Looking to solve a problem largely on your own and turned -- into this huge business -- entrepreneurs they are thinking big enough.
I think that.
Some are I think I think the important part about that is.
Having me you know having a big mission but also having the appropriate ambition -- your scalp read this anyway -- -- his first started out.
You know I didn't.
Anticipated becoming this huge business I wasn't trying to do that I was I was really solid something for myself.
And as people kind of gravitated towards that solution and that that thing that was created.
You know I realized there was more to do here in this -- a huge problems that scaling that thing up.
And so now you know the company kind of addresses problems and an even bigger scale but -- I think it's -- important.
Have a balance between us see started from your dorm room at a very young each -- holding other young entrepreneur is back from getting so level that you -- I think.
You know people -- just naturally.
Adverse to risk or you know -- they think I think that.
If there's certain parts of business that they haven't done before like they you know it never started a business -- -- and -- -- incorporated -- and obviously -- things that you know that can become a deterrent whereas.
You know if you just sort of resourceful you can figure out a lot of this stuff in the early phases kind of by yourself.
And that -- think about kind of starting out and and being small is that.
You get to sort of fail in obscurity you know peace throughout some legal documents and getting as I -- -- have partners or whatever.
Easy city it is a lot riding on it you know -- you can you can course correct theory that if -- mistakes itself where at that's.
And speaking of making mistakes one of the things that you mentioned starting out -- that you kind of -- that you took the hiring -- a little bit.
It's more slowly removed without your biggest -- or what or some other -- me.
Think that's I think that's -- -- -- given the kind of look at I think that I.
I've made mistakes in that realm from two guards one.
You know Squarespace was.
-- we've been around for now about nine years now that for three -- it it was essentially just me and twist in that three year period.
Hi it was really really stressed out papers and -- in the -- by myself and I couldn't believe that hiring process for awhile and so in some ways that it got a little excited without a little too late.
In other ways.
When it -- embarked upon that.
You know I I come from a situation I -- I've never really worked at a beer company before I had never really.
Outside Squarespace hired anyone yet and so.
Now I have many more credit tools to use some things to figure out about it is for us again you could fit -- here.
You know how will we work well together then and I did -- about.
Do you have a board of directors that you look to for advice we do now we raised some capital about three years ago and established a formal board.
And so yeah I -- rely on this -- clueless to give a personal board of directors when you were just starting out that you look to.
You know I didn't buy it in the early days of the company.
Yeah hi I actually asked my dad for a lot of advice and he he kind of help guide me -- as -- -- actually.
Anything more than just guide -- -- he provided you with 30000 dollars -- -- cash to get started.
Not everyone has that kind of a family dynamic when he can turn to their family for investment money so how do you get in front of the right people and knock it out of the park and get that investment money.
Our story of fundraising is of course really really weird -- mean it was you know 30000 dollars in the beginning.
Which they need by server infrastructure analysts and small -- campaigns.
You know that it the -- we raised three years ago it's 38 point five million dollar news.
Definitely the treatment and it and it totally different circumstances right -- -- was already growing business and -- that.
It with the early stuff actually it wasn't this sort of like easy process -- just kind of went my patently any.
You know tens of thousands of dollars to buy -- a computer equipment.
He you know is actually a huge fight and I took a lot of time to.
Convince him that this is going to be OK and you know you just launched Squarespace six -- -- what's next for the company how are you planning to continue your growth yet.
So swears -- six months about nine months ago.
Huge revitalization of our platform a complete roundup -- we've never done anything like this before.
I took years to create.
All the lessons of -- five -- before kind of went into this problem it's been.
Canada and a massive success of the company our group -- its completely changed its it's it's going really really well.
And so I think what's coming next is the stuff that I can share it's just really building on that solid foundation you know six is a great content management system that can really create any kind of web site.
But it's usable by both developers and consumers to developers guys like you know -- swears that he needs to create these amazing -- but then we can -- those things to consumers that you just drag their pictures on and -- NN -- -- like that.
Two guys get platform we want to build on it and that's going to be that's gonna mean moving across various verticals we launched commerce two months ago or about 23 months ago.
That's been -- successfully launched counting.
Do you have the ability to have an event calendar on your side about a month ago.
And -- it's gonna keep batting like peaches for restaurants musicians and and news across -- verticals that we care about and you named all of those different types of customers restaurants musician you know consumers developers -- those are very different arrogant.
Target audiences -- keeping them all happy and and giving -- the product that they want.
Well that's actually you know that the most difficult balance right I mean and that's where version six really shines for us because it says.
Very solid core foundation that we can build on so what we set out on -- from one of those articles you know.
You know what menu blocker an -- -- block for for restaurants that they can you know put their kind of content online or.
-- management for band or -- -- for sort it all fits together very well in that platform business kind of engineered to do that was engineered to solve this multi dimensional problem.
Which is really that that the challenge of creating web sites right.

And seeing it very very robust core platform -- noted service is different markets but that's why we created six.
