Hi everybody I'm -- -- from the Fox Business Network on the shores of the beautiful Hudson River.
We're going to get you ready for the -- afford New York City -- -- -- we're so it's doubt that you're gonna participate.
We know you have so many questions about the -- up about the transition.
-- -- we're gonna get you through every step of this with a whole bunch of ideas to make -- it's just a fabulous experience a lot let's go to the transition or get started.
Here's the thing the transition area opens at 2 PM goes all the way to 9 PM on Saturday.
But you can't get in here without -- -- on your -- this we'll have -- number on -- -- wanna do is peel off the back you stick it right here.
Or if you're not comfortable with that there's always an option with the -- before race here they'll get an option they know.
Everybody has their own quirks right -- to put it right here as well.
Then you're ready to enter the transition area and -- your -- What you'll do is you will look for the corresponding.
Number of your bike race -- here this number.
And then you'll find it it will be along these -- just like this and you will take your bike.
And then you will -- simply like this right on top of your corresponding numbers that matches your -- number.
OK welcome to your -- staging area remember it's 2 PM Saturday again you can come much later than that if you feel more confident -- you -- wanna hit the big crowds exactly 2 PM because.
Well quick to 9 PM take your time let's go out.
The -- part of the race you can either bring it here believe it or you could put it on the morning of the race at your house or apartment coming with it but either way.
Which -- -- stuff here.
Don't forget your goggles.
It's a little murky in the Hudson River.
Then of course your race had it won't look like this it will have walked before Fox Business on it got where the race at that comes in your packet okay.
Then I have another how does bring another -- just to wipe off my feet in case any grass gets on it if you're putting on your wet suit that's really important.
One last thing for the swim you might -- -- have some off before lubricant because you're kind of pull on that wet suit.
They're friction points I usually put it around my ankles underneath and around your shoulders to hoist up the suit.
And around your -- where there might be a little bit of friction as well.
Now on to -- -- Water water is key with your -- what I'd like to do is the night before I fill my water bottles -- got two of them on the bike.
Sometimes half Gatorade -- -- water other times of water with a lot of ice it in the morning keep cool.
You will be disqualified if you don't have this so arguably this is the most important please people do not forget his helmet.
We like to sometimes just dump all of our stuff that we need in the helmet whether it's here nutrition and right after -- -- U -- not forget to quickly nutrition up.
But of course the glasses put it your helmet put your helmet on.
No head -- you don't want to be our rates and somebody's in trouble and you hit them because you didn't hear somebody yelling on your lap.
So what you need to do was just make sure your helmets all set and -- in the end on your head.
-- something -- really need to tell you because you may not know you're gonna come out about Hudson swim you're going to run all the way back to this transition area and look -- your -- got to look.
It's gonna be grass and mud and all kinds of stuff.
-- -- what are -- water bottles you wash your foot off hears that all of us talking about before it.
You get a try and quickly put on elections -- something simple -- a lot of people actually forget and again they won't let you out of the transition area.
If you don't have this part of your handle -- -- and plug.
Covered like it is now.
It actually happened to me my first triathlon here in New York City I stop -- -- Wait a minute there's a hole here that's a huge danger in case you get -- crash could -- you know what went right so what did -- do.
He took the top -- the water bottle at the summit -- and he stuck it on it ends and he duct taped it all the way around.
He did this on both -- -- plugs and I was good ago -- Front to back here's your -- should be ready and what do you need on this -- it's got to be your little traveling world this isn't.
The call it up until box that holds your nutrition to flip flops in -- and -- power bars what ever you want.
I have all different choices here in case for some bizarre reason one of them doesn't sit well in my stomach on the race.
Hear your water bottles these cages -- got to make sure there really tight why.
Because you're on the west side highway and their potholes it is what it is there are lots of -- I can't tell you how many times.
People go over bugs and right in front -- -- -- water bottle comes off and you got to steer around them so be careful make sure they're really tight not just for you but for other writers on the course.
And finally this little -- behind here.
It's a little storage area that I like to show people.
-- may have trouble sometimes seeing on the race course is about what my eyes at my glasses right in here in case I have to change -- higher.
And I need to see really sharply what's going on.
Which leads us to your tire changing.
Admitted the biggest nightmare on the bike race is that you have a flat tired panic -- mean don't know what to do.
Still we've got Greg he's gonna show us how to do -- bad.
I lists don't worry it's going to be fine you got -- flat tire these guys -- repair kit here better to -- lever.
We got our deflator we've got our adapter and a little mini towards it.
But -- we're gonna go around here with our lever.
We're gonna -- in this -- and get all the way off to go all the way around all the way around.
There -- get -- hole -- -- about that's flat.
There's -- tube pulled out watching all the way out.
Nice and easy -- right -- we're going to take it higher all the way -- you're gonna get your -- to.
Go back in the that's Intel's.
-- already halfway on the you can take it higher all the way off now it's easy we're gonna.
Start back I like to go opposite of the -- makes it easiest and which -- push it all the way back around.
If it tires soft enough you might be able to do this just with your fingers and you only -- that lever right.
I go all the way around here.
And look at that nice soft -- It was a nice and easily find it that last little bit of help and grab a lever to stick -- into the ram and -- right back on.
There -- got tires on -- develop a maturity looks good.
And take mine later to take my adapter.
I'm gonna screw it and all the way until breaks that seal on that CO2 cartridge.
You can hear the air leak out you know pushed onto the golf -- all the way and -- inflates -- ready to -- At what point -- -- -- Reiner and crying no crying out loud out okay now coming here I don't wanna show you might let me set up.
I've got my shoes at my -- in my shoes on not fumbling around looking for them.
I've got my nutrition again -- -- shots now I bring again as I said couple different flavors and he's wasting one -- doesn't sit well your stomach.
I also always scary sun screen because who knows what at the summit would be beating down on your face.
And -- bomb right before you get out on to that race course in the end though.
A list just in case -- panic after the white group Islamic.
Got to have what you think -- lead and of course for me open it you know holding.
So relax we're going to help you there every step of the -- for a New York City triathlon fox business and up before you'd have a great time so we're going to ensure that you do it.
