Well mama grizzlies let out a big roar last night Nikki Haley fought back -- some nasty accusations.
To force a runoff of the south Carolina Republican gubernatorial primary.
And in California Carly Fiorina easily won the GOP nomination to run for Barbara -- the senate seat that Barbara Boxer has.
Both candidates got a big boost from the woman who coined the term -- mama grizzlies former Alaska governor Sarah -- Joins us now live from Salt Lake City governor one of publicity yet.
Think -- some -- glad that you're having me on oh thanks so much for coming -- Three out of four that I think that's a 750.
Batting average you're doing pretty well are you surprised you did so well.
Well it certainly wasn't me off my coach wooden used to say say it doesn't matter who is right it matters what is right and what is right is these mama grizzly methods or -- -- -- Donna Martinez and India Mexico and some -- out across -- nation you are.
The other -- -- all maligned they've got the right methods they are out they're they're busy women so they don't have a whole lot of time for the stuff on the periphery that gets in the way it just get the job done and I think that bodes well to their work ethic and their determination to help turn this country around.
Now we talked about it the beginning of the show about what unites these various folks that the Olympic folks.
Carly Fiorina Terry Branstad and Rand Paul I mean it is an eclectic mix of folks what does.
Bring them all together.
What brings it all together it is the common sense conservative -- -- that is needed back in our country's government we need to put country our government back on the site of the people.
And all of them from -- -- -- -- in her own state to Nikki Haley want to serve in congress to move Carly Fiorina all of already.
-- recognize what -- is that we need to do both economically admit militarily to put government back on the fight of the American people.
Add that to rely -- smarter smaller governments of that are growing government that President Obama wants to lead us towards.
I was -- Rand Paul's father about a week ago Ron Paul congressman Ron Paul.
And of course he's stayed true for the most part to these conservative principles he's he's guilty of a little porky.
Here in there that we could talk about we've -- him about that but.
I said what is it about Washington sometimes folks come to -- with a best intentions small government.
Conservatives and they get sucked into the vortex.
Of the beltway mentality.
And they lose their principles and they start pork and just like the rest of them -- How do we keep.
Them honest how do we keep them from turning into big government people.
We make examples out of those who are the biggest parkers and we fire them and we hire people we elect people who promise and hopefully have a track record to a fiscally conservative bid them.
And that they will apply that on the national level but yeah I just thinking about it being easy to kinda get stuck in and perhaps be part of that any more then we should be spending even -- the governor in my own state you know I vetoed some of Obama's stimulus funds that.
My own Republican legislature overrode might veto of the stimulus funds.
So yeah I hit it in some respect that you can't just point to one party -- One problem but if people get kind of entrenched and start believing that they know how to -- other people's money better than the people who earn the money that's where the problem.
Lies well what about what about these pledges some people put together tax groups put together pledge saying I pledge I will not raise -- and -- resign if I do.
It art is a pledge necessary part of getting elected in November.
It's valuable part of it because it -- the voter know what really that that people are the candidates are willing.
Two put their name on I think it is valuable.
And I think that we have seen in the past some of those broken promises that make -- -- government which isn't.
I'm healthy aspect of our every Republican a democracy -- we can't trust our government we can't trust our officials to fulfill their promises.
But I think taking those questions is it helpful because that lets voters know where that person is standing.
Now of course some of those pledges are now way of being issued by people like Jerry Brown -- Democrat he's been governor California before he's pledging.
That he will not raise taxes and less they're -- a referendum to force him.
To raise taxis pledging that he will cut so what about those pledges to the public by pledges I have been there.
I guess I don't have enough grace to not apply to Jerry Brown when he says that he isn't going to be 14.
Attacking America and think what he did when even the governor.
He talked about -- -- back in the day back in the seventies in California but look at what the foundation has been.
Built up on there in California.
Then a part of that in that with any outside of their means and then looking to increase taxes taking -- from that.
Producers in their states in order to fund bigger government part of that foundation so I guess I don't have an -- -- -- -- area believe yeah.
How about President Obama you know he's now.
Found fiscal conservative visible or at least that's what he claim in his speech a couple weeks ago.
Now what -- about is that not increasing taxes on the American people and yet what he's going to.
Pushed for is an allowance of George Bush's the tax relief to be to be eliminated and that -- equivalent to a tax hike.
On American and look at that -- Jackson -- proposals that he -- out there for the American people in his Democrat controlled congress -- allowed to be captured and with these giant price tags attached to them with no explanation as to how we're gonna pay for these giant program -- This enormity of government growth.
It's disingenuous of him to keep saying that he's the fiscal conservative when the only way -- we're gonna pay for both on his watch just to increase taxes.
And keep borrowing from foreign countries making it more beholden to these countries.
It could be tax increases that the American people are gonna see believe me.
-- the game plan for November it's it's it's a beautiful -- -- don't get much of a summer in Alaska you like to spend time with your family I know.
But are you gonna be out on a road constantly supporting the candidates who were running.
Well not constantly LB physically -- Alaska as much as I possibly can be -- right out lap is -- -- is -- in the summer I'm going to be there but.
The electronic I'll be able to help some of the candidates.
I get -- it's not mean not one individual or one endorsement can tip but candidacy one way or the other it's how that candidate is going to -- what it is that there intention is for this country and how that will be received.
What what endorsement or and somebody maybe like -- can help assist with this perhaps.
Allow a little bit of momentum shift but that's it it's -- -- the candidate it's up to that.
That message and how often -- they are about protecting our constitution about putting our country back on the right track economically and militarily it it doesn't really.
-- much to do with an endorsement.
And are you supporting all Republican candidates or running in November you're gonna pick individual ones.
A lot of -- case by case because you know there are a lot of Republicans that have really disappointed electorate when they've strayed from that.
Basic principles that are.
Pretty simply I mean if I understand anybody can understand their written out in the Republican platform the -- are strong at the end of pot -- Republicans -- straight from a bottle case by case.
Good independents out there who.
Humble heart and separately partisan people I have been a lot of my family and friends that aren't registered in any one party think just want common sense.
Conservative principles to apply again in our country thought a case by case.
Finally I got to talk about oil because you wrote about oil didn't we see you heard that the president hasn't spoken.
Today ahead of BP directly now his Press Secretary Gibbs -- say according gives.
The executive structure of corporate governance doesn't allow him to president to speak to Tony Hayward the head of BP what do you think of that.
I think that's kind of boat just because why would the corporate structure of an oil company like ConocoPhillips allow the CEO to speak.
Do a little low governor of Alaska like me and I did have meetings with.
Top officials of oil companies fell I I don't believe that -- I don't believe that -- President Obama -- -- the part I don't believe that his.
Lack of executive experience is is is.
Bode well for this situation with the oil spill he does need to me the -- to CEL and verify what it is the Tony Hayward and Tony Hayward underneath are telling the American people.
-- -- -- -- About double the cost of that gusher -- hearing conflicting stories about what it's gonna take to stop it in to clean it up and remedy all this any.
Could verify our president does for our sake that BP is doing everything everything in it within their control to remedy the situation is tragic.
Governor Sarah Pailin a pleasure to see again governor safe travels to you and your family appreciate it.
Thanks so -- up to -- Houston.
