Waiting and investors giving triple advisory positive -- today with us -- hitting a new all time high and now up 85%.
Since its spin off from Expedia in late 2011 the push higher comes as the company announces that it's the first travel site to reach a hundred million reviews and opinions.
A more than 50% increase year over year with us now is Steve Jobs for -- advisors CEO.
And -- president actually Steve -- nice to see you thank you for being here.
A pleasure okay let's get right to a hundred million reviews so did you guys just a lot of how the Harlem shake -- happy that's what range -- when he hit that.
Well it's really of big thinking goes out there -- all of these contributors the millions that.
Have really helped us over the years build up such a compelling -- of content always reviews these opinions these candid photos.
It's really what makes the -- come alive all around the world.
Now -- is Expedia is sad that you're doing so well.
I think Steve is doing quite well Tuesday I think -- -- -- -- -- everybody can do well in the market even competitors can do well but what about that I mean do they think that maybe if they've somehow incorporated what you do into their model it would have been -- better for them.
Again I think it's worked out extremely well for both companies.
Weaving lived a very happy life within Expedia family and I'd say.
Now he's in the putting both companies have done quite well since -- gonna.
Steve who do you find the people are using that in your web site more through mobile devices this is a big question we ask anybody now who's -- does social media site but your mobile devices or -- -- desktops laptops etc.
Well this stuff is still the predominant usage -- was growing quite fast.
We see a lot of -- -- is well in tablet from a user's perspective.
Looks very similar to the desktop.
Mobile for trip advisor is really fantastic opportunity to develop a great product for someone -- already at their destination already in -- new city.
-- -- -- -- you know we're going with this Steve is some mobile monetization trying to make money off the mobile devices and getting people to look at the ads and click on the ads are you having much success with that where FaceBook struggled a little bit.
It's a little bit different for us because you don't think that mobile is actually replacing much of our desktop usage but rather being added -- with.
Folks who are already in a city in the -- -- they're traveling to generally weren't looking around their computers their laptops to continue their research.
But now they're able to walk down the street open up the trip advisor wrap which been downloaded 45 million times or so.
And still get great travel information literally while they're walking down the street what's the best restaurant mute where I am pretty much anywhere in the world.
Steve we just at a retail -- retired at these spectacular numbers that we had in February even if you take out gasoline still.
When you think -- personal income going down -- people still paying out more money for things like trips it's surprising however.
This retail experts said it focused on the younger crowd that the younger demos that's where the people are most optimistic.
And are most willing to spend more money -- older folks keep their money pretty pretty close to their pockets are you finding the same in the in the trip world.
-- it I don't have the demographic breakdown like that but we did just complete a study of both.
I'm travelers on the side as well as folks in the hospitality industry.
And both sides of the equation said they expect to either spend more or in case of the hospitality industry.
-- -- and coming here so sentiment and optimism is definitely up from where it was before.
-- -- so I'm looking -- at an international footprint that we're really interested in hearing about because that's where you can really have potential opportunity.
Which areas is -- emerging markets is -- Asia where you growing the most quickly.
I would say it's over seven were about 75%.
Of the traffic to -- advice from branded sites now comes from folks who live outside in the USA.
And -- -- Beijing is one of the fastest growing markets for us -- Asia South America.
-- -- because of our existing strength in the US and in Western Europe.
Steve -- it's been a great run Steve let's hope it continues -- copper trip advisor CEO and president congratulations and thanks for coming -- good to see it.
Thanks so much revenue you can do one now -- you make it a 101 million yeah perhaps from -- they both say.
