CNN the news that the handset maker posting a big loss not a prophet as while she was expecting is -- kicker.
But -- -- -- statement doesn't even break down sales numbers for the all important Blackberry ten he must have gadget for the company.
Jim Mormon as a IQ analyst joins us right now Jim.
Give me one reason -- why you would buy this stock.
Well -- and I have a -- opinion on right now so I don't know if I'd say -- right now though.
Pricing and helping out so -- the next question is where is the staying power of this coming at me here I am with two devices right.
Blackberry only because I'm forced to because of work not because I enjoy it anymore I was one of those people that -- I couldn't give up the -- -- did it gracefully.
Right yeah I think that's one of the big problems -- what was the most disturbing part about this quarter.
Was not so much -- hands that's what I Lotta Lotta people are focusing on and probably over analyzing a little bit the concerning part about this is the subscriber base.
You know for the third quarter -- row they've lost subscribers the first quarter estimate they lost around -- a million last quarter three million this quarter formally.
This is -- loyal base the people that have stuck through the hard times have stayed with the old BlackBerry Curve that's probably 45 years old.
And they stayed around for this new -- long promised -- ten but now they're leaving in droves and that's the really concerning part is who's going to be left to continue to by the new handset.
And I just tell -- the BlackBerry Curve when you said that we are here but again by force not by choice right but that Blackberry ten is not cheap.
And so and so you know when you hear have hopefully corporations coming up.
And speaking hopefully -- -- when they're coming up for renewal they might consider moving on to me cheaper device.
Right that that there -- many concerns that -- had with -- because that one -- -- one of -- calls that -- -- -- with this company for -- is the fact he did have people like yourself that -- -- users and I saw them.
You don't want to blackberries you probably your personal hands that you most likely -- touch screen and you'll keep that the Blackberry for the physical keyboard.
On -- you know -- your business account.
With a -- -- coming out that was one of the more promising aspects and I still think there's a little bit of time -- that because.
That is more -- enterprise the vice enterprises are typically much slower for adoption it takes a long time for them to -- the vice -- securities securities filing with the device.
And before they bring an end so that there can be a lag when they bring -- and I think what the concerning part -- the fact that with all the service providers adopt in the Zito and the Q ten.
And now the Q five.
If you're gonna -- bit more of a channel build this quarter than we really thought that was a concern.
You got low volumes are really difficult to make margins on that right they didn't give any guidance or outlook and yet you in your report you do you expect revenue to be up in 2014 because of the Blackberry ten but then back down again in fifteen.
So the future's not all that Rosie is it.
-- I I think -- -- gonna see initial -- it is this they still do have a very large subscriber base that got 74 million people there are a lot of people that are.
Very happy with the device on the specially with the Q ten some people.
There are dedicating coordinate definitely want -- physical -- -- so I think they will do okay with that.
Again the concerning part is the fact that they lose and so many subscribers and with the BB ten platform.
People don't have to stay on and pay the service -- And each one of the man and it's -- even all people huddled on the keyword thing I don't buy anymore because my mom switched over without a problem and she's sell computer illiterate.
Gradually what do you do -- what happens in this company does -- go bankrupt.
I know I think there and there continue to be going going concern I think they'll do okay though we'll be a niche player.
They've got they got big enough base of people stay on but -- it's going to be tough -- and for awhile.
-- Mormon doesn't want.
Doesn't look right.
And I am one of those tool users thank you say Hillary weekend we all are right and that eventually -- -- -- the iPhone and don't you really hope that it all becomes one it will.
