-- that sound of the wind did change.
Rustling through the job market right now.
This is a place called apex plastic finishing company it is.
Outside Chicago in the town of -- bill Illinois not too far from O'Hare airport.
That's I don't want to talk to the folks that run this company.
Other companies that they've worked very closely with.
The elder John -- -- and Scott and older Brothers.
-- your -- got.
And also pat Dolan I've express.
Which is a temporary hiring firm.
And first I guess I want to ask -- job market right now.
You have hired a bunch of people back the recession is over -- -- -- again which you're not hiring -- full time your hiring temporary swap.
Well because we still have a lot of -- the workforce goes -- -- that a 100% sure.
When we can bring -- -- time had that kind of confidence that you might have had an earlier.
True although it's it's coming back slowly in our -- -- our case.
I want to get more on that but first I want to bring -- This is where you -- -- expresses the largest privately held temp firm essentially -- Staffing firm in the in the North America.
You see a lot of people like this to say I -- I need people I'm not real com.
Exactly their businesses are growing and so they need more people in order to get the product done get it out the door.
But the future and particularly regulatory issues are so opaque right now it's really hard to pull the trigger on -- on full time.
Permanent employees so we offer the flexibility.
To get the work done now.
As the future becomes clear -- of these folks work for you.
It exactly their employees of express.
And then we assign them to our clients like -- Gets you on what happens is if you were to take them on full time -- it for example you'll lose in order hours the economy turns.
Now you -- your response.
Yes that's correct that's correct we always try to keep a certain amount of people through a temporary just to kind of stay with the flow up and down.
Knowing and also we -- attempt reservist a lot to bring in full time employees or permanent -- -- that will eventually become.
On our payroll.
To be clear that temporary employee is a full time of war and are working for -- full time right.
But you don't have on the payroll because if you did you then have a huge responsibility to -- and also gives you an option and maybe try somebody.
Well that's correct that's correct -- -- of these us out of a -- if we do get slogan let him go we're not responsible.
And also gives us a chance of free people and and -- -- to mountain and it's you know most of the people are for you worked out well but then again you have some that don't.
Are quite the right fit for your business and a lot easier to let him go when they're already working as are still employed through a temporary service.
So it's actually no it's okay.
-- -- ask you about how you feel going forward you're the young man in this group.
How do you feel about this business going forward right now this.
I feel pretty confident in this business that's.
We have and -- wall niche here that not too many companies out there doing.
And we -- -- -- the move along quite well.
Some say it -- talk about your niche we just saw at the outset they -- I think they were hand -- -- arm -- you do a lot of automotive.
A lot of automotive yeah a lot of interior automotive the arm -- vessels for a lot of different cars and that's kind of our.
Biggest part of our business fortunately that's really recovered and -- absolutely because it's a little scary to have a major party of business in one -- no matter what it is but.
At least we're we're staying when he busy in the automotive right now speaking of -- -- -- when I get pats perspective on what he's hot right now.
What are the company's the kinds of companies that are hiring where -- the job.
Well in the light industrial manufacturing sector we're seeing CNC machinists in great demand.
We're also seeing logistics continue to grow and improve and looking for people on the professional side.
Light industrial side.
The IT area has gotten red hot continues to do so very tight market in terms of the skill sets needed.
The other thing you bring.
When you go with a -- firm you look at the kind of workers were looking at here right now if you've got an opening.
In this job market -- unemployment still running reasonably high you would get probably inundated with resonate.
Well let that that is correct when you when you -- and -- yourself and people respond directly to the company.
-- -- There yet vineyard than years than -- really reading through.
Sometimes could be hundreds.
Of applications fulltime job for somebody they go through.
And weed out the guys that maybe don't.
Right new company our size we don't have that guy that's gonna go through it you know that would be one of Boston.
Our time is better served as a morale and trying to go through all so cancerous a moment to express.
-- -- call our local office felony we need -- party.
We've got to -- long relationship with them they know exactly what we're looking.
They -- you candidates forcing you somebody if somebody's qualified -- Iraq correct correct absolutely.
There you go still a little bit of I think competitiveness is probably the right word in the market even though -- -- points out.
Things reasonably strong particularly the automotive sector where he works but obviously attempt.
It's a way to go for a lot of companies don't feel we don't feel tremendous confidence right now.
But they still need to get the job done.
