Is the national debt enough to make you lose sleep at night well not for our president who went back to senate leaders this weekend.
Looking for more ways to spend your money that's right the president is looking to add fifty billion more tax dollars to what they called the Extenders bill.
The beneficiaries well you guessed it doctors the -- unions and state governments that just can't seem to balance their own budget.
My next guest says stop the spending spree Tom DeLay is the former house majority leader and Republican from Texas welcome congressman.
Thank you -- great being with him.
We know how on the one hand you call for fifty billion billion dollars more spending on the -- say we want a three year freeze on spending by government agencies how does that actually work.
Or this president just doesn't get it he'd I guess if this is what he believes then and it's big term and more government.
And -- and pay off here your cronies that have to get elected.
This bill raises taxes -- -- is spending about 126 billion.
Raises taxes by seventy billion and increases the deficit by 55 billion.
That Republicans have an alternative.
Has I have an alternative does the same thing almost.
But -- it it cuts spending -- a hundred billion dollars.
Cuts taxes by 26 billion dollars in cuts the deficit by 55 billion are yet they're not getting much play.
-- present -- -- like everything else.
Let's stroll down on the -- on the -- stroll down on the -- it's on the table we've been talking about the people and yet.
-- a little bit about where this money would go to that you're talking about it's gonna increase the deficit there.
We're talking about money that would go to states and fifty billion dollars.
We're talking about jobless benefits being extended.
We're talking about -- Medicare doc fix.
Some -- -- stuff I think he would might be in favor -- like the 23 billion dollars.
To Medicare to fix doctor pay would you support that.
We I yes I would support that -- because here you have a situation now where doctors are not taking Medicare patients because.
Medicare is not covering the cost of they're doing business the point is is how you do it.
And in this presidency seems to think that you just keep piling money on and keep spending that money from coming out.
-- those printing presses that right now that -- had.
Democrats are bragging about passing what they called pay go which means if you cut.
If you increase spending at a -- -- -- from somewhere else very few cut taxes you gotta increase.
Cut spending somewhere else.
And yet after they passed pay go they have spent over 200 billion dollars that have not been paid for and here they go again.
The -- probably I -- showing you.
That the Republicans are showing you that you can do that doc fix.
You can do.
Extension of unemployment benefits you don't need to bail out.
Already bad governments like California.
And take the pressure off to -- them to do the right thing.
But and lady killed -- about that let me ask you about that -- The money for states the president says it would result in thousands of people not losing their jobs and we're not talking about just any folks here were talking about teachers.
Policeman -- what's wrong with that and -- want those folks to have their jobs.
And you know all this money is fungible -- I want.
As many teachers as we need to teach our children I want as many firemen and policemen we need this to keep me safe and in my neighborhood.
But gagged I don't want more than we need and that's trying to be protected by the teachers union.
I don't want to ask me that does the union for public employees to have more people working -- we need what I do want.
Is the states to look at their budgets and cut.
Those programs that they cannot afford.
-- those programs that we need like teachers and firemen.
And policeman it's not a match it's not a choice of laying off teachers they may be a choice of laying off public employees to do something.
That we can afford.
-- Texas is done a good job why should Texas be penalized for doing a good job yet California be bailed out for doing a bad job.
A congressman and it -- -- you're saying that you feel it the president is just too beholden to the unions here is that part of the problem.
That's part of the problem but then and though the worst part of his problem is this -- president has no clue what he's doing I mean look at the girls feel.
People are saying what it now what happens when you elect a president that has no experience and -- -- made -- you wouldn't hire.
As a manager in in any company in this country.
He has no experience.
And he has a world view that says the bigger the government the more we can solve problems that is not the case.
And every time he turns around he's taking -- huge hit at our economy.
I mean it right there and he's sitting down there in Mississippi.
Next to a lady that lost 40% of our business at a hotel and have and a restaurant -- that lost his business.
In Mississippi this has no all on their beaches because this president.
Has cut is a disaster when it comes to handling this crisis and has created this perception that the entire Gulf Coast is is inundated and all.
It costing this woman her or her business and this man his restaurant and -- Mean this the he has no clue what he's doing well a lot fact that I -- just Smart.
I heard this morning and that probability Jimmy Carter is is really feeling good today that then it's turning out that he's going to be the second worst president.
A lot of -- there's an -- the president -- -- and -- -- the good -- thanks for your -- today we appreciate it.
My pleasure even.
