As reported President Obama on Capitol Hill yet again today -- the budget.

House Republicans and senate Democrats both releasing their proposals this week but.

These dueling budgets bring us any closer to compromise.

Joining us now my mcinnis president of the committee for a responsible.

Federal budget.

Credit mission you're on here and and good luck with it could it seems to -- that we are more -- -- apart than we've ever -- Let's go through each of the -- let's start with the Democrats.

Budget Committee chairman Patty Murray releases it what do you like about this.

Well listen let's just start with the point that budgets are political documents and these are documents that give both parties the -- say.

What they would like to vote for how they say they would like to lay -- their -- their priorities but they're not realistic reflections of where we're headed and that's probably.

A good thing in many ways tracked what I have a senate and I hate they basically -- -- Become -- -- my as well I am an exit heated negotiation.

Yeah asked for this on the moon and the stars as you know we got -- -- That's true -- also from a political point of you I think it -- something for members to vote for.

And then when it's clearly that it's not that it clearly that's not gonna pass the house and the senate budget -- not gonna move forward and actually become law.

In any form.

Eight bit -- allows them to say well we couldn't get -- ideal budget done so we couldn't afford and compromise but my quite good about us but just backfire little bit because.

You know the -- come out they say we're raising more taxes in that kind of furious Republicans -- -- -- -- -- -- begin with and again get annoyed at Republicans aren't even talking tax increases.

-- it really just goes to their respective quarters in just.

Fumes.

Doesn't everything in Washington backfire -- -- Right now yes and yeah I mean what we keep doing if we keep having moment to -- -- Ford and instead the political process.

-- it's a kind of make things more difficult the budget process is no different it's something that's very political this is a very political week.

That's -- there are a lot of people who know we have to go through this budget process look at these documents but they -- to get down to real business they want to put those budgets aside.

Or take the things that work from them.

And bring them to some kind of a discussion about really what can get done the -- how toxic environment we'll get and -- -- things get really nasty around budget season.

I hope there a lot of members who want to work on this issue and the president has start to get involved again.

I hope that this amount of people can ratchet down the rhetoric so that we -- leave some of the real issues on the table start talking about how to restructure her taxes and entitlements and spending but -- -- I'm hoping for something like that every time a new book.

Issue comes up in DC we never get it.

What do you you're from the committee for a responsible federal budget what would make his budget responsible.

And you're right this is sort of in the season of dashed hopes on that's right we keep having moments -- we really could move forward.

An attack -- that would take steps back what would be serious in my mind is if we talked about realistic.

Ways that we can reform our entitlement programs are retirement and health care programs because we're -- has tried it -- a health care costs are throwing it back.

We need to talk about how to reform our tax code.

Raise more revenues as part of an overall budget deal and look at all parts of the budget in a way that understands.

You can't undermine economic growth.

And you need to protect people who depend on these programs that's kind of a nod to the the progressive and the conservative values that both need to be melded into one budget compromise it's not -- word you're not gonna get a budget done unless both parties are willing to come a little bit towards each other the problem -- my -- it is a dirty word unfortunately down in DC and no one wants to compromise my mcinnis president of the committee for responsible.

-- -- She should be on.

Outsiders on the -- committee.
