Football return -- 2010.
After taking a year off to restructure.
Joining us now -- Brett -- is just a week ago we became majority owner of the Orlando predators franchise now last year you might remember Randy Arizona revelers here on scoreboard I don't know if -- -- -- but that's where you guaranteed that the -- would go to the playoffs.
And you won that bet because if you hadn't you would have had to give a refund all season ticket holders.
We wish you the best you join us here from Phoenix now -- -- wrong with a league this year.
Although that's an easy one is that the amazing thing -- you when you mention these other leagues.
-- our -- has been around for 22 years we're going to be around for another 22 years I'll make a bold statement I would guarantee the Arena Football League will be back in 2000 intent.
Last year -- the hype of our popularity.
Our attendance we had almost thirteen thousand people per game in the Arena Football League our television ratings were up.
12% on ESPN slash ABC.
Our merchandise was up 4% are Internet hits were all time high.
This was about the economic model.
From an ownership standpoint the last seven or eight years -- revenues of went up every single year but our expenses have risen faster at a faster rate so how how do you change that economic model -- in the year that you have to kind of cool off.
Well what -- -- we need to do is we need to sit down with our partners.
The AFL players association.
We to look at arena lease is we need to look at a lot of different things from an ownership standpoint and were so busy running our teams from season to season.
We just haven't done a very good job of that and we are gonna sit down roll up our sleeves.
March 1 we're gonna roll out a new economic model -- -- to start planning for the 2010 season in March 2009.
It is great because you have owners like John Elway of the Colorado crush.
Jon Bon -- -- that yeah Philadelphia.
Several NFL owners like Arthur Blake and -- Jerry Jones to Dallas desperados these guys are fired up everybody united excited.
This is completely different than anything else that's happened in the economy what's happening in today's economy has created this perfect storm.
And give us the opportunity to address something that we should have done several years ago well I gotta say for those who don't know ticket prices are you can get a ticket for like ten -- right tentative ten of forty dollars.
Yeah we are the most affordable product out there -- we get tickets for ten dollars in the lower bowl most Arena Football League -- arena as I -- tell you this is about.
The economic model and we have a lot of Smart guys in the room a little -- -- our partners -- players are covered up with.
An economic model that makes sense where you have a lot of these teams making a profit.
And I guess I gotta say I'm not only not only are your ticket prices cheaper so it seems that play and I don't wanna pay too rosy picture but it does play into -- recession model.
Where your ticket prices are lower people can afford them it's about the price of a movie and men had to tell -- the truth.
And at the same time -- leases from -- have got to be coming down in this down market right.
Yes yes you know again -- -- we averaged 121952.
People per game.
Attendance is not the issue we have the best fans if you look at all of the business metrics of our revenue its high.
All right everything's almost everything that its all time high it's an issue of just calming down in making sure that we get a handle our expenses and that's what we're trying to deal.
Well Brett what's what's happening to the players in the meantime are argue are you filling up -- filling the the terms of their contracts even I don't know they're not plan.
Yet we're working closely with the AFL PA I can't make comments on what we're doing the conversations were happy but I will having.
But I will say our partners.
Our players are true partners -- were looking forward.
Re engage in working with them in the 2010 season and beyond well you say they're true partners.
If if you're a little cash strapped right now what about offering.
Then literally a piece of the pop.
But I can't get into those discussions the -- with the AFL PA other than.
Although I think they're they're very positive and I look forward to having something and have an announcement by march 1 that's good and now.
Today the year that you're off for its not really fully year.
But specifically how are we gonna see any rule changes are we gonna see a whole new lead come out or are we gonna see basically.
The same thing on the field is we did last year.
-- arena football I believe is the greatest spectator product that's out there you guys have talked me a couple of times before the product is that -- is gonna stay the same.
I think it's going to be better because I believe we're gonna come back with twenty.
Or 24 teams with a lot of expansion teams because we're gonna have.
For the first time ever a fifteen month off season that's all this is don't have a lot more time to prepare.
In plan for the season but those those fans so I mean 1415161000.
People come to the -- howdy howdy -- holed -- Probably I believe -- you know in Arizona the teams around for seventeen years.
The Arena Football League has been around for 22 years our fans have been loyal are looking forward to continuing to have a great relationship with them from 2010 and beyond -- Bret thank you very much for -- best of -- -- were wishing you all the best we hope we have a successful next season.
Thank you very much --
