Tonight we begin with airline passenger complaints soaring.
Up 20% from the year before despite fewer late flights and lost -- now the ever shrinking seats in overbooking your leaving passengers back up.
That's according to latest airline quality rating report a ranking of the fourteen largest airlines in the US.
Here with what you need to know before your next flight Tom Parsons the CEO -- best -- dot com.
And and -- -- the executive editor for smarter travel dot com.
Now and I can imagine that -- public relations people at some of these airlines are gonna take some of the facts out of this story and they're gonna say.
Hey look you know I we're getting more bags there were leaving on time more frequently everything's good but you say that's not all.
It's not and you know just because there's maybe better on time ratings and there's fewer incidents of mishandled baggage doesn't mean airlines are providing a good flight experience and even when you think about it.
You know with with fewer -- flights being late.
Part of that is there's just fewer -- in the sky and there's you know.
It's harder for people -- but there's more overbooked flights so.
You know it's not a great experience for the traveler.
Great experience for the traveler Tom Parsons take a look at some of these numbers.
As we said before customer complaints up 20% to nine warnings are higher and that's because they're flying fewer flights right now more people likely to be told -- We -- you get a ticket but you're not going with us now what do you say about that.
Well I think some of those numbers were seen is pretty skewed by this report.
And anyone look at the number lost bags -- sounds like we saw at 50% drop in -- luggage.
But let's face facts the last number they used was 2007.
And the government never can and controlled the number of banks.
And the number of bags were put on the flight did based on thousand passengers.
Today if he ever been on an airplane the last couple months -- roller bag derby.
No they want to pay the 25 to fifty dollar processing fee for a bag so we're -- bags on.
And you know like great -- 3%.
Give me -- -- up that 90% of America is carrying bags on.
So when you look at has dropped don't yet have Denny's we still have a terrible time of -- losing luggage each.
But even that 3% number and work and no money to lose them.
I -- and -- and answer me this you know I think everybody out there is frustrated with these airlines and you know that's not the fact that you're leaving later or getting charged more for all that means.
And you know whether it's -- -- your bags or whatever it might be.
In T think -- airlines are actually working to make things better are they so consumed with the deet tails of consolidation they don't have time to think about customer service.
They're not thinking about customers -- start thinking about ways to make the airlines more profit of more profitable there you know adding more seats the flight experience -- -- all you don't have much -- -- you know just in the past week they've taken.
This opportunity bathrooms knowledge so they can fit another row seats and you know people people can't do anymore there's so I -- -- and -- mr.
My husband six Terry let me -- associates are too small for him.
Here's a blew me away so virgin America it's your first time in the survey they cannot number and why can't.
-- you know they do -- Point to point travel they don't do like connections.
Like the other airlines do they also you know they have a pretty good mean lean meat base which is New York you know I just say San Francisco and Los Angeles.
I think they consent to the fact that they do get on time.
Then the customers love the video on the same they'll love it if they can -- or buy food in the plain -- right there at plus they've got it.
You know from the -- all that -- it's it's a very nice mainly flying machine.
And I think almost like jetBlue had several years ago this is an airline to be reckoned with than they actually offer.
Decent airfares to at the same time.
-- I need some advice from about the new man starting with TO.
How totally avoid some of these problems what's the deal I mean.
I can't fly first class okay that's ridiculous.
So what we do to get the best possible flight experience.
Well anyone else for an airline that's gonna offer you you know a little bit Mario jetBlue and virgin America had made made on -- got tarmac hi mark in this survey.
Those airlines you might want to consider flying you know -- doesn't charge for that first checked bag which can save you a little money.
-- could just be Smart you know.
And set up fare alerts.
Aren't looking at there's an advance so when you get a good deal you'll know it and you look at before those fares go back up Tom what do you say.
-- you know in Europe and New York City and you wanna go down the for large gal and you can buy a first class ticket for 468.
And you get to check three bags free both ways and get that little.
Poppy a little bubbly on the way down -- why -- and did you set for your husband ideas and about 66 -- inches.
-- pay the 438 and have a little party on the leg on the four -- down.
You get what you -- my hardest glass you get what -- and -- had to make a good point.
-- can't thanks for coming on tonight at fascinating survey and I know everybody can relate to those results thanks so much.
All right thank you.
