Here to discuss -- other Republicans have learned enough to win the next election we're joined by Haley Barbour former governor of Mississippi former chairman of the Republican National Committee.

And certainly.

The most prominent among -- -- GOP's wise -- good to have you on the broadcast.

-- governor let me let me turn to.

C -- this is these were obviously strong figures Marco Rubio Ted -- all of these folks standing tall and talking about what's got to be done.

While the same time they're being called well -- birds I believe by Senator John McCain another bowl of the Republican Party what say you.

We'll look first of all I think what you just heard marker reveals.

-- -- total sales.

Absolutely.

-- it -- focuses on what Republicans all the focus so.

And that is relative size of things that you're not -- Republicans.

Smaller government lower taxes less spending rational regulation.

Peace through strength.

Open markets free trade.

These are the things it that you're not -- -- Republican -- is no surprise to may lose in.

That if you take that -- -- sixty million people who voted Republican for president -- this year.

But all agree on everything -- -- silly to think they would all agree owner that.

But there are things that generally unite us and we need -- warrant -- -- work together and push hard for what we.

What we know -- -- and secondly to understand that not everybody who is a good first or even a good Republican.

There's gonna agree with you own everything -- my wife didn't -- you may.

-- Well see you could put it that way of my house that -- I have to agree with her.

And I -- that Republicans have lost through presidential elections that -- can -- where.

Governor.

-- the vote totals declining over those two elections last year.

This spending astronomical.

Republicans I think many people are not aware.

Republicans actually out raised and outspent the Democratic Party President Obama.

One point two billion dollars to one point one billion dollars and that's by my by my math governor that's 2.3.

Billion dollars for a job that pays 400000.

Dollars a year.

There's a lot wrong with the arithmetic.

But spending that kind of money.

The Republicans aren't getting much value our.

Well we certainly did give -- value this year this election out they were -- go to war.

We -- -- up not waiting because strategically we lit the Democrats might the election.

Not about the president's record not about his policies which have failed.

But by attack -- Mitt Romney and try to make Mitt Romney out today.

A terrible -- a vulture capitalists a guy who doesn't care about people like Cuba.

A rich white guys -- essential.

Blue Democrat -- to unknown equestrian.

And -- and you know -- We need to let the other side define your candidate.

And -- learn and politics any attack on a -- is an attack this admitted in the minds of the voters.

But notice of Obama's got no got no mandate -- this election -- could run on his own record.

You remember the last deep recession -- President Reagan.

Was president that we came out of the recession with tremendous growth.

Four point 5% seven point 4% four point 1% of first three years -- have the recession.

You don't have anything like -- of the numbers with Obama most of months that the unemployment rate goes die alma.

More people quit looked -- -- for a job than planned war.

That's why Obama could run on -- -- why doesn't have a mandate.

But yet Republicans are dying disappointed.

That we didn't win the election and then hopefully -- or some lessons because the country case I have a lot more policies like the us.

Well you know as you were you're describing me I'm very flattered by the by the thought I look at myself or as.

Four country -- came out of Texas.

And raised in southern Idaho and managed to kind of on my way through the world in this portion -- To have a pretty good career.

I happen to believe in fundamental principles and you you you get to -- your -- -- peace through strength but.

Senator John McCain and senator Rand Paul don't agree on what that means they both say the same thing they mean something quite different.

When you talked about -- limited government I think they both mean the same thing but.

The results are that we have seen under Republicans.

Over the their names are bush rather than names or Clinton or Obama this government increase in size.

I'm not here -- a clear call from the Republican Party governor yet as to.

How they differentiate because you talked about lower taxes yet the Republican leadership in Washington just exceeded to 600 billion dollars in new taxes.

And -- offered up apparently 800 to begin work.

And the problem -- is so encouraged by their generosity that is sinking another trick.

Well let's let's get back to the facts you know lodges jury what what what ultimately did underlying never great great -- -- Americans what to say that without your explain whether you didn't mean to say.

-- what I said was -- factual.

Although bush -- you didn't you didn't know about all the fat whole.

-- -- the Republicans have one house of congress of the Democrats have the other house of congress and the presidency.

They had a choice they -- voted to.

-- everybody's taxes go up.

Although all the fiscal cliff or.

Because they couldn't get the votes to keep.

Nobody's taxes -- go to.

Their choice was would let their -- taxes go up -- -- we just slipped 2% of the people's taxes go up there I don't like that tax increase 662.

Billion dollars.

It's by -- policy -- buy it for the economy is bad for the country.

However the Republicans didn't have the votes.

To stop that so what did they don't -- -- -- of the two other choice we would rather have.

Only 2% of people's taxes go up is that everybody's taxes go.

Why and I understand the the difficult choice the choice that they found themselves in because they've been outmaneuvered.

I didn't think that they were sterling -- -- if you will their tactics further strategy.

But well about -- interaction Ababa actually had already did that by absolve them I'm here on behalf.

I got here Frances.

How well though if it's Francis it's a different kind of deal -- about the -- is more likely to -- about what you'll.

Governor -- that's not very much appreciate all of the -- aren't ready yet.
