Days weeks months and years of practice in the patients.
An experience of good coaches no one knows that better than cal Ripken junior he played a remarkable 21 seasons 2632.
For the Baltimore Orioles -- stayed involved in the game he loves.
And is now partnered up with LB dot com to bring his knowledge of the game -- young players all over the country we welcome.
Hall of Famer cal Ripken junior great to see cal thanks for being here.
Thanks for -- means.
Since then -- if you didn't have anything else to do you got your stadium the Ripken stadium where the Aberdeen -- -- on the Brooklyn cyclones fans so forgive me but Q you've got a great -- and Aaron.
In Aberdeen you've got to cal Ripken senior foundation which is.
Wonderful work all of this other stuff and now -- the most recent thing is this get great dot com how does that work.
Well we've always had the -- teaching platform to kids when they come -- our camp.
We've always had our teaching curriculum and now mlb.com.
Partner with them -- -- instructional website get -- great.
Dot com allows us to reach many many more kids through technology through the Internet so we've put all our teachings on the Internet.
And the beautiful part about this website is.
You get a chance to use MLB footage to make -- points how we call them we call them coach -- moments and the other big league players make mistakes they make terrific plays.
And where there to highlight them you know produce them the kind of kind of give you sort of -- YouTube.
Learning moment as the taxes to each of our lesson -- -- everybody else know.
-- I -- NSA has that as anybody in television knows it's.
Very tough to get your hands on MLB footage all kinds of rules -- -- -- you have to go through to get the stuff.
So if you have access to this battle alone makes it a very valuable property.
Probably yeah that's that's the whole value -- -- mlb.com on the Internet we can take.
Say Derek Jeter if you love the Yankees -- have their Jeter over time we haven't developed this whole library yet we're pretty good so far.
You'll be able to click on Derek Jeter click on -- Jeter started to learn the whole position of shortstop.
Through his great plays sometimes through his mistakes and -- -- tutoring your through that but you also get to go through all the other curriculum as well.
And for the for the price of what a lesson would be hitting us now for an hour.
You get a whole year subscription of of all our stuff right there at your fingertips.
All right well and as you say it's not free you do pay a subscription price of what about thirty dollars intro -- and then a monthly fee is it how does that work.
Well I think it's it's -- there's many different pricing options but I took a look at his membership for a whole year only cost thirty bucks.
And you can go ala cart you can do different things so there's many different options -- you -- should go and get great dot com to find out.
But it's not that expensive for all the the stuff that you're able to get.
You know you can't not everybody come to us -- our baseball camps we like to reach each and every kid.
NA in a good definitive way now I and there are a lot of campsite I -- -- have a home in Cape Cod so I love the Cape Cod league so I go go to a lot of games there.
They have a lot of camps for kids to -- would they be able to use something like this in their own program.
You know any part of the game any facet of the game that you want to learn.
-- from -- to eighteen.
The curriculum you put your name you put your idea and how old you are -- naturally take you through the proper curriculum and that and one less than what leads you into another lesson religion into another which you can just click in any part of that that's sort of learn about wanting if you all learn about wanting more -- -- infield play or pitching.
All that stuff right at your fingertips.
And most of rules lust and love lessons only last three or four minutes usually keep the kids' attention not going and then I'll move you to another lesson right now cal.
It again another -- that you're doing this is this the cal Ripken World Series this is the tenth anniversary this -- you're preparing for what is it it's coming up -- about a week isn't it it's the fourteenth of August it begins.
August 14 we begin and it's so hard to believe -- -- at this for ten years.
Babe -- -- named their lower division cal Ripken baseball worldwide.
We've been hosting -- World Series the cal -- World Series.
Now this makes our -- -- not ten years and Aberdeen and I think we move that it might be or six or seven here.
But it's it's a fabulous World Series of celebration of baseball much like the Little League World Series.
We play real baseball kids steal they hold people on the -- a little bit further -- -- the pitchers don't dominate.
As much as they yeah what's next a short distance.
No wooden bats yet but that's -- you know I used to I hate the sound of of aluminum against a baseball as.
It sounds awful and is nothing like the sound of the wooden -- against -- baseball.
I agree with you my boy right now the age sixteen he's just starting use what that's what there is the difference in the bat -- that kids are able to develop.
Early on with a little bit lighter aluminum bat in our hands but I I agree with you we'd like to move -- to wooden bats at some point in the development.
And I love the marketable back company that makes those wooden bats I know they're they're -- also the Louisville sluggers as well let's talk about Major League Baseball we can -- for say because as you know it's it's been hit by a couple more these.
Scandals or at least -- suggestions -- it -- Ramirez and Ortiz now.
You know bad pop by the Big Papi -- into -- -- drugs to whether or at least suggestions that he did.
How has this affected baseball if it all the fan base.
Well you know I worry about that more because I deal with kids on on the -- -- -- minicamp for the last four weeks.
And the kids -- as part of your question answered asked me exactly the same questions that your -- -- now.
And if I flip it around really quickly on them just to say what do you think about it do you think it's right along and all of you think that that that there are no shortcuts and it's and that's that's wrong.
Now having said that this black cloud is hanging over baseball in my opinion a little bit too long.
And you know you get these things are coming out are you are a little bit outdated they're back to a 2003.
I would love it just do have a chance children clean slate and really focus on the game between the white lines because it's a beautiful game.
You deal with kids so often do you ever see any temptation by the teenagers to get in the using some of these and answers.
Well if if so they haven't been that quite upfront with me we talk about.
Some of the things that could happen some of the concerns they might have.
We're quite -- -- obviously it must work.
But it's not the right way to go about doing it the right way is to find out.
How good you can be you what's the best you can be at the end of the day you want to understand the legacy sort of peace but he won't you won't understand that.
You have a whole lot more feeling of that you've accomplished something when you look back if you do the right way by the way cal when you said clean the slate does that mean releasing the vote list.
I don't know what should this that.
You know to me.
You know I the emotional side and everybody says you know OK let's get this all out if it's gonna come out anyway that's hit all -- -- done with -- my brother -- on -- radio show all the time is is is spewing out that sort of information.
But the whole reason that this process was started it was because everyone volunteered to see how bad the problem was in baseball.
The agreement was that if there would remain anonymous.
I kind of feel that those names should remain anonymous.
And should remain under records sealed.
And now hopefully you know none no none of those -- -- -- again we'll just move on.
All right so clean the slate but the list stays anonymous.
Had that's my that's my okay yeah all right we we don't want to put you on the spot but I just wanted to get it on record cal Ripken junior.
And all -- -- ever get sick of seeing your name everywhere it's everywhere.
Now seems like and -- never last two or three months now it's time for me to get back down from Tampa and well you're you're here and they knew him as spades it.
On this new venture and none nether World Series coming up we wish you the very best gal and.
