What is Warren Buffett buying and selling well we just found out a short time ago his company Berkshire Hathaway.
Filed an update of its stock holdings now those stocks are closely followed by mutual fund managers and individual investors.
All looking for clues about Warren Buffett's investment strategy.
Here with us now to help us break it down and Scott market Martin -- an accent asset management Scott thanks for coming on the show love having you -- So -- I'm gonna break this down into three different groups first starting with that.
-- right in the truth the stocks that Warren Buffett loves they are.
American Express Procter & Gamble Coca-Cola and Viacom no change in those holdings he's holding on to those stocks what do you make of that list.
It's pretty good I I like -- -- a -- Jerry -- -- there's a lot of things that he said over the years and I really appreciate one thing his value is what you get that was what of his quotes is a big value guys we all know.
And our favorite holding time it's forever and the reason I -- -- what is if you if you look at those lets companies you mention.
You could conceivably hold those companies forever and and Buffett says -- and this is something for all of us to take -- consideration.
A lot of the companies he invests in and does so because he knows their business he -- their products because he uses them so -- nobody likes about it.
He knows -- he doesn't like but it helps him see the pluses and minuses of owning no stocks.
Well you know and that's something you said about our investment horizon is forever reminds me of Warren Buffett during the dot com days he famously sidestepped all of those problems.
Because those companies went -- and they went away in many cases.
So down to brass tacks here this is what people want -- out what is Warren Buffett buying here is -- list Wells Fargo a favorite of Warren Buffett's.
Well known banks -- well regarded certainly more than a lot of the other big players.
Wal-Mart which he also loves DirecTV.
And IBM what's interesting there.
The director replay clearly because I.
I just -- satellite TV is a very interesting business in one here is the dad competitors.
In -- you can say whatever.
I don't record -- and or -- is interestingly dead or dying let's say it right because that's the thing I mean there's new technology out there seemingly every month.
That seems to be attacking the traditional medium so.
DirecTV is a very interesting one because but it you look at -- is did as I'm -- -- -- that because directive is eating their lunch so.
-- I guess he's buying the best of some maybe the more questionable I choices out there.
You know when it comes to banking I this is an interesting play Wells Fargo.
I have to tell you when the consumer side they're really pretty well regarded because of the way they do business with individual Americans.
In terms so -- though how people in the industry think of Wells Fargo.
Are they as well regarded as JPMorgan.
Bank of America at how the insiders think about it.
I think they are right I think they're a little bit may be less than that then that level you just mentioned with the other companies but maybe that's a good thing -- -- -- You know how great is Jamie diamonds the life bent over the last two months.
You know I think chairman and CEO -- and yeah.
I'm so maybe that's -- for Wells -- I'll tell you one thing about wells to that Buffett notes.
They're killing it in the mortgage space -- -- they're the leaders so that's what the housing market coming back a great reason to be in the might think.
One other note here there a couple of stocks that were dropped but the levels were so small it probably wasn't Warren Buffett himself doing -- those stocks in general dynamics defense play.
And Archer Daniels Midland a surprise do you.
-- -- little bit the ADM one's a -- A bit of a surprise because you figure with some of the migration to the alternative.
Energy -- is there with go with corn and things like that -- that was going to be a big play.
But that just has not come around I guess he's doing to have a couple of bad ones of course -- -- did -- the general dynamics certainly a cutback in defense spending has hurt.
So -- -- is is bound to have a couple they go all right.
Good stuff Scott and just a note to our viewers here Scott doesn't own trade or do investment banking business with any of these companies.
Thanks for coming on great to see you again thanks so much for the helped and -- -- Jerry.
