Rubio is a Republican running against a Republican governor who has been embraced by the establishment in Florida's primary for US senate -- right now the establishment whether Republican or Democrat isn't polling well and that's why governor Charlie Crist numbers have been falling and mr.
rubio -- have been rising dramatically.
So will mr.
rubio another Tea Party candidates be able to hold their gains.
Let's ask Marco Rubio joins us now from Florida good to see you again Marco thanks for coming in appreciate it.
That's -- me back and congratulations.
These poll numbers are nothing short of astounding and what's most dangerous thing.
Are the numbers on very favorably those who view you very favorably jumped up to 35%.
Of the Republicans polled.
And governor Crist only polls 19%.
To what do you attribute his fall -- -- arrives.
Well first of all let's be clear there were still the underdog we are a lot of road to make up were running against an incumbent governor.
-- lot of money and he's very famous in Florida.
That being said this campaign is not about me and it really isn't about him either it's -- message.
And the message we offer -- one that's pretty straightforward you know the United States is the single greatest society in human history where the freest most prosperous people ever.
Because of the commitment we made the limited government.
The people in charge in Washington want us to abandon that.
And we don't want to -- that -- -- we think that if we do we're gonna become just like everybody else.
So we need to send people to Washington that are gonna stand stand up to that agenda and offer a clear alternative that's what my campaign is about.
And what is it about the governor do you think that turns people off right now.
Well I don't know that people are getting turned off by a person you know this is not about him or me we know that's not the way.
Pol politics not all about a person -- forgive me but politics like television is all about the person you see now.
Well ultimately you have to have credibility on what you're trying to sell but it's about your message about what you stand for what you stand for what will you do.
But what is the reason the compelling reason for your candidacy.
And mine -- that I know I'm the only candidate in this race that's gonna go to Washington DC.
Stand up to this agenda that would basically turn this country and everybody else.
And instead offer an alternative that allow us to be true to our heritage as the most prosperous people in all of human history.
But the question is why people straight.
I mean the president the American people voted President Obama and believing in his message and change believing that he would deliver.
Now they don't believe him anymore and some critical key points.
You have to deliver what is it that governor Chris did not deliver that he promised to.
Well first of all in a Barack Obama did not campaign on expanding government.
The ways expand it and he talked about a lot of other things he never said if you elect him he's gonna spend a trillion dollars -- deficit spending to stimulate the economy.
That's what he's done.
And that's what -- Charlie -- he associated himself with that he supported that stimulus package I think that's hurt him in Florida I think that's -- anybody who -- supported that because it was a failed program.
Government has never been able to spend us into prosperity and -- now all we have left to show for it is almost a trillion dollars of debt.
-- is that the message do you think that's winning right now among Florida voters for you.
I think all across America people understand that we don't do something that's is that we don't stop the direction that we're on and quickly reverse ourselves and headed in new direction.
Then those Americans out there that should the generation and my children belong to.
They're going to become the first Americans to inherit from their parents -- diminished country.
It doesn't have to be that way there is an alternative and what's giving our campaign fuel is the fact that we're offering that alternative -- what.
Let me ask about the Republicans have -- as I mentioned the beginning they of course -- governor -- or at least have up until now.
And it's this idea of establishment that turns off a lot of people people who who feel their privilege because there -- a member of the establishment they're the ones to get reelected.
They're the ones they get the bailouts etc.
-- -- -- If you become the prime -- the candidate the Republican candidate beat.
Governor Crist in the primary.
Have you burn any bridges -- that is savagely because you're gonna frankly have to use them for some campaign money.
Yeah I don't worry about those things I'm sure that whoever the Republican nominee is is -- -- have the support.
I've ever won because we understand how important it is that that our movement -- Washington DC so we can stop.
Some of these things that are being proposed I'm not that concerned about that what I'm more concerned about is making sure that our party stands for something.
Not just be the opposition to be the alternative well -- where you know frankly America saw what happened recently on -- spending bill one point one trillion dollars.
Was voted -- on and three Republican senators voted right along with all the pork barrel barrel -- projects that -- in there.
It's that kind of thing that has to change among Republicans if they're gonna get the vote of the Tea Party folks right.
-- The way exactly because -- -- just the Tea Party folks I mean that's a misnomer it's a mainstream Americans who understand that you can't spend money you don't have and not get in trouble.
-- that's it's gotten us partially in trouble here economically on out a wide economic basis look.
It's not just a growth in government spending -- the growth in government spending of money that we do not have.
The puts America in a very dangerous position and will condemn our children and our grandchildren.
To becoming the first Americans to inherit -- diminished country no one wants to see that there is unanimity and I -- across the political spectrum.
All right Marco Rubio who likes to call himself the underdog -- marker you're not going to be able to continue to do that if you get even in the polls so.
Beware of being the front runner it may come deal Marco Rubio good to see -- thanks for coming on scoreboard against the --
