Pushing down incentives for businesses to hire full time as we just talked about.
And problems still popping up this time the computer glitch may allow smokers to benefit under Obama care with more on this.
CEO of vital springs technologies doctor Pate thanks for coming on -- great to have you thanks for heavier again so -- about what's going on with smokers originally obamacare was going to penalize them but now what's happened.
So there's a glitch where people that are 65.
Tom in terms of employers being able to enforce.
The greater penalty the system is not allowing them to charge more.
Then the younger employee.
Because they have the flexibility.
Under Obama care.
To actually change those incentives or disincentives.
To encourage healthier behavior and they just discovered.
But this system isn't allowing them to do that so all of a sudden.
Employers and insurance companies -- out that were banking on being able to charge people for unhealthy behavior.
They can't do that anymore -- -- still it's still if I understand this correctly -- you tell me if I'm correct here.
About a -- said two things at the same time one you can't charge older workers more.
And -- you can charge smokers more well it turns out smokers tend to be older workers -- right that's right and that's really the catch 22 here.
Is that because they tend to be older workers you're gonna now probably find in the interim.
Younger smokers are the ones that are gonna end up paying up.
The brunt of bill well I run you know these are the very people that we want to be involved in the health care -- that's right and to bring down costs -- people.
How do you think insurance companies are gonna react to this.
The freaking out.
-- because they're freaking out for a number of reasons because.
It's their week Pete unintended consequences.
-- if you come back to.
The announce -- of the Obama administration delaying the employer mandate.
Insurance companies were banking on companies in -- sink.
Or being forced to provide benefits so that they can get more members to sign up because insurance companies have to make up for those lost dollars.
But what's gonna happen now.
Suppose that I'm an employee of a small company that says OK I don't need to provide benefits right that employees still wants to get health care you know health insurance.
And they want to go to the exchanges.
Well the exchanges need to know that the employer is not providing -- -- there needs to be sometime.
You're not gonna know that -- hit -- -- we're not gonna have that reporting and what's more now we find out that that person who's applying for that coverage.
There's no check and balance on them either they can take any.
Saying they want Friday night that's exactly right so Friday night they slipped it in over the holiday weekend and said you know what we're gonna allow that on the honor code for it to be -- for -- -- -- believe and that honor code myself and -- -- this -- before.
I thought happened with liars loans in the mortgage -- apple lied about there and come to get mortgages for houses they couldn't afford exact and now we're going to be lying to get coverage.
That in the end we can't afford either and we're banking on dollars from the penalties that are going to be hardly enforced on self reported data right now.
From people that are gonna simply gained the system probably to trying get health insurance.
But this isn't what we signed up for now this is not the law that congress had passed this is not with the American voters signed up for.
And I think it's unacceptable.
That we have a law that can now be manipulated.
And you can choose bits and pieces of that you know can now be.
-- well this would be funny if it weren't so tragic because at the end of the day the dollar's gonna stop with taxpayer we're gonna have to pick up the tab for this.
Doctor Pete thanks for coming on an -- I -- -- not good to see you good to see you -- thank you.
