-- Marianne marsh she's a principle led Dewey square group which is a public affairs for basin off.
This -- is also democratic political analyst on the Fox News Channel and we're gonna talk -- about this Cape Wind project a lot of noise last week about this Cape Wind project.
One maybe it could be the new Big Dig just a total financial boondoggle.
Are you worried about that well you know it's.
-- Charles I have to say I mean after the gulf oil spill wind power and other alternative energies look very appealing.
But in this particular case you have to look at this project and say you know what it's the wrong project in the wrong place at the wrong price.
And I think that's the big issue everybody has with the Cape Wind project is not only the price because folks on the case pay higher utility bills and most people in the country.
This is frankly is going to increase utility bills by about 59 not decrease them.
And when you look at the way it was cited.
You have to let it raise the whole Lotta questions you're basically taking the statue of liberty putting a 130 of them off Cape Cod in some of those beautiful.
Terrain and an ocean in -- and -- spaces we have anywhere in the world so I think a lot of questions about it now a lot of -- Mary and I got to tell you coming from a Democrat this do you -- like a southern senator on the -- -- yeah.
Yeah I look I area every -- that it -- I think what you see certainly Massachusetts's of their a lot of folks.
-- support green energy jobs and green energy across the board but the debate you're hearing on McCain you're also hearing on the Berkshire put it trying to site wind turbines.
Out in the mountains there -- and I think this comes down to how do you cite these projects.
Where should they go it's not nimby ism that we certainly have wind turbines when I look out my office they see one in City Hall look overhaul.
They're too there there are lots of them cropping up all over the place.
But what you have to ask is is this the best way to do it and what kind of regulations that we need especially when you look at how the regulations have failed when it comes to oil -- area why.
Does this administration maybe it just seems his way to me why they seem to be sold for all wind and solar power yet we don't hear enough about natural gas we don't hear enough about nuclear.
Well I think you're going to start nibbling you look at that Kerry Lieberman bill that was introduced last week and in that encompasses everything.
Including nuclear and I think that's the way we have to go but the fact is no one source is gonna do the -- All the wind off Cape Cod is only gonna make a small dent into the energy needs of just the -- You can say that about everything we really need to look at everything -- comprehensive integrated fashion we certainly need more green energy and we need more of it across the board.
But you almost have to look at it like a start up it certainly making leaps and bounds and I think that the Obama administration -- to make the investment.
But in the long run it's important to do this right because once you put these turbines up places like Cape Cod.
If it doesn't succeed bill stand there and rotten in that would be a terrible tragedy.
Yeah I gotta tell you a -- and -- that -- would your argument sounds a little elitist you know I mean I gotta be honest like.
So -- -- are good for everybody else's those him but not off of our ocean you know we hear this from people of California and other places.
If indeed this is -- shared sacrifice world that we're living in.
It just makes sense that you're gonna go -- the throughout everyone's gonna have to have these wind turbines off their shores and that's at the bottom line.
I don't I because the last thing I guess there myself as an elitist than as in full disclosure I mean I clearly I go to the -- a lot -- have a place there but nowhere near death okay.
I think this is more about the fact that you have a private business Cape Wind -- on its own Willy Nilly squatters rights putting up a 130 turbines.
-- in public ocean using public funds for private profit yes we all have to sacrifice but let's do this in the Smart methodical planned way.
Everyone's gonna start throwing up wind turbines here and there I think when you look at the way France is done -- some other places that Bennett they've done it quite smartly.
But I'm not sure this is the best way to go about it and -- add this one thing.
That -- there's a turbine that Cape Wind -- up off the expressway the major thoroughfare coming into Boston north and south.
And on any windy day it doesn't run they plug it in to show how it would work -- are right so I'm not sure that's the most convincing thing I've ever seen.
-- -- let me ask you this obviously the government is pouring money into this some announcing anything really tangible come out of it what kind of interest is there in the private sector of these people that can actually.
This is going to be -- just throw money at and it's like the government does with is there any interest any big names in the private sector the we'll get behind these projects.
I think -- going to start to see that but I think -- the big money's gonna -- of the New York Times -- a Smart little piece in the business section today about it.
It's more individual -- -- it he'll put the credits out there for folks supposed solar panels on their homes put the money out there for people to.
Invest in other -- -- -- to to generate energy the battery -- business I think is that when you're gonna have cars that you can plug in and recharge at home.
Yet there is a company that you can go to certain parking lots now and recharge electric car and get a cut -- -- and -- for under parking fees so I think there are lots of things out there I think the government is Smart to make these investments.
To get the business going because again it is a start -- -- But I think we need a much more integrated energy plan in this country and I'm not sure we have that yet.
All right a Marion -- thank you very much and I hope what I do come -- the tape got just so let me hang out that I and Eddie.
