Got a from fox five New York went below ground zero for an exclusive tour.
Of the new 9/11 memorial take a look at this.
On the surface of the world trade site you can see the cranes and manpower working to make that vision a reality.
But what she can't say -- what's going on deep underneath the site something you're about to see for the first time ever.
Chris and irony construction left -- at seven stories below ground into what will be the national September 11 memorial museum.
Blowing you can get where the floor of the museum.
They give you some sense -- the -- that space is enormous and we'll -- thirteen acres.
We're now literally walking underneath.
This other cool calm and it's above us so.
We are in those days where -- second towers stood -- -- can get a sense of where we are this is the southern memorial fountain from above.
We -- directly below it underground so when people -- down here.
They're going to be looking up and realize that's the foundation of the second tower the blocks of the south pool so this is what people haven't seen.
What's it like for you to be working here at ground zero I was with the port authority on 9/11 for me it's.
It's not only a dream come true it's just it's just an honor.
-- is here now to share her experience with us from Santa.
Thank you for us full in the by the way it's gonna air tonight from them saying yes this.
I was there for 93 the first bombing of the World Trade Center I was there for the other bomb in the world treats and lost lot of friends it's sacred ground what you feel like being.
Well -- well I have to tell you something for years I mean I was down there when the attacks happened days following the recovery of the rescue.
And then for a while I just shut it out and I have to be honest with you every time I pass that World Trade Center site I didn't want to look too many people lost there.
Close friends lost there my husband worked around there he had a close call it was just too painful to look at that site.
But we certainly someone said -- this -- going on there they've actually done things down there and I thought this would be great to go and explore because.
I know for years and years the families did you know we're very very protective of the site.
This you know poles -- there his -- there is people in this day there.
We were back there they brought us -- does that work down there and it was trading energy they needed energy to go on and there were people families bringing.
It was -- -- style that -- Here's the reason -- bring this up did it feel like they're doing those families justice with what they're doing.
I have to say in my humble opinion.
Yes OK this is why I think -- You have to move on when we gonna keep the great site an -- picked it's just too painful to look at that.
You know you know for years and years and years they've tried to recover and I -- this still recovering.
But they have to move on they have to move on for the people who live around there for the businesses around there.
And for the feelings around there what's lovely is those memorial fountains which you didn't see but if you -- Fox News he will say.
There -- two memorial fountains okay.
In the footprints of the World Trade Center towers.
And there is going to be beautiful water and -- names that everybody who we lost on 9/11.
And trees 600 trees that are begin.
It's -- going to be beautiful memorial park in fact.
Eight acres just the park it's twice the size of Bryant Park in the -- that it's it's big Gary you've spent a lot of time here in New York.
-- do you feel like we're doing by the way I'm pretty proud of that.
You know I mean they they could rebuild the big buildings and a lot of office space in there but -- -- they're doing something pretty pretty special.
Young in my office down there you know we we played basketball around there I mean -- and it's just it's.
It's such an emotional thing for anybody from this area.
You know -- bit -- you know it's it's.
You know my mind.
Cousins and and that's primary here at the time -- just one of these things that you you know.
Unlike you I -- literally shut it down it feels like and feels like everything's been shut down it's almost been a decade I think that's.
Insane to me if you want to see anything built they would did you wanna see it anyway I felt like it wasn't anything for me to say what I felt I thought with the -- you know I know there's.
There's a lot of damage that's a lot of cooks in the kitchen and I knew it was going to be difficult to please everybody question what if we're what's your feeling.
You know I watched the towers come down from my deck right right across from Brooklyn that day and I lost a number of friends very close friend.
And I just hope that their families are happy with this because it looks beautiful it looks like -- -- actually care about the people that lost their lives basically for our country.
Because that was a terrorist attack on our country in these people suffered because of that.
I personally think -- really think that that they're making some some parts of that sacred ground and yet we -- moving on this whole this inspiration.
And we have to move forward Christian way and in this -- but I think they're making it a place of life and be and that is I think than than most incredible.
Representation of respect that we can give the people whose lives pastor -- that -- future generations can come.
And spent time in -- place and reflect and literally and figuratively and on this what that meant to this nation I think -- Lovely present on an upbeat note they're going to build the area around that though right they are everything's backed up -- Roberts.
First being built right now is number one the Freedom -- it's gonna be 17176.
It's going to be the largest.
