The big screen bringing in a whopping 84 million dollars -- the domestic box office.
And sixty years since the hit television series and did -- unsuccessful seasons.
Our sister network fox now -- boulder ends.
Kelly are back in heaters for the movie -- X-Files I want to believe the two investigators are hoping to capture some more box office magic and bring fans back to the lucrative franchise.
X-Files star David Duchovny joins us now welcome.
Had being here is what can those X-Files fanatics those crazy fans like me expect in his new movie.
Well the decision was made and I think a good one to allow time to pass through the characters -- -- as -- -- for all of us so.
When we pick up with them they've had six years of of life that we haven't been watching.
And there are now in a relationship it is very different from any relationship that we've seen with them.
I think we we jump ahead a good deal so it's it's common interest thing.
And interest and jump for fur fans of the show and again.
For people that don't know anything about the show it's though it's it's a movie that stands alone -- you don't need any kind of special knowledge to.
To understand it to enjoy and it's and it's a great thriller.
You -- like David not to long ago I interviewed Chris Carter of course -- you know the creator and the director of the film and he was saying.
-- put all of you guys back in the room together -- you know going through it that you're one of the greatest cheerleaders to get this done.
You might think you did it how -- you feel about the finished product.
Well one I leftists are left about a year -- early and I always wanted.
That is exposed to continue it in movie form and wanted to show -- -- -- to Chris and I seventh -- June.
It was always kind of away from -- be a man of my word and and to.
To really express my good intention to be part of whatever movie franchise is gonna happen so.
And for and for Chris Carter to be able to direct that it was all kind of it was very satisfying for me.
To be able to be involved in that and for Chris to be able to direct his first feature that way and I think -- did an amazing job -- It doesn't look like first time director looks -- a classic.
You know thriller mystery.
-- love story.
So you know I'm laughing a little bit as I'm listening to you right now because you and I both know this can be a lot of people of we're looking -- you right now I think it Hank moody.
And -- and and think and screenwriter and and that's different character in this character won't look alike getting back into the old character.
Well I played Mulder for so long that it wasn't.
Issues have a part of me and I think probably always will be so it wasn't really that difficult but.
It was a little difficult and -- became easier when I started to work with Gillian Anderson again -- -- We were Mulder and Scully and -- -- -- -- -- really reminded me of who Mulder was so that was really the key for me.
You know -- -- the coolest parts about this is that I tried with that Cris Carter tried get everything out of them.
And if there's a shroud of secrecy around this -- -- you to think about that.
If that's pretty appealing this is that you're not gonna give us much information about what's happened and.
Secret was because these if there's a kernel of the of the plot that that that is very important for -- When we're blower making -- -- figure -- it could have been copied or ripped off very easily.
And if -- is if somebody had -- -- to the -- say on television show using the same kind of idea.
Then our movie would've would've sucked.
So that was the original idea behind behind keeping that secret.
And then also the other part of that was to try and make a movie where you have an old fashioned movie -- experience where you didn't know the entire plot before you went and and we we just decided let's try and give them that experience let's try to get people in the theater without really knowing what -- City.
And I think that's a real fun experience to have them.
After -- while the fans of the people who -- interest in the making of the movie.
Really got behind that and and and -- of trying to find out what we're doing actually became very protective of our secrecy.
Irate painting company best of -- thank you so much for joining us today I really appreciate it.
Thanks -- -- -- I want to believe it will open until day in theaters across the.
