Great to be with you all right -- I have let's see you think it -- jacket.
In fact senator Judd Gregg this morning that he described it at the financial tsunami.
All these things don't make me feel very good but the bottom line is how we fact that.
But the concern is what the stock market is down 50% the lowest point in twelve years.
Americans right now need to have confidence instilled.
Tonight the president could address the nation I'm sure there's going to be a large crowd I just got back from Wyoming people have absolute concerns about this.
We're -- resilient nation we will come back stronger than ever we have to get our financial house in order and the amount of spending that we're doing right now.
Doesn't work -- our own homes and it doesn't work for America.
You know I think Justine your -- when you look at that number is has withheld our -- stood.
This economic crisis better than just about anybody wanna beat -- the statistics because it's actually quite remarkable your unemployment rate in December.
We point 4% half -- -- a little less than half the nation's average and and in Europe for polluters that want.
In almost 3000 vs the average the United States one in 466.
What is happening Wyoming -- these statistics is so terrific frankly.
-- Wyoming gets it right in Washington gets it wrong in Wyoming we balance our budget every year.
We don't do any deficit spending people live within their means that's a great model for America and -- Washington in the legislature I was in the state.
State senate there for five years in Wyoming.
Bills are on a single topic you can't -- about you can't -- and with all these extraneous spending things that would never pass on their own.
Everything really it does see the -- today in Wyoming and Washington just doesn't work that way.
All right senator I didn't fix it I know I have talked to you.
-- all different members senator Chuck Grassley we have this conversation a week ago -- -- all right.
It was partisan politics in this lasting growth package but you've got to move ahead you've got to work together what do you -- do to make sure that the American people believe.
The senate Republican.
I've just is big investment stake in the future at the -- and -- right now and his approval numbers are still impeccably spoke.
Everybody in America has a huge incentive to get it right we need to get it right not just for us but for our kids and our grand kids.
When I was about a high school a camera Wyoming -- students -- who's gonna pay for this another student shouted back well.
You are to the other student that's the concern we don't want this large debt on our kids and our grandkids.
We need to get our financial house in order in the way you do that is you cut spending.
You know you don't wanna diet right after you had the big meal will we had a big meal last week now all of a sudden we're talking about.
Of the -- the largest spending bill in the history of the country that wasn't timely targeted.
At two or temporary I think that this was too big and and really and you -- you really look a look at that -- do we need to do this spending that's not gonna come into play for the next eight years.
OK so we can disagree about you know you or any other member of congress about what you like or dislike about the -- the bills that passed into law.
-- -- Jeff got here by inviting many members to the White House yesterday his thoughts how to address the federal budget deficit.
Easy song -- right track is -- moving in the right direction.
And -- house and senate Democrats.
Meet you half wet.
Well I think that is the right direction to go and I hope they do -- this at least half way the you know you look at that that financial responsibility conference yesterday and at least according to the papers this morning that the Democrat leader senator Reid wasn't there.
Nancy Pelosi the speaker of the house got -- left.
And left early got there late left early so if you take a look at that say.
Where is the -- where is the direction coming from I would hope the leaders in the Democrat party in Capitol Hill.
Pay attention to this fiscal responsibility issue because it is key to getting our financial house in order.
You know -- at the very beginning you said the markets are at levels we haven't seen in twelve years the president this evening will.
Do you you don't we don't want caucus state union but he's gonna speak to the American people in this series -- this -- What does he need to do to bring back -- one confidence and number two.
Com the fear anger and anxiety in the marketplace.
I think you're absolutely right every president needs to instill confidence in the American people -- support that effort.
What we saw last week was secrecy and scare tactics used to get a large spending bill.
Past and I think that that that those scare tactics you use the word fear those are the things that put Americans into grade levels of concern.
Because if they sense that from their elected leader in their president well that's gonna that's gonna go all across this country and ripple across our nation.
We need to instill confidence we are -- great nation we are resilient nation.
We will do well we will come out of this stronger than ever we need to take the the tough decisions right now to limit our spending.
And and I think that raising taxes is the wrong way to go because that's taxes on small business and small businesses the engine.
It drives our economy that is right about small businesses oh my goodness what what what.
You know -- difficult environment it is for them I wish there was more that bill that -- -- senator Barrasso.
Republican -- Wyoming thank you very much for joining me this morning and continue those good numbers in your home state I think we can all do that that be great news for this country.
