Joining us now as a former speaker of the house Dennis pastor.
Dennis it's great to have you with us a -- turned -- Saxby Chambliss.
Senator Chambliss said the president's speech today will be viewed by terrorists.
As a victory closing Guantanamo and lifting a moratorium.
On transferring detainees to Yemen.
This is an extraordinary -- about the senator.
Do you agree with.
Absolutely you know we've created.
-- -- kind of -- to make sure that we -- we take these people who are.
Proven terrorists that were BI and the average.
And -- dedicated themselves to destroying the United States.
And 1000 safe place to put them and of course it's been under attack by this administration forever.
But just transfer -- Yemen is like putting them in a ship they'll be back in the system.
Recidivism rate senator -- issues the number 28% of them.
So freed become returned to terrorist.
It we also have written this extraordinary conflict -- -- and in the policies of the administration.
The president announcing.
Yesterday that -- war Americans have been targets and killed by a drone attacks.
-- the same time talking with great passion about the necessity to maintain high standards.
For our court system for terrorists it is a bizarre.
And obvious conflict in the -- if you will the intellectual and architecture of values being followed by this this administration.
As a simply an administration that that does one thing and says something else the American people.
I have -- should they have any intent of reforming their behavior it's been outrageous and you go back the attorney general you know the attorney general's.
Has a record he would just didn't come on the scene during this administration.
He was there doing Clinton administration everytime I said on the committee that there are license shaped chairs today.
And every time that we want to bring Janet Reno up -- ask question yeah and James Riady or ask him about how about Waco.
Or later on about other issues came Eric Holder and -- his own version of the truth and DL he had -- arrogance and audacity.
To challenge anybody -- -- -- some question.
-- and and and not to even think you're giving an answer for example as he was the facilitator of the famous Clinton pardons at the end of his second term as president but moving to to holder.
He's at the center.
So many of these scandals she stands as -- chief law enforcement officer.
In contempt of congress he is involved in fast and furious and that is and it was is activities there.
And his response that led to him being held in contempt of he's involved in the Justice Department's.
It to be kind overreach is an abuse of power whether it be in the seizure of the records of reporters and editors of the Associated Press.
That -- or ration.
And an affront to common sense and decency and truth.
By the FBI agent.
The US attorney and the judge who approved.
Those seizures of records and James Rosen I mean this man.
-- in at the -- the vortex of so many of these scandals.
But you're you're laid out the indictment pretty plain that he is the same guy comes back and -- -- for doing his job.
In congress he he forgets that there's a separation of powers.
A separation of powers and -- to attack -- -- -- you point out.
While he has stonewalled.
Congress on fast and -- he is doing precisely the same thing.
And every other inquiry -- of this department we -- watching the Internal Revenue Service as you well know.
Basically say to him to the representatives of the American people.
Stick it where I I Stephen Miller the acting.
With his head down saying not even raising his hand to maintain eye contact at least some courtesy and respect.
He looks down at the table.
As he replies I did not lie and -- in fact he was lying through his teeth by a -- Look -- go to you know I've been around government -- awhile and around bureaucrats and and several administrations but you know when when middle level.
Government bureaucrats who have a pension and -- and -- and a job on the line.
They don't is to -- these things by themselves that has to come from someplace else.
-- comes from the top down I don't care what they say and what they deny that has to come from the White House.
And coming from a white house of what will we see the oversight committee of the Ways and Means Committee.
Any one of these committees get to.
Get to the truth here.
But you know I think guys who will will work and work and work -- and I've I'm one of the guys have put him on that committee several years ago.
He's a very Smart and he's as a high integrity and he'll go after I I commend them for what he's doing.
-- you are you you are you're Charles well.
Turning to of the Judiciary Committee that -- reported out the -- so called gang of eight in the senate.
Plan are your thoughts about that its likelihood of succeeding to the passage in both the house and the senate.
Well I hit it it may pass in the senate you know they can rough shot and and you know if they try to filibuster but you know I think it's gonna have a tough time minutes and in the house and I think that that's the vulnerabilities are.
Whatever you do on this -- you have to make sure that our borders are secure absolutely -- is sick secure.
Because not only DA -- -- illegal immigrants in and fit felons come up but you also have those folks who -- carrying drugs that are back coming up and so you have to you have to be have a very very tough.
Border provision and I don't think the the -- that came out of the senate has that.
And the other side of that is you know you give the administration a lot of flexibility to administer the law.
And -- I remember back in the days I guess I'm too old I go back to history all the time.
When Al Gore was registering illegal aliens 220.
Vote in the election that all comes back.
Well and it's also why that experience and wisdom is.
It is prized.
We appreciated Dennis faster.
Good to have -- with -- my pleasure thank you.
