fans than they come and follow their teams let's say like -- of the saints getting.
You know their fans are gonna come up there is going to be looking for the cheapest hotels and really what they'll do is you'll end up having a lot of fans close by here Jersey who are just there because their fans -- there there for the games.
All the corporate guys that are wanna be in New York partying going the clubs.
The functions the game is secondary so.
Both both states will benefit from having this.
He -- what he has come in laurel but I think I can I.
Never the kind of -- evidence he need to go it's one of those things it's it's in that he's the 100 they've got -- -- -- face he'd just give me call will work.
I don't know he's gonna still be on the VIP -- And then before and it's intimacy it's too long of a gain too much too many to many perpetrators so -- you get that event that the that this.
This is god and thousand dollar amounts of -- -- The opposite you might like it but I don't like people 30000 dollar millionaires who Seattle went out like any other big play coming down the suitable you're not really they're all around there they're all and -- and pay my pet -- but it's my business though.
I'll stop there are certain -- now that will affect this though it in a negative way in -- -- gets dozens of going to Abu at a time.
Probably come back they always have that he doesn't have been yet it's going to be.
