-- -- -- With more on this Republican congressman Jason shape -- have you talked.
Congressman welcome back to the show it's always good to see you here.
Do you think people have lost their minds on this whole story adding that the coverage of it has been unbelievable.
So disconnected from the real numbers.
Well the president's been running around that the country campaigning that that the sky is falling.
You have Homeland Security taking an unprecedented move in releasing people that were being incarcerated for being here illegally.
You have Ray LaHood the transportation secretary saying that he held we're gonna have these long lines that that TSA and.
Essentially illustrates that hearing people it you can't exactly -- already are and how would you respond to something Arnie Duncan said on CBS.
He was apparently telling people that teachers are going to be losing their jobs that they would be they would be.
Out of jobs.
By September and implying that it was the cause it sequester.
And then when he was pushed on this later he said you know I don't really know.
That what does that tell you.
That is the administration has been invoking a lumber of scare tactics.
That simply aren't true because as you pointed out if you look at the net spending buyer federal government.
It is essentially the same as last year in fact it's gonna go up just a little bit because it had this rapid rise.
In mandatory spending for the entitlement programs yes -- cuts to discretionary spending the brunt of that is is in the and that defense sector.
I voted against the sequestration I think it's a terrible way to do it but the idea -- were actually cutting some spending around here.
You would think that there earth is is falling apart I'll -- I have to do.
This I now I've I've never seen such debt.
A crazy reaction -- and I'm laughing but it's not really funny at the end of the day.
Because I think you're absolutely right this would not be the preferred methodology any of us would wanted to -- But look at the end of the day if we can't cut the budget now will we ever make cuts.
Well and and that's the problem remember since Barack Obama took office in -- now.
The president has added nearly a 130000.
New additional federal workers to the federal payroll.
So you going you look at though my gosh we're gonna have to cut this -- look at the rapid growth that happened over the 48 months before this.
That's what gets lost all this -- Now here's another look at the leftist gonna say we were bailing out of a dismal economic situation and and that's their response I have to get -- to something else though.
What's gonna happen congressman what do we get some other kind of new plan on the table that something happened on Friday Thursday Friday do we see anything new.
Public the president has spent the last couple of weeks trying to scare people.
But now he's called the meeting asked for the speaker of the house to go down to the white house on Friday after -- -- gets invoked in the end we're going back toward districts.
So no I don't the next thing that will come after this bill will be they continued resolution there we discussions.
About how we fund the government through the end of September and then the big thing that we really have to.
To get busy budget we have not had a budget passed out of the United States senate for.
For like 14100.
Days and so I -- if you don't have a -- you know you're gonna solve at least on heartland -- Over -- they want to see some resolution they want you guys to get on the same page -- You know I didn't wanna say the -- sequester on our network because people hate to -- so much I mean they wanna see you guys.
Behind resolution.
Well -- we believe that the president has said look we want a balanced approach -- he got his tax increases.
Now it's time to cut -- spending -- -- in -- to some fiscal sanity here but.
We spend as -- federal government about ten.
Billion dollars -- day you just can't keep doing this.
In perpetuity and expect to have the results now that we all deserve.
Which is something Alexy what's wrong with your statement fiscal sanity and congress in this same send -- -- now yes 600 I don't Javed thanks for coming on tonight.
-- expected to be clear.
Thank you.
