-- with math and fooling around with statistics is a long tradition in politics but President Obama took it to a new level at his health care forum when he said this take -- -- -- of health care now causes a bankruptcy in America every thirty seconds.
By the end of the year it could cause one point five million Americans to lose their holes.
Who -- The second -- medical costs related bankruptcy every thought -- seconds.
That would be about 1000000 and 50000.
Per year when the total number of -- -- as last year was one point one million by the president's mass.
That would mean that virtually every bankruptcy in America is because all the medical costs that simply doesn't add up.
President Obama also says that his health insurance plan will not add a single penny to the deficit.
My my next guest says that's also a case of Fuzzy math as Sally pipes is the Pacific resource cannot use -- executive joining me now Sally.
What you did did the math again not to add -- -- -- does it do it will add to the deficit.
Well it -- you will add to the deficit and it's also going to increase taxes.
For all Americans you know when you look at the budget 634.
Billion dollars over ten years for reserve fund.
A lot of people in my business is saying that's going to be probably about a trillion.
And how are we going to get that money well 318.
Billion is going to come.
From reducing the income tax deductions for families earning over 250000.
Raising the tax rate on.
Wealthy individuals -- top tax rate would go up to 39.
Point 6% from 35%.
You know government is getting more and more into health care and it's going to cost us money.
Well I have to -- Why do you think the president is doing this he's got the best advisors in the world he knows that if you do the math there is not a medically related bankruptcy every thirty seconds.
He knows that if you put 600 billion dollars aside as a down payment on universal health coverage.
He knows that that adds to the deficit why does he say these things.
Well you know we've all agreed that we want affordable accessible quality health care the question is how do you do it and his vision is one of increasing the role of government -- taxes.
Mandates and subsidies and I think it's because his agenda is he wants to reduce the uninsured and have universal coverage.
By you know increasing the role of government in our health care and that is his vision.
And it's not a vision of market based solutions to make the health care what is in assisting in this country even better if you just.
All of skewering the fact.
That to do this kind of thing to spend this kind of money you really do have to raise taxes significantly more than just on the top 2% -- he deliberately.
Obscuring that -- thank.
Well it seems to me that he -- no I'm Canadian I grew up under government run health care -- government.
Is the only provider health care I need Medicare for all and I see that coming.
In this country but what happens is.
People demand a lot more health care when they think it's free the costs go way up and then what happens is you have to ration care and we're gonna see in this country.
Medicare for all probably a government run system higher taxes for every one.
And we're gonna ration care with long waiting lists like Canadians -- on average seventeen point three weeks from seeing a primary care doc.
To getting treatment by -- special do we want that in America no.
Mama refugee from it and England but that's another story.
-- -- that's Fuzzy math question we just have from the IRS that the refunds this year a much big.
And we've heard also that -- revenue is much less.
That means that the president's projections of what he's gonna bring in with his tax increases I presume that that is also Fuzzy -- it's not gonna.
-- No it's definitely not going to happen and it's going to destroy the entrepreneurial spirit in this country where all jobs.
Are created so we're we're in for a bit of a ride and I think reforming health care they should.
You know we should slow this down and really look at the numbers and come up with the correct numbers this who's seen a government program that ever -- what a politician thinks it'll cost that's a very good at closing question and for which I have no answer it.
That was by the way Sally pipes Pacific research institute chief executive and the author of the book.
Top ten minutes of American health -- on a -- thanks for much.
