-- well we have a lot of cuts give that don't have jobs these days unfortunately and they are.
One sector of our unemployed probably the highest unemployed sector right now of our people sitting at home it's really hard -- cause -- to get jobs especially because.
These days they're competing with.
You know managerial.
People who were laid off -- say look I'll take anything I gotta pay the bills.
But that's not the -- -- Ernst and young DM -- -- here -- can't disagree for a young and made it clear earlier that I was I am in the -- Five years from Ernst and young and I was recruited on campus.
When I finished my MBA at -- Unit out there and can't do campus recruiting absolutely out there meeting these kids you look at -- 6000 is that true.
Yeah about 6400 actually so we'll be upbeat in about 7% over last year so we're -- Area very bullish on the market this year OK now these are interns and and full time right so could just be my internship correct -- paid internship always yes we -- and -- and then we do convert about 90% of our interns and full time hires.
The year -- -- when they graduate I I interned Doreen lie.
-- my graduate degree.
And then that turned into full time yeah there's an idiot you must know them well well I am I showed up with the -- -- showed up at the back then we were out loud enough they're still working till midnight every night.
Well we were working hard -- until they're working -- -- the certainly some fun about this.
Which is why -- firms such a great place for college kids to be which is why I think many more people should be carrying majors.
Because you do there's a hierarchy in these firms and inevitably every year -- you need.
That bottom level refit refer read -- reflect Ella.
Absolutely so even even doing the downturn in the last couple years we were still hiring in big numbers so -- in 2008 we were still over 5000 hires Paula and because we don't -- -- that long term view.
Talent that has been we need when our when our older folks retire.
We need people to kind of -- -- about that because it -- like kind of like a -- -- get a big class starting class and then you know you select few make it to the top to partner.
What's different that is making.
You guys wanna hire more this year what he's seeing well couple things certainly some optimism in the market you know it's tempered optimism but it's there are classically back and asking us more more service is not just the -- -- they need like -- taxes -- -- work.
But also discretionary spend so.
Keep me out of trouble make sure my systems -- secure and -- -- disease viruses and affecting our our our corporate financial system for example.
As a missing a lot more interest in our advisory services so beyond just be counting on taking a look at.
Risk management and and you know shareholder protection and things like that those are the kinds of services that it was seeing come back now that were maybe a little bit more apps in the last two years.
Because there was no money to pay for it and because -- did you see that a lot did you find a lot of clients went to smaller firms because they couldn't put the.
No not really good idea by and large you know the service we provide because we're a global you know -- global network of a lot of our clients a multi nationals they find that we have the death of Billy provide them with the service they need to cross border so we were able to retain a lot of our clients.
See you going to colleges and universities all around the country you sit there you interview what is -- need to -- to get a job.
A couple things number one the grades do -- and so that the -- to keep their grades up there resonate thinking we won't know.
Work hard study hard those are important but I'm cutting you off yet accounting majors only what do you what do you -- and probably about.
Two thirds of who we hire three quarters are accounting majors who have to be finance.
I asked MIS IT economic so all of the business related to serve our class -- to the grades are important but certainly being involved we want people that are involved outside of just their school work we want people that are and co curricular activities -- -- -- this war if you're involved in your community.
That well rounded diverse background is what is really attractive to us because that's what's attracted to our clients here you know they wanna personality -- -- when it's gonna talk to them.
Understand the business and be able to -- Yeah and there's a lot and there's a lot of time spent on site at clients in CTE don't -- -- -- -- I totally get right right yeah.
And that's where you are right and -- you brought it every day you know they -- I think it but it's true.
And the beauty of these firms and I lol you know its status till -- -- at a very young age you're exposed to solve much.
I mean your friend the CFO at a really young need -- -- these experiences and it's me.
For me it was an invaluable.
OK so you hire all these people are you still offering competitive -- yes.
Oh yes so we we've -- maintain our salaries at about the same level for the last several years so we haven't we haven't seen a big uptick as -- -- maybe in years past in the early 2000 cerner millennium.
But -- very competitive and I think what's he been more of an attractive to students is that.
We have not disappeared off campus most of the big -- hired in big numbers throughout 200720082009.
-- -- actually seeing a lot of people that maybe would have thought finance was the way to go or another discipline.
Switch over to -- -- select my through the jobs.
It and then make it will continue to be just based on the way you grow in the -- so now let's talk about media -- you guys were at the forefront of this.
First want to face that FaceBook page in 2006.
Well what's different these days -- for me it was you know I had to keep -- resume there was no there was no web contact at all right what's different for these kids now different is that.
We felt the need to be in the places that they were and increasingly they were not.
Going to pick up hard copy brochures like -- -- -- them when you're going to be I think or or go to you know to an office and try to meet someone -- they wanna get their information and different way.
85% of students this age are spending at least a half an hour on social media day.
Why not be there where they are and making giving just the click over.
And find out some information on their time on their terms so we started with FaceBook -- -- we've expanded into Linkedin.
On Twitter and if you pandora is that on my radio station at that we have radio stations on this of -- listen music awards you know you click through find out about jobs veterans -- young.
We don't want to intrude on their personal lives Tracy we wanna just give them an option to come and find us complacent -- are we spending time.
Have you found that there I mean is that.
Break this stigma because there's a little bit of a -- let's face facts of being an auditor -- being an account being thing.
Break there's hesitation to into the college kid yet hasn't spent the last four years through your -- back.
So did that break at least figuratively and if that -- break that -- admit when you a copy come out of the.
Then maybe they're not the -- after all so so would part of that is breaking that stereotype of the the other green eye shades in the sitting your desk behind a computer all day long.
It's just not how it is anymore.
And we wanna make sure they know that even -- -- they decide what form they wanna work for who would industry they wanna -- yeah I think it's again I -- -- you've seen it's an amazing background to have him even if you don't statement partner.
OK so where's the next -- ever -- -- show up that I will be at Monday at Syracuse University.
So we have a little -- HF BI should be a good time -- -- well I wouldn't now Korea.
So bad up there are a lot of accounts one of our biggest or write the New York -- -- -- -- by Syracuse people -- that's picks up our -- so.
Website that they can check out www.
-- dot com or -- on FaceBook on Linkedin on Twitter you can follow us.
And and any number of ways to come in black I'm so glad you came director of campus recruiting for Ernst and young anyway -- sick he's out there watch and look out grammys common.
Is there a schedule events onion on the site as well wait going to be well it will be posted on campus you can't miss -- -- placards with my face Atlanta.
I understand that Blake -- -- -- to come is -- if your -- is coming to go to your career services office that we'll tell you when we're interviewing when we're presenting we're gonna be on campus -- you know hosting an accident just go to career services no matter what campus here on -- fun it's fun job damn glad I love my job and element where.
