To have people inside who make the argument that the timing was very suspicious.
Just a month before an election when a couple the state senate seats -- place.
-- as governor Bob Riley using the Alabama state police has his own personal task force.
Let's bring in running -- country crossing casino owner he was one of the eleven arrested erotic -- joining us again -- -- been on the show quite a bit.
Over the years that it be you know -- it only struck me that you went after this guy went after a Republican governor rob Riley.
And you said he's after you it's unfair give us your side of the story by the way -- arrested the other day is that right.
About 48 hours ago so -- had better days but it is what it is and we're here today stand strong steadfastly committed to to our project.
With respect to the governor's task force it has been a personal crusade for the last two years.
With respect to the the task force against electronic bingo.
And I must say has been legal in Alabama for quite sometime now and played in Alabama for an excess of twenty years.
Been played since 1980 nabbed by the native Americans since 1992 -- -- native American entities.
And the only ones that are playing it today of the native Americans.
And why -- -- -- some odd years later the governor comes out and forms of all task force.
To eliminate these enterprises -- legal legitimate enterprises that are creating thousands of -- for Alabama -- that cost the taxpayer no money whatsoever.
Is beyond me when all this happen with respect to that task force you were at our project on grand opening day.
We had over a thousand people gainfully employed and looking forward to employ in over 6000 people over the next five years.
Some three weeks after that we were forced to close and all this happened -- as we said that day.
Has been -- hand delivered monopoly to the native American entities that are still playing bingo on Alabama and they're going to be played big on Alabama for the for the next -- So -- not nothing would happen with respect to eliminating bingo or what -- -- -- What what's the problem with country crossing the other casinos far as -- electronic bingo and when the native Americans can -- and it if if I'm not mistaken churches can do it -- is that right.
Absolutely -- eighteen counties within the state of Alabama out of 67 -- That have a constitutional amendment in place that allowed bingo operations out of those eighteen -- there are actually -- that translate to an electronic format of bingo.
In Houston county where our project is that.
It was voted on ratified by the citizens of Houston county in an overwhelming fashion right -- not seen that before.
-- -- -- our constitutional Iraq and and of course now were arrested for that.
-- wouldn't Wear their brides.
Absolutely not none whatsoever on our part.
This is a one sided story and it's a much bigger story here -- please do -- -- is a much bigger story about the indictments that were issued 48 hours ago.
I would invite you to look at the other side of the aisle and you'll see F five politics are in play here or not.
But that we're absolutely innocent of any of these allegations whatsoever -- -- -- -- everybody -- But hey you don't bring the panel and we don't have a ton of time.
You go ahead Monica I'm trying to figure why.
One establishment can't use these machines went when two or three others -- Yeah and it seems that the facts of this case are still very unclear if -- correctly points out so I'd like to let the dust settle a little bit before we start -- are piling on.
The interesting thing here is that this is a bipartisan scandal that was a Republican a bunch Democrats and an independent and well Koppel -- all caught -- that was the question I was gonna hasn't been dealing with a humorous -- these people what do Republicans and Democrats involved with the right.
It's by running.
Let him an elaborate on that just a little bit and expand upon it and that there were all Democrats senator Pruitt just switched parties this last year during this legislative session.
Senator Harry and Smith who was the most conservative Republican senator in the state of Alabama.
Who are project rested in her district.
And by her constituents forced her to vote for the bingo bill she was being kicked out of the Republican Party and is now running as an independent.
And I must say she's living in the polled -- forty plus points.
And now she gets arrested 48 hours ago is the only the only opportunity they've got to defeat her artist you like him that I got out before -- -- take -- to my left Christian that it does she uses statistics this is just you know this is just us politics.
At the state level and it's it's awful.
It provides a lot -- from mid Atlantic and reminds me of Abscam from the early 1980s where you had.
In election years people forget a democratic president who.
Through his Justice Department and through his FBI takes out many democratic members of congress and also state.
Our elected officials and municipal ones and and the whole mess is it involved over the years just.
Gave us a nasty insight into politics and I hope as an opportunity.
We have Beckel on Monday -- once -- do -- that Republicans for once.
What we're word nonpartisan when it comes a calling -- -- -- to me -- nonpartisan I want to make a big distinction between legalized gambling.
And corruption right that -- are there -- police separate issues that we can talk about the down that's -- what you guys talked about.
If people are paying people we're -- about corruption it should be stops my concern though as it's happening elsewhere it's happening now -- Talk about well let me let me go to public finally paid to -- let's interject on our way to do this you my friend we've run out of time.
If I can get that statement guys can I get my producers put the statement from governor Riley said for many months governor -- has warned Alabama about.
That organized gambling as a threat to our state because of its corrupting influence that's exactly why governor Riley has consistently fought.
The illegal gambling interest -- -- statement I have to leave it there -- -- say thank you you.
Yeah responded there you got real -- real quick.
You have to let me or -- the most out well spoken opponent of our BO that let this deal that was not a general bill all the was -- the legislation that would propose a constitutional amendment to the citizens of this state and allow them to make that decision for themselves.
And all the decision that we're going to be making was whether or not to tax regulate and limit.
Legal electronic bingo that already exist here today got to have more the most outspoken opponent you got to listen to me the most outspoken opponent of our project.
Was a representative from our very own district of which 93% of the -- citizens in his district.
Pro family supported our project you know what -- -- the most outspoken opponent of golf activity in Africa.
And the district judge I love the story.
Monday we're gonna do more with the -- you didn't -- I don't think -- weren't we wanna do this again on Monday we're gonna bring the monetization is -- you get the cigarettes I actively support the idea that that that representative is now a judge who was appointed by the governor will do more I promise you I've seen coming up.
