Are well it's a soap opera at department stores styled Macy's and JC Penney -- and epic legal battle over the queen of home goods and be Martha -- MA CC EO Terry -- it took the stand saying -- actually hung up on Stuart after she called him with the news of her JC -- deal.
Stewart takes the stand next week Jim -- -- and is here with his take on the case.
I mean Jan this is just like you gotta wonder I mean is it worth plane over Martha -- at this point.
Well I don't know what's worth fighting over but I think it'll be a good product for pennies whatever they finally wind up with.
I think they'll wind up of Martha Stewart pantry.
The lined up with some goods in the paper wrapping things like that area and then I'll call the rest -- what would've been Martha Stewart every day when they lose this case.
So I still think it's good for them in general I think it was an okay business for Macy's up till the end.
Getting kind of run its course but you know yes I think they still wanted to keep but it wasn't perhaps the hottest new brand out -- but it was a good stable solid brand for their costs.
-- -- -- claiming that they made her pretty much issues today as far as all that stuff goes but I think at the end of the day with the pennies customer in particular.
If this -- goes on sale they're gonna buying it's not really it doesn't really matter who makes it.
Well -- -- certainly brought her back from the point of view of renewing her business you know after things were so difficult after she was -- in person.
Yeah and so that was a big deal I think to Martha there was a big -- Macy's and help them build that home business.
Now at pennies they're trying to have more of a Macy's customer little high -- little younger.
That's really not -- -- my opinion -- but this is the poll pennies customer and I'm sure they'd like to have a lot of that'll pennies customer back.
Let's talk though about these retail -- -- stocks in particular consumer confidence we actually saw better numbers and we thought at a Macy's in and we.
Yeah absolutely Macy's had a great number that came out -- 205.
Earnings for the quarter nobody thought they'd be about to write to including me the street -- -- 99 they have a great January.
Nobody has a great January in retailing are but they did.
Well they have the week of one of also apparently that works that's up about JC Penney quickly say -- -- -- seventeen Y that you going near this.
Well I was very negative on pennies from the fresh -- meeting at 43 dollars a share all the way down to seventeen I felt really Smart.
At seventeen dollars they said they're not going broke the shops will work they'll get better at the back end of the year it's probably time to take a hard look at them.
Could they go lower when they release really horrible numbers tomorrow yes they could.
But I still think they're an interest in buying the seventeen -- -- -- up over twenty bucks maybe their little less understating.
But they could be a thirty dollar stock this year they get positive comps in the.
-- -- heavier Lotto ticket Barack -- Jen Rogers -- and thank you for being here and wait now he Humphrey Hawkins.
Thank you.
