And for anybody.

That this is a loss for the American people.

Joining me now former bill Clinton Campaign advisor Simon Rosenberg and former Republican senator from New York Al D'Amato and since your next -- -- start -- -- Have you seen anything like this is this just regular old business in Washington or is this different -- -- and worse and.

Politics as usual.

People have disdain.

For a problem most public officials elected officials and -- and they're right they should.

B was a both sides and and I want to say here.

As a Republican.

I'm not proud.

That we haven't come forward.

With the kinds of of the tax.

Changes it can and should be may we look like to party of only that that millionaires we defended the millionaire's tax.

Wouldn't -- -- stupid.

But there are things that can be done carried interest where people are.

-- are making are paying.

Had the lowest tax rate when they should be paying the highest tac but at first if this element was 41 dollars in tax increases for one dollar in spending cuts.

You're saying that revenue was your bigger concern -- -- spending now let me -- -- -- it to to follow.

A number one I just mention one thing carried interest you could say point eight million dollar -- not -- damn region in both parties shouldn't come through and just an act.

That one thing.

And started take it one -- -- thing after another.

Let me give -- spending cuts.

-- -- -- -- -- All right -- make a pretty -- livelihood.

-- very substantial one and pay appear Medicare aren't why should you be paying for my Medicare I.

I agree -- -- let me give me another one Social Security.

You really think about parts and has an income of 500000 dollars or more that they should be getting Social Security.

No that should be for people it's not general why put it in -- it's an insurance policy could find itself whether any of politicians gonna have that.

The courage to make an argument like I'll let us sit rose -- it's -- simple things in Indiana is Jack passage on both parties and let me tell you.

The president.

He leads the way intended jackass is because he has a moral responsibility.

To stand up and stop politics.

The election result that -- one now how about doing the job for the people.

Simon Rosenberg take fat from.

Go ahead -- have to hard to follow Al D'Amato and certainly but -- couple points I grew the president that this was a dumb act today one is.

We got to return to regular order we have a process for developing a budget every year but Paul Ryan and lead his party in the house the Republicans believe in him.

Let him you know Kraft -- senator D'Amato said a Smart Republican conservative budget this year let's go back to regular order to.

We're gonna have slower growth this year the economy is -- you know has been struggling we know that right -- cover that earlier segment.

This guarantees that we're gonna maybe half a percent less of growth that's not good for the markets is not good for business.

Third is that I do think what's gonna change now.

Is that the American people are gonna understand the Republicans -- -- -- understand is that cuts involve real pain.

Tax increases involve -- cuts involve real pain and I think we're getting to a healthier place in this debate worry realized.

We need a balanced approach this is gonna be hard we got to do it in stages and I hopefully as I agree the president hopefully this leads us to a better place okay -- couple close.

I'm gonna follow question for you -- advisor to Bill Clinton and I met the man.

And you know you look at President Obama and then recent weeks he with -- play golf he only had a meeting with leaders today the day of the cuts.

If this for Bill Clinton as president I would have to -- he'd be there at the White House arms -- all night sessions and meetings with both parties bring -- -- people together.

Why is President Obama so -- do you disagree with that observation.

Yeah I don't think she's just -- I don't think that's that on the -- -- fair I think I think that look Washington's a tough place right now the Republicans.

Don't like the president is incredible animosity towards him there have been sit downs he offered a plan they rejected it right.

There's been -- -- back and forth there's -- -- communication going back and forth.

In the in the building now -- dishonest but I think that it is going to be important going forward now.

That these leaders -- maybe today was the start where they really are forcing themselves to get in the room it's not just him -- it takes.

OK to tango so to speak senator I gotta get them back in the room and and work together you just heard this incredible animosity against President Obama.

It seems like of of president supporters paint him as some victim I've heard no personal attacks I think this is a policy fighters and out.

Let me tell you what you're going to see next the next thing you're -- see there's the long lines.

-- at the airports and are gonna say about how these cuts have I have heard America you're going to see daycare.

Which is not provide 88.

And preschool programs which are heard you gonna have every bleeding heart program there is and by the way did you good programs always taken away from it.

But -- -- kick it down to do the job.

But into it.

The do something about the growth in the entitlements all the while we can't do that -- we don't wanna that sacred cows.

Wanted to go after Wall Street.

Why don't you make sure that they do pay their fair share and you wonder why people hold politicians indeed staying in a lot.

The people right.

And an if you don't have -- carriages or Republican or Democrat of course was -- sound policy things should get out of office all right thank you so much for being listener to motto.

Nice job love the passion and thanks also to Simon rose number --
