And tumbling down -- joining me out.
Scott Martin the chief market analyst for united advisors joins me now Scott I thought -- that on the show to Jerry it's -- now hot I used to say granddaddy.
I'm so like now with that if it changes all the time it does -- -- -- number it's different.
Exactly let's get -- what we're here to talk about that which is -- -- -- markets strategist tonight okay what's gonna happen.
I Jerry look.
This is one of those things right the higher prices begin at higher prices which means like you -- with for a one case.
People are starting to -- -- excited about the returns in their stocks.
What does that mean.
That means I think people start putting a little bit more money -- -- start may be getting more aggressive whether that's good or not we can discuss the money chase higher crisis -- -- -- that's what individual investors may always intercity -- and they often get involved it just around late I'm.
So -- are you saying to me then that you think the market is -- -- for -- Eventually yes there's going to be a -- -- we're -- for one right there isn't go to bed prison for a couple of years now.
But Jerry those dollars again the scared dollars the fewer dollars are just starting to come mid.
From a lot of the research I've done recently which means I think we still have a few months of this kind of grind higher market amidst weak economic data out.
A lot of junk in Washington the market so I think does go higher from here.
Are those about some ways you might actually analyze the situation instead of operating -- -- right okay might look at PES and 500 trading at almost seventeen times earnings.
That's higher than it was and it's not considered historically high but coming come on the world is changing the stacks are going.
It's a little rich -- -- -- the analysts' estimates are.
Yeah I do you rely on those are not I mean you're right on a trailing basis that the market looks a little rich.
But look at look at this look at housing numbers housing numbers have bounced back strongly -- last six months not even close to where we were at least as far as starts are concerned.
In 2007 -- household net worth.
Also down from 2007.
We -- kids.
Pretty much flat to down from 2007.
There's enough good things out there to offset some the things you mention that I think are a little bit choppy here.
You said something interesting in the green room that I think people should hear and that's.
People typically take that chase the sectors that were good or bad the last time what's going on here in which people watch out -- totally let's stick to the past I guess big sectors that are kind of hated right now it -- -- in the last couple recessions because they've actually been blasted.
Tac in financials.
Right they haven't done anything for anybody since 2000.
Jerry that the problem with individual investor -- sometimes they think.
The last market cycle winners or losers become the next market cycle winners it doesn't happen there's a reason that financials and -- are struggling.
Vs a reason why consumer Staples consumer discretionary are doing so well.
Yet it's not answer my question -- the market gonna go up or is it gonna go down.
You -- -- added I think seriously when you look at a week.
A month six months a year what do you see the Dow the S&P doing overtime but I get it right you better give me congratulations I don't know I think -- Snickers.
Read it gets better than nothing OK three months six months -- the the market goes up at that period of time that we might have this bad economic data catch up with us.
Stocks get a little bits you're hot -- heavy but I like it for the next short term here next -- short term period.
Okay that you worried about the end of the year right yeah because we'll probably be may be at 151000 and that's when things get a little bit hot -- The F -- with the individual investors thinking okay.
Individual investors thinking I'd been treading water for four years now give me 151000 give me 161000 I wanna make up lost ground which wouldn't be -- -- that could still happen I just think people have to be careful they have to have their head and a swivel with regards to.
Don't just put all your eggs and start raking in now using up 401K money that hopefully the -- aren't done my ex okay.
It's up there all broken smashed an apartment they're getting back together Scott thanks for what I -- not always a pleasure to be very good to have you on sat banks are.
