My Brothers and marketing.
And I've had the fortune of interviewing people in marketing and everyone has different theories but -- but -- -- number one.
Idea here for -- -- -- say that business isn't likeable that people have bad perceptions of this.
I'm saying that.
In in in the -- almighty they've chased the almighty dollar in the bottom line many businesses have.
I've gotten away from the fundamentals ran an ad in order to -- -- -- more likable.
More successful business person now you have to be more likable.
You have to be more -- leader and I talk about some really simple principles even principles like listening -- parents the authenticity.
Principles that again they -- super simple but as leaders focus more and then we'll see better success.
Okay technique I've learned as an interviewers to repeat what someone just -- to let you know there you're listening in what I just heard you say that listening is key.
Are you saying that -- friend since managers are not listening to the people below them.
No I think managers and and entrepreneurs have lots of ideas.
And then there there are excited to share those ideas that they want to put those ideas -- in the world but the truth is when you're talking.
You can't be learning.
When you're talking.
You're obviously not listening and therefore you can't be learning so the actually the less you talk about your ideas the more you're able to sit back and listen.
The more you can learn and what's business about what's leadership about if it's not about really learning to get better.
And what what about this idea of authenticity.
What do you mean medic has some people might hear that interpret that means if I think something stinks I need to tell them directly -- -- or you perhaps have to Nuance that yeah you know.
My idea about authenticity is this in today's day and age in the social media driven world that we live in now.
-- -- -- -- -- Wherever you are publicly vs privately and online vs off line if you maintain one personality for the same person no matter where you are.
You're gonna be much more effective and actually it's going to be a lot easier -- You know I don't have to worry about what I said to whom because I'm totally authentic and trans parent wherever I go and it's actually.
It's actually really -- Right but when you say likable business.
How does that had -- -- business.
You know do that take that concept for an individual.
To FaceBook -- or to Twitter or to -- sales meetings with potential client.
Yeah well I think it starts in -- it starts with one person starts with the leader if that's the CEO or that a manager of a group.
And that person starts to.
Treat his or her employees.
You know that way and starts to use some of these principles and one thing leads to another and -- change happens when one person that any organization.
So so what are the trends in marketing right now -- do we go through these fees is I once heard someone say.
To me because the world thinks that everything is about spin and this was a marketer -- -- it said.
You should never be about -- you should be about the truth.
But you should never tell more than you have to.
Well I think it'd be -- that.
There I'd like to think there's a trend towards transparency.
And there's certainly a trend towards.
-- so you more use of social media we use of mobile marketing.
And and what what's called big -- up.
And the idea behind the data is thanks to social media we can now.
Find out volumes and volumes of information.
About our customers about our prospects about our.
About our employees and -- -- use that data to build better products to the better services to build better market.
But is as a client of a business -- we sometimes.
-- -- terminates called the paradox of choice we're inundated with that and and sometimes we do it there's so much we just ignore it now.
-- get over that hurdle we've gotta you gotta have some good analysts to read through that and figure out what what makes sense and what and -- and what --
