San Bernardino California is a city that's been in the nation in the national spotlight ever since have filed for bankruptcy last summer so how can it be preparing.

I mean this is amazing to hand out a million dollars in pay raises Fox -- as Tom solvent.

Is here with this.

Honor believable -- are good -- it rubbed everybody wrong but the problem is is that the the you know their bankruptcy they filed back in August.

Of less than that long already wow and they're still waiting for although the bankruptcy judge -- basically come in and take over.

This is because of the fact San -- like a lot of cities in California is a charter city.

And the charter says in there that are public safety police and fire.

Will be the average of that ten cities that -- that we've marked down here we agreed to so the average -- police.

And fire in all these other cities is what the police and fire in San Bernard -- have to be paid.

By charter.

And end it -- I'm I'm waiting for the bankruptcy judge -- committed just terror the charter what's taking so.

Government and negotiating with tell -- to -- -- is the biggest.

Arafat always pension plan -- have -- been given a chance to go in and see if they can find money in San Bernardino the San Bernardino can't find in their own books.

So they're waiting for that -- a big fight to San Bernardino says we know a 143.

Billion dollars.

-- 143 million dollars and intention.

Calpers says no you 0250.

Million dollars -- they don't even agree on how much everybody's.

-- on how common are these auto pilot if you will.

Wage increases an even if the city isn't bankrupt like -- -- California it's still got to put a tremendous burden because so many cities are in yes.

Yeah it's very common in California and just to give you feel.

The police it's about a sixty mil of that that the total budget percent -- -- was 250 million dollars here.

The police are 64 million the firefighters are thirty some million so -- shy of a hundred million so it's it's pretty close to half of the whole entire city budget.

Is police and fire.

And so they get automatic pay raises based on the charter the only thing it will solve -- with the City Council.

Has had a -- to -- the charter and they won't do it because the members on the City Council that are supported by the unions and a vote let's keep the charter.

So they're gonna have to wait for the bankruptcy judge to make a decision on this come in -- charter and really deal.

With the bankrupt city.

In the meantime it's embarrassing for this.

I mean what -- this is ridiculous beyond words it's it's part of the law until they change the law to contract that only a bankruptcy judge can change yeah.

Prop all right Tom Sullivan thanks so much for breaking it down -- appreciate -- so let's.
