And update you on the -- buster the picture you're looking out of senator Rand Paul.

And the confirmation process John Brennan to leave the CIA.

Concerned about the president's authority to kill American citizens -- drones on American -- Somebody for the first three nominees by the president.

This is not about partisanship.

I have -- the president depicting his political appointees.

But I will not sit quietly and let him shred the constitution.

I cannot sit at my desk quietly and let the president.

Say that he will kill Americans on American soil who are not actively attacking a country.

Well joining us now Steven Hayes senior writer for the weekly standard Fox News contributor Stephen page is -- right is the president in effect shredding the constitution.

What's probably strong language but I mean rent laws made these arguments pretty consistently -- -- pretty effectively.

Over the course of the day and really over the course of the past several weeks as -- pressed the administration on this question of of drones -- particularly deal with the ability of the president's it to kill somebody.

To kill an American citizen on US soil.

Attorney general Eric Holder has had so many opportunities to simply.

Answer them.

The man other senators directly unequivocally.

Convincingly.

And is obviously deliberately chosen not to.

Why do you suppose that is.

It's very odd I mean if you know that he he could as he sort of did in fits it starts in these exchanges this morning with Ted Cruz and and Patrick Leahy and others.

You know say well this is such a hypothetical.

In -- and but no we're not gonna do that but he has not chosen to do that actually did it.

This morning in sort of a roundabout way after five or six.

Attempts to not answer the question he basically said no we're not gonna do this.

But look -- it's served its us here is question and I think the fact that they want to now.

Give the president -- preserved for the president this kind of executive authority given everything that this president and Eric Holder have said in the past.

Asked about executive authority is a truly stunning.

-- about for Barack Obama.

I'm struck.

The insistence.

On the part of various Republicans.

That they're going to have an accounting are going to have answers whether it's senator Lindsey Graham.

Senator a -- McCain whomever it senator Paul.

Talking about they want answers on -- -- Those answers haven't been forthcoming.

-- and when this -- buster -- as it surely will.

The Brennan confirmation will move ahead just like out of Senator Kerry and there will be a confirmation.

Because -- Republican Party will at some point find it appropriate to step aside in the in the process.

Why even bother with the theatrics.

Yeah I mean I I think they had hoped that they could pull some of these documents.

Out of the administration.

To get some answers particularly on this question of talking points on the kinds of of warnings that were provided to the White House and others in the days before the -- got the attacks.

And they've as you say they've been that was very limited success the first round of Ben got to documents -- they were so.

Heavily redacted they didn't really answer any questions.

Very seriously we now have an idea of where the edits to these talking points that Susan Rice used.

Were made but we don't know who made them precisely we don't know why the current one never had an explanation.

They're trying to blame press secretaries for crying out -- right that's a little too convenient and doesn't sound much like.

Forgive me Al Gore -- -- -- like even an inconvenient truth it sounds like about it right.

Fabrication.

Of let's turn to that dinner that's going on right now with the president of -- nine Republican senators.

This concerns me as much as anything that's happening in Washington DC not one of them -- elected to represent the Republicans.

In the United States senate.

They are sitting there is a bipartisan.

Effort apparently.

But with this president on a host of issues.

What in the world was going on after the Republican leadership has said they're going to be and regular order there will be hearings if the president wants to move forward there's going to be legislation there will be.

An examination in the full view of the public and then we've got this.

Yeah this going out.

Does -- trouble you.

Yeah -- look I mean I think the Republicans are much wiser to to conduct their business with the president on the open and have these debates.

How the open meaning that then the president can't say as he asked -- he's talked about budgets and he's talked about entitlement reforms that he could embrace.

The White House and the president point back to proposals that he made supposedly in private in July of 2011.

On reforming Medicare on these other big issues.

Well the American public didn't see it if the president wants to sit back have those debates.

Have -- -- public I think Republicans are smaller much smarter to do that a Republican to force the debate where I think I think the American public there was.

Another poll out today ABC news C news in Washington Post my -- the American public is.

With the Republicans on on these questions of spending some good -- -- -- open and sequester.

Our remarkable.

Stephen Hayes has always -- -- -- thanks thanks Lou if you wanna enjoy.
