I appreciate the update according members of congress the president sitting down to lunch with the house budget committee's top leaders Republican Paul Ryan Democrat Chris -- Holland.
And scheduling a meeting with house Republicans on Wednesday this after the president hosted in dozen Republican senators for dinner at an exclusive DC restaurant last night and from what I understand picked up tap.
All of this in hopes of reigniting talks on a broad budget deal -- the president's new outreach plan work.
Time now for -- dobbs -- wonderful to see OT reducing is a good move a good extension he's reaching out European obviously taking some advice from his staff and I.
Hope that you agree with me that any departure from what he's been doing.
Since he was reelected would be a positive thing and I think that's the case here.
His dinner last night with a dozen Republican senators my god that's a fourth of the Republican caucus in the senate and he picked up the tab.
One of leads to I don't know but I will tell you this.
I get nervous when I start hearing this baloney.
Start -- -- -- from background sources at the White House or from the various staffs of the senators.
Saying you know we're looking for a big deal here the president wants -- grand bargain here.
And when you hear that everyone who hears it should be worried.
Because this president is.
-- is not a sudden spiritual convert.
That this man is trying to drive home to things simultaneously on his ideology.
That grand bargain will mean higher taxes and -- higher taxes.
-- minimalist change and entitlement and secondly it will be a strategy driving 12014.
Congressional elections saw.
And anything other than that.
If those twelve senators aren't skeptical if the leadership of both the senate that is Mitch McConnell and the house.
Speaker Boehner.
I if they don't start driving the -- -- the direction strategically.
And cohesive way then the Republicans are going to have a hell of a time.
Come November 2014 now this rather rare outreach by President Obama accused senate Republicans.
And which I've read some of the actually didn't go to the main negotiating Republican -- have to deal with Boehner he went elsewhere is it really of trying to come together is he trying to divide Republican to get some people to abandon the leadership of the Republican Party.
Well Dennis as far as we know he didn't -- speaker Boehner permission is he's sits down with Paul Ryan right now enjoys launch where this watching I'm sure our broadcast here.
-- and he didn't seek permission for that dinner last night.
-- Mitch McConnell McConnell has credit graciously said he doesn't mind -- where the other and encourage him to do more -- And I think probably that's I'll take him at his word.
But if the Republicans don't start and end and then in this other -- lefty liberal politics here we we've got Karl Rove.
I'll -- basically -- the wares of a bush candidacy.
At the very time they're should be you know a little over a little tune down.
On the political rhetoric particularly from those vying for attention is the is that quote and quote leaders of the Republican Party.
If they don't understand your -- -- recognize and react to the fact.
That McConnell.
And Boehner the leaders of the party right now there's going to be greater -- that can be as you suggest great division and great problem -- bigger problem and they've got.
June to mid term election to fourteen how vulnerable are Republicans and let's.
Bringing it Rand Paul in his filibuster into this discussion do you think he helped re energize Republicans even though this was a totally separate discussion outside of the budget.
To the degree that he re energize Republicans will say -- he reenergize those Republicans and Democrats.
Were concerned about the civil rights in this country.
In that's right civil rights is a Republican issue.
And it is a great.
Issue for this part of this senator.
I don't know whether as presidential aspirations -- Rand -- to stand up and do as he did.
In the -- of the senate was great -- it was not just simply political theater it was theater with a purpose and for that I commander -- Can I ask you because I -- yesterday this time we're talking about you had scheduled an interview with senator ran -- at 7 o'clock he's he program what happened -- what was.
That -- he had said aha.
You said he was scheduled to be with a similar.
Rather write.
Right -- -- through speaking and then there we had tentatively scheduled of that could be a window around.
615 we're gonna do -- pre tape of necessary.
And he said he would talk until we could talk anymore.
Who know he gets.
-- the twelve hours you know you're I actually thought man might wanna go around -- for him that Internet address but I thought yes -- held a twelve -- that I -- us senator politician senator whole different deal -- -- they're gonna go longer than the -- -- -- Up.
In most cases three times.
And of course the the house doesn't have the opportunity for filibusters or is going to drive -- but.
He -- I thought was terrific -- I thought it was great the way Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz and you know Iran and all of the other folks -- and stepped in.
To help -- along yielding for questions and giving a man an opportunity not to were catheter I thought that was a very nice thing to do that the good Doctor Who said that you consider that -- -- There aren't over twelve hours you're gonna understand the doctor's good thinking.
It was -- fascinating story development in the afternoon thank you for sharing your Sunday with after -- -- expected that.
So of course you can see live with us here -- navigate this time and -- seven in 10 PM eastern tonight Kansas governor Sam Brownback.
Talking about tax is the economy and the president's attempt to reach out to Republicans.
