All right India and China are about to shut out the lights on the hope planet.
The latest forecast from the Energy Department shows energy consumption will grow a staggering 56%.
Due in large part to those two countries that is a lot of juice in the shale and fracking and save us from a total blackout congressman bill Flores is a -- -- -- natural resource committee welcomed the show.
Congressman -- -- -- with symbolism those numbers are astounding you think if the production to -- about what it.
But we have the capability to have the production to keep up with -- but the ultimate result depends on what happens right here in Washington.
We have the ability to enable.
Huge increases in domestic production and to make America energy secure.
-- 20/20 or we cannot we can do the opposite and cause a -- high energy prices and weak economy.
Yeah I mean -- the Department of Energy is predicting that well consumption goes up 56%.
They think production in the same period could go -- 61%.
So we could stay at -- ahead of it but so much of that.
Depends on continuing with the fracking room in the shale boom that we have seen.
Which do you think that -- do you feel the trend is going in terms of legislation permitting is -- getting.
Easier or harder right now.
Well I would say that we still have mixed results overall.
Right here in the house we've been very active.
And trying to promote American energy solutions and and I mean truly all of the bill of American energy solutions.
But we haven't had much luck in terms of getting those those same pieces legislation through the senate.
And then the president is is going in different directions well -- his solution has all of the only above his -- above the ground.
We believe we need to tap all of America's abundant resources.
Yeah and if you look at the data from you know that's about a thirty year -- that we're gonna -- go up by 56% of you look at that thirty previous years.
Consumption grew by 85%.
So the increases actually slower.
Then it's -- so it you know and await the president is achieving the gold he wanted to -- slowing our growth -- energy to man.
I don't know if that's going to be enough for him how the jobs that this would create how important is that to our country.
Well it's huge I mean not only do we have the primary jobs that come from increased demand out American energy activity.
But more importantly this this abundance of natural gas that were producing.
And safely and efficiently has put us into a position.
Where America is -- globally competitive.
With respect to manufacturing base -- me right in my own history to have a company called Nucor steel that employs about -- people.
And they're globally competitive on the -- what they produce from recycled.
Recycled metal products.
Directly the result.
Cheaper natural gas prices and that this is what we need right here in America as good manufacturing jobs.
-- those of the jobs and build a middle class.
And we need the jobs that go along with his energy at all that we don't have enough people in this country that are trained as scientists and engineers in order tell them how -- we fix that problem.
Well what we need to do is is we need to convince young Americans going into college -- the energy business is a stable business.
Back when I got into the business over thirty years ago it went through booms and bust and is it went through those faces of ups and balance.
The volatility caused young people to say -- that volatility is not for me.
But if we if we can past policies right here Washington.
That show that were in this for the long term then I think we'll have an abundance of young people site.
This is a place -- can go and I can work my career and then I can make a difference in this country and also.
State my family at the same time.
True -- covers I mean how can you legislate about how can you make that happen out of Washington because it is true.
That we do see the price of energy rise in -- you see investment -- you -- -- rig count go up and down.
And response to that so that is a valid complaint of people you know maybe I don't want to get into this industry because we've seen prices bottom out again.
Because this tremendous -- it'll turn out it's not a great shot you can't legislate that away.
We can't legislate away booms and bust your exactly correct.
But what we can do is we can eliminate the government government interference.
That prevents the stable increases in production.
Because of technology that continually -- like hydraulic fracturing.
For instance today there's ten different agencies of the federal government.
That are looking and for trying to find a way to restrict or regulate the use of hydraulic fracturing.
And that's the tool that enables us to be here on this low cost energy environment that -- -- today.
So if he want to really believe and a strong American -- energy future you would stop activities like that.
-- activities like the rate.
-- the over regulation of a particular facet of the industry is what I'm talking about now -- absolutely congressman thank you so much for coming hot.
We appreciate your day with you Melissa yes ma'am thank you time now.
