-- senator John Barrasso of Wyoming says the giveaways have got to stop.
He joins me now.
Senator welcome to the show you know earlier today I had a chance to interview senator Bob coworker.
And I asked isn't this just business as usual in Washington.
It may well I.
Did you go ahead -- -- thank you Charles the pleasure be with you I've watched you on Saturday morning for years and you know you mentioned that senator workers interview.
This should never be business as usual in America it's wrong we should be here debating.
Policies and principles.
Not working in politics and -- and that's what you have with this.
Louisiana purchase all of this money to the senator from Louisiana.
All of this money to the senator Nebraska to -- this is unforgivable I'm opposed to -- we need fairness and whenever you get one of those giveaways.
To the senators from one state into that state it means that the people in all of the other states Charles.
Are going to be paying for it through their taxes and as you just said.
Taxes went up went up.
And now over 500 billion dollars to pay for this Medicare cuts almost another 500 billion dollars.
The president made a lot of promises and his promises are not going to be capped because people are gonna end up paying more for their premiums are gonna -- and Medicare cut.
They're gonna see their taxes go up and even as you mentioned.
Tanning salons 10% across the board they hope to raise two billion dollars when people going to gets -- -- Yeah I -- that that they're -- stretching it there a bit but this whole thing got -- I gotta tell you mean first of all we know politicians aren't held in high esteem to begin with.
But when you start saying they have boats are up -- cell.
That that -- -- the future of our it's our country about children.
They're up -- sell.
How does how do you turn that around forgetting about what party you belong to how do you guys in Capitol Hill finally -- some points eight we've got to change this.
That Chicago level politics that we're seeing right now and Harry Reid said we should has seen more of it.
That's the way he's got -- push this fourth.
So I am absolutely opposed to this but I'm opposed to the bill.
You have senator Harkin on -- describe this bill which I think is a monstrosity.
As a starter house -- he wants to build.
Upon it I think that's a mistake that shows you where they're gonna try to go witness.
This is gonna break the country were at a time where we have massive levels of debt massive levels of -- borrowing and now massive levels of spending.
This is gonna add to the deficit the president says it will not I don't think anybody in America believes him on that so those are the issues that we're facing but I've done.
Still looking to try to stop this bill from passing because I think it's bad for America.
While it seemed like -- this morning also Republicans were resigned to the fact that it is gonna pass so.
This pretty newsworthy that there's still some sort of arrow in the quiver how could you stop it at this late stage because it seems like all the hurdles have been cleared.
Well they're gonna need to be.
Show up with sixty senators for a couple of additional votes there you know we voted to 1 this morning we're gonna vote again at 720.
Then this is still gonna have to go to the House of Representatives of it passes the senate.
And then either get adopted there and sent to the president which I think what is what the president wants to do even though they're huge differences between the house bill in the senate bill.
I think the president is going to you know tell Nancy Pelosi hey -- us this I don't care what -- like it or not they're so desperate to get anything passed.
They're talking about wanting to make history I believe this is -- historic mistake for our country.
In terms of the cuts to Medicare the increase in taxes.
And the fact that people that have insurance -- they like the premiums are gonna go up I don't think this is the way to go for our.
Country Charles -- -- you mentioned that they can build upon this even of the public option isn't a part of this bill.
Do you think at some point wants this or if this gets through they'll be able to attach it somehow.
Well you mentioned sub Bernie Sanders earlier on I mean I think he really did -- -- and his amendment what his hope is.
What his hope is for a single Payer health care system in this country and yet many.
Democrats who were wanting to move from this -- that.
So they see this is just to step along the way and I think you end -- -- with about British style -- Canadian style health care system with additional rationing additional limits on care.
And that's what we're gonna have now governor of government bureaucrats making decisions about health care instead of patients and doctors and I practiced medicine.
For 25 years taking care of the families in Wyoming and you don't want either -- government bureaucrat or an insurance bureaucrat between you and your doctor.
Senator Barrasso thanks for watching on Saturdays and thanks for the plug and by the my --
