We're back -- option Gordon Chang I'd like to share with you by may.

And let's see that full screen pre -- -- quoting up from the the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee senator Dianne Feinstein.

Reacting today to -- to this report saying this is a sobering public report.

All the links source the Chinese military has gone infiltrate and -- American companies clearly demonstrates the need to pass cyber security legislation.

As soon as possible.

Gordon Chang you're laughing -- as I wrote that.

What in the world is going on when -- -- response.

Is we got to pass a law.

It's even worse -- that what she wants is an international treaty to ban cyber attacks you know the Chinese -- -- sign treaties and agreements they sign a lot of them from human rights to trade or you don't wait wait wait.

That there's there's a law against doing this right now.

Isn't that sufficient.

Well it should be you know and and clearly what happens is the Chinese don't.

Under any of these agreements what we really need is strong American action we don't need another treaty.

The problem is these big Communist states don't honor their treaty obligations let me.

In our dean they also and if -- -- I wanna I -- show this element of what she had written as well.

Talking about the fact that the Chinese appeal -- were not only going after date and and valuable information but obtaining.

-- if we could see that quote please.

Obtaining the ability to manipulate American critical infrastructure.

Are the power grids and other utilities.

-- -- this is.

This is sinister stuff is -- not dating.

-- little look at and I'm sure Gordon can tell you the same thing.

This is not new at a classified level I would I would tell you that senator find Steen and her colleagues knew this 34 and five years ago the -- -- got -- -- your partner because.

You have no reason no this perhaps.

-- Gordon I've been reporting on this for over a decade.

We this broadcast has carried out a segment called red storm rising warning of precisely this.

We go back on this issue I'm talking at least a decade.

-- as you say it's not new but what in the heck is this sort of wait like response from our government.

I'd like I'd like to tell you the scene that I think the Chinese are playing they're playing the seem.

Between our government and our private industry we live in a free society -- inherently -- that.

There's eight revulsion if you will to government interference within our private networks and that the Chinese know this and they're playing -- seem.

Between our ability to get organized at a national level -- national policies -- national unified commands as we now have.

Finally -- Sybercom.

And and they're playing that scene we have an inherent revulsion to private networks letting us again.

We also have a bunch of folks who -- be scared of their shadows -- -- -- we're talking about a trade deficit.

A 315 billion dollars last year with the Chinese -- you talk about FaceBook and you're talking -- You know Google whomever -- may be or apple most recently -- We're -- to -- those companies or dependent upon China for their manufacturing.

I mean they have limited.

Very limited.

-- area -- to respond we've got one point two trillion dollars held by the Chinese.

We look like we're being strangled with our own money and clearly you know we do not need to do with our own -- yeah we don't need to do this.

But the one thing though I think this administration has this -- you know you talk to the Chinese.

Things will be better.

But you know as we've talked to the Chinese about cyber hacking the number of cyber hacking incidents have gone ups they spiked dramatically in the middle of last year as the administration talked to China -- businesses vulnerable -- just point and our government right now is vulnerable and are being just relentlessly attacked dean.

What is the answer.

I think the the answer is really a a deeper level of organization.

We have to formulate offensive policies with regard to our unified strategic commands.

And we have to treat this as if it were a military attack on the united this administration's already said that it will take these kinds of attacks as an act of war.

-- what we need to do is -- the Chinese where they are.

And that's going to be their increasingly fragile economy we -- you know their economy is tied to ours if we start inspecting containers at Long Beach.

Those ships are going to be backed up halfway across the Pacific the Chinese will get the message.

And now and is always happens with however boycott or sanctions.

You know a lot of people heavy price for that.

Appreciate -- being with -- project thank you -- Wednesday pops thank you were.
