Border security and law enforcement suffering another setback today the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Continuing its mark up of the gang -- -- immigration legislation.
The committee rejecting a measure that would require biometric identification or fingerprinting.
To track who enters and leaves the country.
So there's a big.
Big hole in the system.
And it's gone on for years and years and I have to tell you -- -- one reason American people.
Have so little confidence in any promises we night.
Joining us now is Chris crane he's the president of the national immigration and customs enforcement counsel.
The union representing some seven fouls on ice agents and employees Chris good to have you here.
It is -- this morning Lou is a disheartening to you to watch the Judiciary Committee proceed rejecting and rejecting and rejecting.
Amendments that would bring real security to the more.
Lou I mean.
This entire bill clearly indicates.
That the gang of eight did not do their homework they don't know what they're doing with this legislation it's bad legislation.
And when we do you have senators and congressman who tried to make changes that will improve it.
They're just moan and down they're killing everything.
And so I mean I think for us at this point we're ready to say.
You know to America that we need to scrap this whole thing because it's not going to be improved.
And we need to start over.
You know it's kind of primary next to you you can't see it is picture -- John McCain and Charles Schumer.
And behind them wrote Richard Trumka the president of AFL CIO -- big cheesy grins.
And how I can think back and now Dick Durbin -- but all I can think back you know this goes back to McCain and candidate.
The same alliance as Lindsey Graham.
I mean this is quite -- cadre.
Of folks who have no influence beyond their capacity.
Two to link up with their counterparts of another party you'd ever hear from a mercy of them seemingly.
On any important issue unless it's quote unquote bipartisan are being useful.
-- -- -- What do you think.
Yeah I mean this whole bipartisan thing I think is is baloney I mean two wrongs don't make -- -- that's that's basically what we're looking out here.
This legislation is supposed to be so comprehensive.
Doesn't even have up plan for border security regardless of what the -- and they just telling America doesn't have a plan for border security doesn't have a plan.
For interior enforcement and while they didn't have time to sit down and craft plans for those issues they didn't make provisions for.
Gang members to have a path to citizenship they made provisions for.
Extensive criminal backgrounds multiple criminal convictions that they made time to make a provision for them to have a path to citizenship.
They they created a scenario where people can continue.
To -- Commit crimes and be convicted of crimes.
After we've given this given them this provisional status it's it's outrageous.
And you know I've heard the same claims about the legislation or other proposals with a plan and lose form over the course of a decade.
It was defeated in 2006 and seven.
It is now moving forward to it's it seems like it is a a sham whose time has cop if you will.
It looks like it's going to be passed because the American people.
Are incapable of outrage are seemingly incapable of -- serving the national interest and their representatives.
Whether the senator -- -- house seem to be utterly devoid.
Acting in the national interest.
There is political expediency abounding here.
It's a not a done deal wasn't.
I'm not gonna give up on -- yet Lou and I hope that all your viewers.
We'll get on the phone send an email and fax and contacting game -- and contact.
These these senators.
In their areas and let him know.
That -- you know this is not what we need that we need to start this over again that we need to do something this good for America.
And that you know this whole thing of having closed door secret.
Meetings to create legislation.
With the AFL CIO and chamber of commerce and and groups that represent.
-- illegal aliens you know that as Americans -- I'm gonna take that anymore that we're tired of all this corruption and it's time to do this the right way.
I I don't see the outrage -- the corruption that you do I don't dispute which is I simply don't see the outrage I don't see the energy.
Are the capacity.
If it looks to me like the American people are resigned.
The letting go their their national sovereignty.
And being gained by politicians who frankly.
Are not exactly.
Overly concerned with the intellectual integrity level on the ethics of what they do.
In the name of the offices whether -- -- in the senator -- the house Chris -- we thank you for being here we hope that you continue your good fight.
Thanks a lot.
Thank you -- take.
