I'm happy screen Turkey day.
The so called today -- Turkey day.
The -- -- -- 130 points in May miss it usually is some consumer sentiment.
Why consumer -- up.
Boggles my mind but it is nevertheless it came in better than expected.
Earlier Deans in this morning and it basically they're saying does -- US economic data getting a little bit better Lil.
The emphasis here.
It is -- US October new home sales down we -- existing home sales are down here that early in the week today we find that new home sales tumbled eight point 1%.
8% new -- -- down -- said this all along on the state again if this housing market doesn't fix itself the economy will not.
Wilson know that South Korea -- aid.
Pulled strap it's North Korea so we have all that going on which surprises me.
That the market is that based on all that craziness.
As did he was ordered to pay oracle 31 point three billion dollars in damages watch oracle stock will be watching it for you all day.
US mortgage application volume rose last week believe it or not interest rates are low people -- certainly consider it it's all about refinancing now.
Today prop Tiffany Tiffany little blue box one month -- -- -- -- -- 27%.
Really could not and not us certainly not as they say the holiday sales are encouraging.
People are gonna get out there and shot.
You heard from the minutes of the last fed policy meeting that they downgraded.
There US economic projections.
It just falls to me in the category.
-- -- -- -- The other thing I wanna talking about though is this little insider trading thing that's going on today so today we're taught him IDS HI guests -- was here the -- -- saying he's gonna go nowhere fast.
None of the big companies are being basically -- hit on.
Yet although today.
What we know right now is that federal agents arrested someone in California.
They're claiming it's from an expert network firm that's in quotes expert network firm.
In connection with -- sweeping they claimed three year investigation of insider trading on Wall Street the guys name and I'm not kidding.
Is Don Ching Trang to.
For economic and -- how good image that of -- -- -- -- he is I believe you're not Somerset New Jersey he was arrested.
Prior to a trip he was about to take to Taiwan.
She was listed earlier this week as an expert the website primary global research.
Now what does this say anti Israel -- -- -- about this on -- and this is not a it's not a big -- so is this just a statement is this is someone that they picked out to make a point will there be more -- these guys will be watching it.
At this point Charlie and most experts agree this is not going to be a -- of -- worldwide thing.
This is the government trying to make a point certainly don't -- mutual funds because of it.
Let them do what -- my.
In waste more of our taxpayer dollars on things that are gonna go nowhere because we have -- The daily -- -- as we shop on Black Friday.
I have never shopped on Black Friday I know nothing about it -- -- landing -- man is here president finance expert.
From credit dot com so glad that fiance here in town for all the mayhem could there is planning -- it.
People shop on Black Friday.
They do do they need to anymore.
I mean the deal other kind of where these days do we need to killer cells on Black Friday I think you raise a very good point I mean there's so many good deals online all all the free shipping offers for example you can start looking at sales -- its circular demeanor -- now we'll see you could start your pre shopping.
-- checked compare prices and maybe we'll find a better deal somewhere else you don't have to deal of the -- -- ball but you wouldn't have experienced that is that you save gas money of course to.
Customers that the -- is though when we get out to the store I think we fall victim to and you at all.
And then you overshot -- and -- -- problem.
It is said there was a study done last year after the holiday season when you've invested sort of settled.
And consumers -- most of about 39% said they went over budget last year no surprise.
A little wasn't a great year -- -- -- -- -- budget about 5% so they went way over budget the other interesting thing was.
They found that consumers who used -- credit card -- -- spent about a 180 dollars more.
People who stuck to cash so if you're really -- -- tank that budget in addition to shopping around.
It may be smarter to leave those credit card -- home.
You know what I am I made a pledge yesterday and I was hoping other people made it with me that I was not amusement credit card this year I deny -- last year.
-- -- this year but I could -- a little bit of a dork I have money to get out of my check every month to put into my Christmas can can yeah.
And the but -- but.
So to see him go now until -- -- -- when they haven't prepared is really tough.
Yeah so what do you say to these people when you you know in an ideal world you don't Asia credit card -- but what do you do.
Well if you if you have to use your credit card at least do some shopping with your credit cards before you start actually shopping so -- -- issuers.
And there they are starting to negotiate against -- -- a couple of years ago you go call your -- and get a lower rate than last year they take right everywhere right.
They're starting to negotiate again -- tried at least use the card with a low with interest rates.
So that you can pay those purchases dropped as fast as possible but I would tell you thirteen million Americans are still paying off holiday get from last year.
And it's it's tough we have -- that thirteen million.
-- -- -- Now speaking of scary people are still very worried about cyber attacks and things like that.
Is it safer way to shop is it debit vs credit clearly cash is the safest but I do have to use a card which way to write out what your credit card and actually be safest way to pay because he had zero -- liability that's lost or stolen and you have this additional protection.
Let's say you buy something online it turns out not to be what you ordered you can tell your credit card company and that pain -- investigate and get their help.
You don't have it -- protection would debit cards and debit cards to carry voluntary zero liability.
But if someone gets a hold your debit card right now.
And get money out of your account it's gonna take -- -- to get -- -- and as you can imagine during holidays -- you every day counts that could be a real hassle.
So if you are using -- debit card what I say is monitoring it obsessively -- every single day online check your balance anything suspicious notify your card issuer.
Right away that's interesting.
When -- gift cards is that still the way to -- Gift cards are a whole lot better because now we have police protection right under the new gift card acts of a five year expiration and they can't charge an activity -- -- One way to consider another thing you might wanna consider -- one of those you know folks syndicate your credits taken -- you have balances you've you've won the safety of plastic.
But you you can't get a regular credit -- a prepaid card -- -- be the way to go below the money that you want on to the card.
Carries a visa or MasterCard logo he spent only happen when it's -- -- -- I thought but you have to be careful.
A lot of those cards carry a lot of fees so you shop around you can find the low the prepaid card -- for the holidays and maybe -- -- -- -- a little better.
It's probably easier like you said to secure budget when your home because you're not tempted.
-- interesting -- -- think of -- A poll just came out this -- 64% of people we're going to shop online and yet -- then.
Total number of people that shop online is still so low in -- into the even that good of brick and mortars why is that.
I you know maybe parlay the experience.
You know we won it's that experience of being in a store and I think the overwhelming -- -- to -- -- I mean there's a limited number of stories right unlimited number of places to -- The fear of security but really if you use the credit card or -- prepaid card.
Is that shot -- -- if say you have a lot of protections against both fraud as well as purchase disputes yeah I wouldn't.
I don't go to source for anything here I'm so I'm I'm -- direct opposite.
OK so Black Friday you're in town you talking about it what are what are the big things that people need to be aware of them.
Well so make sure you keep a record of what cards you do have your wallet filthy water person -- it's still a lot of -- this time a year and you want to be able to notify your card -- -- about.
We got your card at the visa or MasterCard logo that would you know how to get ahold of bank right now maybe now great help.
Make a copy put it up front that witness safe place so there is the problem you can -- -- right away and I say.
-- to to cards to cards is probably enough most of the -- for five cards.
But things start spreading out those purchases among those different card and it's easy to lose track of how much it actually spent.
For the holidays it's much easier to -- on budget with a limited number of cars you know it -- you walk and restore like you know and even that gap.
And they'll say if you open -- card you'll get 10% off your purchase or -- in near anti -- that's -- the next thing you know you have a lot of credit cards yet and and that retail cards being very careful about that you know they will try to get you to open a card 1015% off.
There's a recent study -- -- congressman in New York found the average interest rate average interest rate and retail -- with over 25%.
How do you get that ten or 15% off but if you end -- carry a balance even for a couple of months you wiped out those saving so retail cards.
-- say maybe one.
Open one over the holidays and it also danger -- a little bit each time he opened one.
If you really had a big purchase good deals save a lot of money get one but make sure -- paid well that's an important point before we go -- that it does -- -- credit it got.
-- just having these campus sometimes I think people I'm hoping very confusing with their credit report.
Because sometimes they'll tell you it's good to have a credit card open as long as -- on time yet.
That's a good thing.
On the flip side it's -- acting because you have all this credit available to you.
Well the issue really is opening a new account because your openness -- new account that creates an inquiry on your credit report.
It creates new dad it shortens the average length of history and your credit report.
So all in all if you have retail card from passing close they don't have an annual fee just leave them there that's fine you can even use -- -- -- -- -- But when you talk about opening an account that's where you could feel little drop your credit -- how much you know depend on the -- -- -- -- -- -- felt with a new account you want to limit yourself to -- more than one new account this holiday season your credit on the fence.
You're gonna try to refinance your mortgage or something like that don't do it at all.
And to your point earlier for organizational purposes.
And I insurance worth saving me 10% because -- forget it out there now.
And your interest is climbers that 10% anyway yeah absolutely.
-- -- I'm so glad you're in town credit dot com check it out there's tons of the stuff on the website into the parade if you go thank you -- well.
I'm on the -- them.
-- -- -- -- you got us now Jeff Flock is with us in the airport now the airport this morning with anti hasn't it has started -- -- -- You know explicitly talk about not shopping on Black Friday.
The other good good rule of thumb would be don't fly the day before Thanksgiving well that would typically be a good rule of thumb except today.
This is the day to fly I have never seen at -- -- you know how old I am I have been to a lot of these sections at O'Hare and other airports the day before Thanksgiving it's a typical big day when reporters around.
Keeping an -- on travel I have never seen it this calm.
On a day before Thanksgiving.
I don't know we're trying to get the numbers now I don't know if it's a matter of fewer people just opting not to fly the ultimate opt out -- think they'll drive.
Or watched obviously TSA is better than full strength right now there that they you you know they've got all hands on deck.
But we have had no officers.
Here in Chicago and it's it's been an extraordinary day produced the exact opposite reason that we thought Tracy.
So no protests no oh you know I know people saying I'm in making -- -- -- -- nothing no one on base.
There was a report earlier on the Associated Press of a gentleman coming out in kilts it was going to opt out and what you know -- -- -- -- work here.
Typically don't Wear anything under there as it was -- at.
And hey Bob not that hot.
At Bob lay out Australia I have a little Scottish blood that I assure you I -- that more of American in terms of my practices and underwear -- Important to say that.
You know in terms of the opting out we have seen no one -- here I think we had the only report I saw that a significant number.
Called significant -- at BWY.
All the more.
Four opt out there but beyond that it's been a lot of Internet talk and very little real action.
I don't think you know Tracy -- I get only 12.
I see here.
I've got I've got the latest because I've got the the head of the Chicago department of aviation and -- but -- Hi nice to see it I'm sorry I thought you were -- -- and al-Qaeda.
I have never seen this -- they don't hear you haven't quite relaxing days that weren't the day before Thanksgiving but have you ever seen it a day before Thanksgiving.
-- last year.
Really was this and there was this -- it was very calm those I mean everybody was very surprised I was surprised that it wasn't as you know more crowded but.
It's been -- everything's been going very smoothly and you were ready for the work.
We weren't ready for a holiday crowds as we all eyes are on this kind of weekend you know is a smiling face -- you're glad you're not dealing with a major problem -- we're glad that everything is is moving along -- that people are going to be able to get to their destinations.
Come back within about six minutes on the other network but thank you very much that -- characterized.
I didn't we're gonna talk to her but I just know that she is got a finger on the pulse here she cents.
Not only this one bit midway as well.
And I know what I guess what it is -- to your point earlier.
Everyone's complaining about on the web but when push comes to show up and I got to go to the airport.
I'm getting asked -- I cannot -- protests and anything can give me through I'll do what I got to do.
Really good point and also you know tell you talk about the Internet it's easy to complain on the Internet about something to -- -- huge community of people I just looked it -- Huffington Post.
Poll that said 60% of people say they were gonna opt out today.
Well where are the right.
You know you can talk on the Internet easy getting out the real world -- taking action.
A different issue.
Yet here is we'll just I'll be your day -- continuously com an uneventful especially this day before Thanksgiving there.
It it's always a good day when I can go to the airport and not get on a plane in men and -- -- happy happy Thanksgiving.
I straits thanks for everything thanks for everything -- blacked out in Chicago.
Com -- you know it is you can dog the dog but if you walk the walk when it comes down -- six cyber bullying.
-- -- and take a break Dow's up 132 points will be right back.
Welcome net BMI country -- and the death of a 135 points as we mentioned earlier is on sentiment.
Consumer sent McCain a little bit better than expected.
A host of economic data that wasn't so bad I guess since I don't know -- people are feeling good.
I don't buy it as a mention earlier.
US October homes out new home sales down 8% we already -- existing home sales down worse than they anticipated.
They actually were expecting sales to -- new arms sales to rise 2.3 percent instead they fell 8% now the market is up.
Why didn't this is old news as we know the housing market sucks I don't know but really now it's not it's not good news and yet we're bouncing back.
Of course you're down under 42 points yesterday so this is your turn around Wednesday even turn on Tuesday.
Returning again and when -- Blame you at Laney Harris.
But he did talk about what happens now during this whole shopping.
-- and that we got going on we have Black Friday it again move on Cyber Monday.
He -- -- is here with us right now to talk about it.
It's -- marketing dot com is that correct -- marketing LTD dot com I marketing LTD -- you're the CEO now we're gonna talk about basically let's let's split it up.
But first thought about have a consumer handles that -- -- about how the online retailers handle it as a consumer.
We were to suddenly -- about how it's very overwhelming.
It is very overwhelming -- I don't know what's more overwhelming being missed 111000 people like pushing you are being on the web knowing.
I did get a better deal out there I don't know where to go.
Sure it and I think it certainly can be what I would think consumers could do potentially stick to stories you know.
With -- got the retail prices.
And start with the search engines so whether it's a product their particular -- you're looking for.
You know it Google being etc.
And often think it's best to start your shopping experience that.
Heidi can't you know I mean it's Cyber Monday I'm all over God's kingdom -- -- retailers keep me on their sites.
Request I think promotions are -- in any environment especially in the current economy.
Things like a percent off dollars off free shipping.
And of course service I think with the interactivity today -- the live chat etc.
there's a lot e-commerce.
Merchants can do to engage that customer but of course -- their biggest challenge keeping that.
Keeping that visitor and turning them into -- ever make any money these days is really if he offers.
You have to -- some serve free shipping on something right you can't not arm -- somewhere else.
He got offers some sort of sale so that's totally custom my bottom line -- yes absolutely and.
And often what you'll find news that is merchants that use the holiday season as a way to attract new customers going forward exactly so the lifetime value that customer -- bet is that it'll payoff over.
Are we are you worried at all that like we're gonna have you know.
Cyber Monday overload where sites can't say it can't he can't get to say it -- -- sets -- -- -- is that just the thing in the past now and I think for smaller.
Merchants they need to be super cognizant of that.
And certainly your larger more established merchants have got to -- about.
You know although we did CJ crew crash and burn -- after the inauguration when.
Obama girls wore J.
Crew for the inauguration next -- -- -- the by the justice in the sites crash.
Yeah I think in that case maybe it was they.
They weren't expecting it right but certainly if I'm selling goods on line and I don't expect an increase in volume moment Cyber Monday.
By not for me to get another job -- -- losing it right.
You know certainly Amazon the leader and everything they do in terms of personal -- Promos and really being on the forefront of the free shipping experience.
I think they're always going to be the leader.
-- -- -- -- -- Basically any product you need also to one place right so that that probably -- to -- -- for a lot of people.
OK so as far as the retailer goes what are some of the things that the retailer needs to do to do break this year.
Absolutely certainly freshen up the site with the relevant Promos you get free shipping.
I think you just -- -- shipman's for the most part Hamas but I'd recommend taking this step further we have votes that offer free to a shipment.
And just that slight twist this year I think it added significant impact in convert browsers in the purchaser -- that's returns exactly.
At a company like that both I think was one of the leaders there and that commitment to service and has that concept.
Folks that are quicker to adapt that concept I think -- happening and it's good to your point at -- -- free -- Great but again I tell them -- free returns.
Had ever imagined in my just presuming that -- consumers too lazy to return it.
I mean it -- make it again to get abound that because otherwise you really talking about cut in my expenses now.
Yeah certainly there's an equation that fact -- and how many folks are actually gonna return apple vs the perception that while I can and it won't cost me.
And I I think it is today.
A numbers game there they're certainly -- not up -- that buys will return.
I was mentioning earlier that Rasmussen did -- -- that it said 64 people 6% of people surveyed say they were in the shop online this year.
And yet the percentage of -- retail sales come holiday season of people who -- online is still under 15%.
Why is that well.
I think it's an evolution right I was thinking about this today folks have been buying through catalogs for a hundred years.
Buying in stores for hundreds of years votes -- only just begun shop -- There'll still be an increased aid and comfort level that needs to happen.
You know the good thing for folks in the business that rates -- go up theory here it's got to re absolutely and in fact next year -- privately talking about mobile commerce.
And what are folks doing to address that for the next hour investigation may say that because we -- we had some -- -- -- -- talking about all the coupons and apps you can get for your phone.
Yeah I -- -- we -- -- be seeing a lot of that this year you think -- it's still -- new.
Well I think coupons and -- sites and daily deal newsletters are prevalent and a -- consumer I wanna tune into them.
In terms of those going mobile.
It's store -- but I think it'll be another year to you before that becomes the biggest.
The biggest buzz if you will -- e-commerce.
Merchants yet because -- omission that I can you know show you bar code on my phone and I get a discount that's genius.
But -- -- many people out there who are just still so.
Phone -- literate you know I mean myself included so my lunch crowd now I would -- -- that.
Yet I think there's some great stored up some great companies beginning to service that market.
But they'll need two things to be successful there on the merchant adaptation and to your point folks what you and I -- in the -- -- iPhone and hold that up it's that I mean I think a little time I have -- So I think -- -- I don't -- -- -- mind it.
Toll money well.
Our paper coupons like still the way to go is anybody clipping their printing coupons.
I think printing certainly in my world being able to print coupons off the web -- the landing page.
We focus a lot more on the online redemption whether it's easy coupon codes or special promotion on the -- landing page so what do you what do you tell you constantly push some of the teaching it and this year.
The from all angles he servicing communication I think things like live chat -- imperative right now it's actually get a higher ticket.
I don't communicate also with your email list you've been building up this customer prospect file for months now -- years.
You if you haven't begun emailing your holiday promotions of messages you -- -- do that now and don't neglect your social media outlets as well.
It's time to be putting the promo what's upcoming Facebook's tweeting it is Sandra.
And I'd also be.
Educating consumers on when's the last day they have to purchase to get their goods and time.
I meant to reappoint him and that brings me to my next question.
Q why -- you really need to shop on Cyber Monday to get the deals because it seems to me that ever given deals -- these days why to kill myself on Monday to do to get them are they going to be around.
I think you're gonna see him around quite a bit actually.
There may be individual products that you know it's a one shot deal they plasma TV is an incredible -- But look if they don't sell enough -- sure that that product they'll still be -- the next day.
So there's going to be some specific individual items but I have come and see Taylor I -- -- this much money as I can it was between that and the Holland.
It's that you points to good would it mean.
Because I've gotten screwed it you know where I ordered to Lee and I spent more and shipping -- I did the -- the product and that just is awful on that sort of accidents at the end.
It and we found that one of the greatest reasons for folks abandoning the shopping court is when they see that shipping -- So.
Addressing that upfront letting them know when they're gonna get the product and how much of anything that the -- shipping.
Will will certainly provide an educated consumer and lead to more cents.
That's a great point actually and to your point earlier don't pay for shipping.
Trying to -- for the return I think that's really cool he got -- president.
How many get it right this time I'm marketing LTD dot com.
-- got it thank you check it out happy Thanksgiving saying thank you being here good luck shot down Monday everybody we're gonna go to break.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- Being thankful.
How at this very early Thanksgiving present kill meetings here I have to play well there's -- -- -- -- good introduction in the prompter like second from the heart.
That Brandon Lang got here and -- -- had to insert might let pointing -- and today I host of FOX & Friends they didn't.
Bryant -- -- kind of things are excited to downtown does but we're top sports okay.
Kelly got three games on Thanksgiving yes we also used to have the lions and one other game and we just -- that the lions would be over not -- the day for us but now got three games.
So he's going to be very sad do you watch -- first I will try to watch -- but I have trouble with three kids actually sitting down for nine hours.
And plus I gotta keep movement.
But I will deftly taken -- -- came in the patriot game for sure this very treatable those things it is hard.
To like Michael -- No it is yes it is.
It's hard for me but he wouldn't you know I -- -- she is still very hard for me OK I know he's doing fantastic I think black and on the field goal line now.
It's very hard for me like well here's -- story how many athletes outside Mike Tyson actually do crime and Plaxico Burress and go to jail and pay for that's the biggest complaint people have.
So like he like everybody else he -- egregious here.
Was similar to I mean.
I'm -- and equated with anything because everyone has different vision of what dog fighting -- But he goes to jail and then -- -- to pay the money back that he would vote on the contract on the signing bonus so he's got a situation where all his friends so called friends turn on him.
He goes to prison the period -- -- everything he had is gone.
He comes out buried in debt with no team's interest it and one team on the urging of the starting quarterback which is unheard of Don McNabb -- -- -- to a million dollar contract great for you night.
But for him that's -- huge come down from ten million plus endorsements that can't pay its bills last year everybody thought I saw Michael Vick I think -- shot.
Three years in prison shot.
Then all the sudden this year after pledging the job to somebody else to get one shot and looks so amazing 25 -- -- teams are saying why didn't we go get him.
So -- -- -- he's -- in through the week about mistakes he made.
What other person.
Is perfect out there -- you're okay with your -- this isn't laughing your kids you're okay -- I say he's a quarterback that used to be used to illegally fight dogs being killed dogs and tortured dogs.
I agree that's horrible.
Just like you tell -- OJ Simpson even if he was in the prime -- this quarter when he committed those murders.
I'm not saying that I would support him I think it's a much different situation killing -- ex wife -- killing dogs.
But you know the sports world would think it OJ back in twenty years old -- he committed those murders had been acquitted of those or resolve winning -- it's all about the bottom line bringing people and that's -- Michael Pakistan for the jets right in toward -- thirty plus owners don't ask don't hire a guy I think -- people in the seats.
And wins in -- wins in the stand.
I know I still struggle that the let's talk about now the owners in -- and that players because right now they're struggling we -- union contracts going on March 4 MI connector right.
Is when that players controversy in March 1 we -- -- -- contracts come up we have.
Basically the players in the unions fighting -- -- players and owners fighting and we of the unions involved that union sitting letters out to governors of you know.
Green Day all these big NFL town saying you don't lose revenue if NFL goes black.
He's -- deal.
Can you tell you about players unions the most powerful and baseball they're not up right now.
And they like marginalized by congress it wasn't for congress colon and then on the steroid things you wouldn't have -- -- they would have acquiesced and anything.
So basically unions got someone their comeuppance is the American people's that spoke out and said listen that the owners are all bad and we do need some balance here have -- however.
-- the situation the NFL where they are saying we gotta get our house in order I think about at least half the teams are losing money.
And I think on the other side from the -- perspective they had zero coverage outside -- signing bonus he gets on the east side Tracy -- for thirty million dollars.
You're not guaranteed from year to year to year the only thing you're guaranteed is that signing bonus think -- you.
And you can go back that thirty million dollars means nothing it's just a number so this situation I think the players need a little bit more security.
And I think there's a situation with the owners need to there their financial house in order and they are going to come at loggerheads and there's going to be a -- Is that.
The other two leagues then you're saying that -- -- -- thirty million I don't really get to 39.
That's exactly that's not how it isn't on the radio when you -- if you set the 20102011.
-- -- they've -- if you get.
-- you ladies and and I really doubt Contra we'll get paid that year than they cure comes up they go I think -- both think seventeen million dollars I don't think you're worth it.
We're gonna cut you would take less money why I mean that's just that's contact -- will that's will that actually works in the NFL.
But the thing is what you gotta do appeared to -- and there you're hot commodity like Adrian Peterson you get all the signing bonus so when you hear players say.
Thirty million dollar signing bonus and a hundred million dollar contract focus on the signing bonus and it only and you have a certain amount of cap money.
That you could only spend on players that is an argument he made that.
Players in the NFL.
Risk more my body limbs -- you -- -- brain cells and then they do another sports I believe the average career is under two years.
And with brain injuries -- -- about it people a bigger stronger faster.
And then hitting each other it is is like a series of car collision right in your head.
And now the pressure's going to be coming up with a helmet and heads for these people -- have a.
And so long term and you happy and you have towns like Green -- that rely on these guys getting beat up constantly to bring money to their economy.
Well I would pose like that.
Green Bay Packers are greenback.
And that they are owned by.
That by the shareholders own the team as opposed to one.
Overall -- Bob crafts and -- -- by -- Greta Van Susteren is this year owner of the Green Bay Packers.
But I think they -- more than once anybody get hurt but we do you see the violence highlighted over and over again on every sport show in America.
Big hits big tackles I'll look at the favorably that's -- -- -- -- fortunate because we saw happen rockers with Eric.
And we see all the time and I -- things -- there so.
Do you think they'll strike do you think we're gonna get I believe I believe we'll have a strike or lock and years that I think march in the off season of football.
It's gonna push everyone to understand the -- the owners and players -- serious.
I think that they are dug in and when the head of the union says we're 99.9.
Percent sure they'll be a lock out.
It's his first year he's got to prove that he's gonna stand and be strong like Gene Upshaw didn't for the longest time.
So I believe that they are heading towards -- have a -- yeah.
That is an account disaster on so many levels them because football season it brings in a lot of money on care what anybody says.
Down to mow Dell's you going in -- giants Jersey before a game you'll see an economic impact.
Parking lot attendants every station years but -- in this stadium.
The people that hold the the yard -- everybody will be affected but.
They want a few things they want a longer season to the owners eighteen games where the players want a little bit more security.
And I think he also wanna do some two rookie salaries these kids who have never taken a snap in football -- making more than other guys.
That have been there for five or six years they want some type a rookie so I think that's fair I think it's fair to eighteen games only to more than what they plan now -- -- be to more than their -- sixteen game season right now so they want to play two more games.
And bring in more money you know it's unfortunate is that to your point that these guys only have a two year career on average yet over 65% of them.
File for bankruptcy.
After five years -- -- I was raised through the -- if you think you narrative special athletes get to the best restaurants the best hotels the specifications.
And when that ends it's like -- -- a clip no one else is paying close to that.
To do almost anything.
And a lot of them aren't able to get degrees -- a beat a top level college athlete is like a full time job he looked at 6 in the morning lifting.
You're working -- -- at three and then his meetings over a tell me when -- supposed to study and they have a second career.
That's why do not I do not.
Disparage anybody who goes and tries to do other things while they're playing like gun.
Ochocinco Chad Ochocinco who's the maxed out his Twitter account is always doing reality shows he's always look at -- -- -- things -- market himself.
I don't have a problem because he's looking -- got new plan that he's one hit away from having it'll end.
So why we did this why weren't quick to practice everyday why do we then push Turkey -- -- why are kids playing football when the end result is not.
Well wouldn't what is your end result.
I don't know it's not going to be in a fellow.
So lineups -- -- UN meet people you want to -- would -- had to compete when that took place for a coach to understand instruction perform in the clutch is nothing to do with going pro.
1% of the college athletes will go pro and college basketball.
Any college football in the crush you get a full ride -- done in soccer the average rookie salary in America that.
30000 dollars so -- the gravy train for the and the Joseph Montana stories and Ron Amadon stories.
And you know in the Mark Sanchez who has a few and far between that's -- -- kids play.
That's why they think that -- You never -- Utility year old wants to be pretty let him be a pro but that he -- -- when reality is that -- they might also have other interests did thing is she played to compete you -- when you're Catholic league championship.
You want to win your division.
You want to win your state.
You're not necessarily -- good tire iron in Minnesota look into the NCAA champ when -- ninth grade you know there's a process to everything.
And things play -- the way.
I -- I -- -- -- cast your basketball questions what that's going to Miami.
It's unbelievable the most fascinating story ever discuss -- -- three people don't make a team the other thing.
They've gotten so much she they've gotten so much guff about these three superstar players -- -- Dwyane Wade.
Bob -- and rod and LeBron James.
The other thing is most disturbing aside from the fact that -- -- played 500 basketball that they had a better record last year at this time they do this year.
Is if you look around the arena it is not even sold out.
So that marketing bonanza that wonderful Rochelle that lakers come to life of that of the eighties showtime.
We visited is not coming to fruition.
-- all three of those guys look miserable.
Why is that though is it because every honest China like hot shot at -- -- -- and take three point shots and not making them like what what -- -- an ego thing takes time even for the most talented players to jail.
I think it may be their coach is also certain to learn how to do this and I also think -- -- actually feel the pressure every night.
There -- way games are sold them their presence they feel like everybody's out to get a maybe pressing too much -- also.
To -- for the for the same -- -- doing wade and LeBron James both need the ball a lot.
In Dwyane -- with the Olympics came off the bench this was his -- right he's a top five player.
He's gonna come off the bench for this team so who's passing who's hot who's not and would it would about is there any money left for to get some impact players probably not.
Now is it.
Is it New Year's -- it's lakers heat I think it's Christmas Day Christmas Day -- Christmas Day -- I don't know I'll come over we will what -- watts yeah.
I don't think it's -- newly get a BA's biggest originally thought because it was a minute -- for -- -- my kid was like ready to give up to Canada go to this -- -- my final thought about this is is seen it this season's week too -- -- eighty games.
Who cares what happens early on they know that better than anybody.
These guys are pacing themselves you look at it every member the winter of 2010 -- that -- remember the spring of 2011.
Let him get in the playoffs and -- some -- try to stop those guys by that time we'll find out what kind of potentially.
That you -- -- -- I appreciate having.
Days and months are you happy that they keep -- -- only go to the box -- -- having Thanksgiving -- say to you it seemed everybody else thank you look at this up.
-- -- -- -- Thank you.
We'll be back.
When Baghdad -- countries -- Dow hasn't really moved up 134 points right now.
Shout out to Brian -- against the sit and talk and -- that was good stuff I think so entry -- what's going on right now in the sports world and -- -- say it again it is hard for me like Michael -- even now.
I think there I want to just my kid it's hard struggling when it.
-- MacDonald is here she is not hard to love as a matter of fact he is the greatest when it comes all this insider trading financial world.
Stuff OK so as I mentioned earlier the they've basically made an announcement.
Dragnet and so we're seeing it's one of those expert networking officials who -- research to hedge funds and other asset.
Managers and what's interesting about this cases that.
He's being charged with conspiracy which is easier to prove.
-- -- insider trading charge so that's again low level low hanging fruit for that federal prosecutors to charge him with.
It apparently that Wall Street Journal also is reporting that there has to do with the company called Broadcom in other words.
Was there information leaked about -- comes revenues and earnings prior to the release of those earnings involving this expert networking and an unnamed hedge -- so.
This comes on the news yesterday the breaking news that we broke throughout the day about you know the federal government going after hedge fund such consistency capital.
The big mutual fund Jana -- can also citadel so some terrific additional assists.
The personal at this are treating it as -- -- talked about us up and that really defined it's very bleak.
In and ambiguous the way the law is written is not a gray areas.
But at the same time and then there's a reason for that because the government doesn't want to put a hard and fast concrete definition in there.
Because then lost you can trade up to that definition and still meet the letter of the law but these -- A commitment of alleged malfeasance so you know that the issue is is that.
You know their did did the federal government -- wiretapping and am recording phone conversations.
And so -- at a time when the law is not consciously ambiguous so.
This is putting it that deep chill.
In the hedge fund industry and down on Wall Street when it comes to what's going on so in other words -- now we're talking about.
Possibly broadening what is insider trading doesn't involve research.
When does selling research cross the line.
And I'll -- something if if they're going and as as we've been hearing.
Width with even without -- -- if the FBI is going in also and getting documents out of there they've got something and they've been getting these individuals to let.
By pressuring them by threatening them the government has so if they've gotten them to flip and these individuals.
We've here and heard about 1617 times.
Since January according to an SEC enforcement official.
That people have been cooperating.
That means -- got the goods.
Right it didn't just go marching in there and and get records.
For fear of record destruction.
Something's looking more and miss them that we are curtain and -- we -- know right now but that was you said earlier it's low hanging fruit like -- conspiracy charge.
Right but so I mean and also not talking about hit Goldman Sachs he incident -- we're in a firm that we never even heard of I mean.
To yeah do we can't -- -- and December in an accident earlier his name and -- did not make -- something not making up again Don Ching -- to.
56 year old read god bless you pass at me.
If there mind you the guy from.
Pretty in pink yet what was his name on the island and a banana tree I can't think of what name.
Come on think of it from -- New Jersey.
Thankfully goes by Don too but.
It's not it's not a big -- list and how we make life so -- we're out we just making this even higher in the sky like -- this -- in a conspiracy charge us tonight hey apparently maybe.
You know so good luck with -- -- blow up and so you know what the other issue too with Goldman Sachs is also evidently have reportedly involved.
In that -- this insider trading dragnet poor health care company mergers so.
Let me just give a list of companies that Goldman Sachs reportedly has been in on finds his purchase of Wyatt -- also seen.
You know advanced medical optics in itself to Abbott Laboratories Eli Lilly's purchase of I coast -- of Goldman Sachs has -- it also a key underwriter -- -- dealmaker and then in the health care.
Sector so it out.
Are gonna get the big fish in here instead of just such funds or is it just hedge funds that they are they going after certain hedge funds in particular.
But you and I talked about this the other day and them and it's just said.
It and it reiterated again.
This means we can't talk they haven't defined insider trading to where they go on with this beak right great I want -- Tiffany and I ask them they just report it.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I'm looking at Tiffany's I asked the guy behind the desk what what's -- what do you do in what's what's -- -- the cars in the parking lot to advance their training.
But yeah I wish I could tell you.
-- definition we've always understood.
And covering the cases you know back and forth in the Wall Street Journal.
And that is is that trading on nonpublic information.
To profit off of that -- executive at a company but what did -- didn't know why I was percentage as well like it is not if they -- -- and -- 3% at the -- of -- that stock.
We -- -- in the two movement tear it with material to the suit right stock movement rates the stock moved at least 3% that was can because of information you got that I didn't have right you weren't guilty into a tree right in and they did away with that three.
Percent -- -- rule you know back in the envelope rule.
And so you know so it candidate for -- is been purposely left ambiguous and shot through with -- gray areas of space of thirty years of case law.
Insider trading laws.
Of that and I actually go out -- -- anyway.
Yeah sure does -- we're gonna see.
More than two weeks to come sure absolutely.
But is it gonna go we're -- it we're -- follow these charges charge on these people.
Will they get convicted let it Clinton but I will go to the end again if it -- if this got recordings.
In -- in the mirror the Bear Stearns hedge fund guys -- got off even though they were emails.
You know where they were talking this stuff that they were -- to their clients so you know but if -- got recordings which I think that's what's going on -- that's a heck of that court case you have to happen.
You have to do.
I mean you have rational reason to record right or it's dismissed and I think what happened was again they'd they'd -- and got informants to where wiretaps.
And then they went in there started recording via wire -- via the microphones.
But that's scary -- plaza theory yes yes.
Was in -- you're not scary you know you're the best happy Turkey day -- Thanksgiving to you answered your code -- You do the Italian -- committee can impress the -- played him.
And -- -- on the adult thing -- -- -- of poisonous crop at the end.
Was and I don't Texas Turkey.
Why why would you when he got on another Sonata and editing an eight me you don't know -- I want.
Why not appear to -- why doesn't it well I know -- think it's hilarious bit at the age now I and the vegetarian.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I -- under Amy I drink a lot of coffee.
Which is why I'm so excited for our next guest we're going data DC Martin and they are that is with us president Mayweather -- -- -- -- -- -- Another story because you're you're.
Talk about sustainability.
And your copies organic and basically trying to save the planet with the biggest question I have in the first one.
Why didn't -- -- when you got Starbucks in Mickey he's making making -- for everybody these days.
We know I go to the coffee business in college.
Really out of necessity trying to pick my way through school.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I was able to take advantage of in this country with a great educational opportunities.
And -- -- as a way I could help some countries where I grew up from where I was born.
So want to pass and then really understanding the the marketplace which at the end of the day they're still is room for for a company like us to succeed and thrive.
And it smells like this there's definitely room for you I could read as an all day -- and right but so you're from Nicaragua.
Right yes and yes you.
You saw what it took to make good coffee beans.
And is that what inspired you to say hey I I I wanna do it if I wanna help my country and I bring -- -- Nazi.
Exactly I think growing up when I I saw that burden and the love for the land them love for the community that you -- landamerica.
It obviously it's that struck me as a as a young kid and then when I -- opportunities in the United States.
To really introduce that to the market and do it right with passion and with care for the environment with care for the people that we work with it just -- like somebody had to do.
So what OK so let's let me ask -- is -- differentiate that difference -- and he -- you gave before Thanksgiving.
From a Starbucks which amounts have expanded begin with Dunkin' Donuts and McDonald's coffee is on the rise now green now and is out there.
And what's different.
Well besides the coffee we obviously focus on the high quality shade grown hand picked -- -- coffees we import we roast.
Where the artisans and and the scientists behind that process but at the same time we also understand the business side very well.
Within our niche.
We have no aspiration of of being the next McDonald's coffee -- Starbucks coffee but we have.
A really strong knowledge for how to.
Supplier major national clients and down to the consumer level in a way that benefits everybody involved and still give them a great cup of coffee.
And so finally there's that is really well and can be able to succeed within -- where you get your -- we're gonna get your copy these days.
Well we didn't or -- have a pretty good last week we -- Costco Wholesale whole foods jarred foods.
Sam's Club Sodexo.
We have about 15100 outlets.
In the grocery food service and you know -- world.
As we'll learn shops and my -- a copy dot com which is our website.
Sit even being in -- Costco is is huge because people is go and -- -- and they must by the big Jumbo bag here that we're showing you.
How how well I mean covered bridges -- -- 813 year high how does that translate that to you and your bottom line.
What affects everybody's bottom line in the industry which is you know I guess the one positive you can take out of it from our point of view which is its.
It's an industry wide issue it's not necessarily my organ issue.
So look everybody else about Nick Price adjustments and -- -- to really look at how else we can offset those -- with our operations and and streamline things a little bit.
Because it comes a point where -- there's a threshold and pricing we're not willing to the go past in order keep -- consumers.
You know viable -- and the sustainable.
What countries are you that -- hit -- home -- and because I know as much as where coffee fanatics here in the United States or at least I am.
This countries out there that they they don't wake up to their morning Joseph today.
No we're very fortunate.
My -- coffee that is to be in the United States come a country has such high consumption of coffee.
In a country that's really come around on specialty coffee and understanding.
The qualities about -- of small -- roasted specialty coffee so.
That the man in this country so strong and then it has no -- but upside for us the small -- company.
So if you're not gonna compete with established for the mcdonalds of the -- then are you then in the green -- and I don't know Paul Newman organic.
-- corner of the market.
We're in the Mallorca market we really have seen.
We believe we can be the best in the strongest and that really is again bridging that gap between the farmer in the consumer.
Overlaps with us and and some of our competitors -- the same time we really believe in kind of -- your own path.
And see where opportunity lies to help -- origin whether it be helping them procure pre harvest financing.
Giving some -- benefit equality so they can support the community.
And so -- another -- really we we view our operations as a way to really define the industry and in a way that.
We think is best for everybody involved and from the consumer as well.
-- about the inability of you're basically saying it trying to figure it seemed that.
Yeah -- it's really the premise of why we started this why we work so hard every day.
You know it's everything boils down to people there's a lot of people involved in our industry that work really hard.
Who can always benefit from extra push from quality of the delivered to there to their customers.
-- and that's our -- suitability really partnering with people Georgian.
Pay them a great price for great product and truly be sustainable and allowing the partnership to -- for many years to come on the business side so understanding the business.
Where the market is how to create new opportunities for ourselves and our and our vendor partners as well.
-- and I think -- -- thing is really cool I like is that I'm a coughing that now I know the coming been around since 1997.
Thank you good luck kid out there -- -- cost meaning if you can be much better and that.
My main thing that yet the president and down there and you look really young to be present and -- -- president and there may at a coffee to get out.
Which it's not.
Smells great epic Thanksgiving -- -- right we have Dow that's up 135 -- I don't think it's moved a point.
Pretty much the entire show -- looking to see it right across the hour not -- Terry you're closing in all fired up for Thanksgiving profanity they celebrate and think I'm -- and part of the Thanksgiving amendments a couple of right now.
Have a happy healthy safe holiday we are not here on Friday come back on Monday we'll recap we'll talk Turkey.
