First let's bring in senator David -- he joins us he wants to end -- the free cell phone program that's exploded under President Obama sets -- great to have you with us like we're joining us.
Fact is there -- thanks for the invite I put it to you.
I can't remember a single government program setting off a 2.3 billion dollar a year program that's being caught ended gone you think you can do with this -- Well I'm trying to think the American people agree with me because it's the newest version of really an outrageous entitlement.
I mean this entitlement mentality is getting out of control and this is a clear example of that few years ago this program when it was limited.
Few true emergencies and land lines was a 143.
Million dollars now that it's free cell phones it's 2.3.
Fifteen times in Queens and it's been verified that there is rampant fraud in the program.
Yet you've got everything going for you.
And I understand -- that the free cell phone program they want to extend it to two free high speed Internet free broadband they want to expand this thing is on this.
Where where does -- stop again to me this is -- clear its newest example of the entitlement mentality.
And where -- that stop and of course everybody who actually has to pay their cellphone bills.
Pays for yet I I think -- getting some traction.
Because it is clearly.
The -- in my opinion it's clearly now an outrageously abused program plot against tyranny did do in Kenya actually get rid of it can you do.
Well that is a big hurdle in Washington because cutting anything here is a big colonel but.
When the American people fully CNN and they're in the process of doing that.
Now I think they're going to be outraged.
Like you and I are talking about another big issue is the fraud here at the top five providers.
Were surveyed by the FCC.
And of the customers the -- entitlement customers of those top five providers.
Couldn't be verified that they were even eligible.
So there's a big question mark about 41%.
Of that there's some like over 200000.
Who have multiple free cell phones clearly illegal clearly disallowed.
Under the program so another big issues is rampant.
Fraud so what's the process do you introduce legislation.
Or are you gonna negotiate this away in any budget discussions this coming up how you gonna -- how you gonna -- But I'm gonna look for any opportunity there is I have introduced legislation to simply end the program.
Period but also look for any amendment or budget opportunity that exists and again.
Once the American people learn these basic facts I think they're gonna support this effort the other important fact Stewart that you know.
Is that any old cell phone it can be off a plan.
But as long as it's working with they working battery it can dial 911.
So -- we're really concerned about life lines if we're really concerned about emergencies.
We can meet that need and in fact a lot of private charities do you meet that need by distributing.
Old cell -- Okay -- David that a Republican Louisiana always a pleasure we wish it unless you're lucky even though I think a lot of people are somewhat skeptical that you can pull itself.
Senator thank you very much of these appreciate banks.
I -- get.
