Benjamin Carson doctor.
So -- you're famous doctor.
But now that you're you're famous in the political world everybody wants to know about you everybody wants to meet -- did you realize that the reaction you would get from your speech at the prayer breakfast.
Well interestingly enough it's the same things that I've been saying for years but.
I guess because of the the national exposure and the fact that the president was there.
And there are a number of people Hussein that think that any time here in the presence of the president you have to.
Kneel down and and be obedient and certainly not say anything that might be construed as.
Not in agreement or what he believes.
And that of course sounds more like a monarchy -- that the sound like America so yes I was surprised to see the degree of attention.
All right so at this point have you had political people call you -- say doctor.
Let's start a campaign have I've heard so many -- -- it.
People say oh my gosh we need -- and -- there was a Wall Street Journal opinion piece written doctor Benjamin Carson for president.
Interest and -- I've been hearing that for the last twenty years to be honest with you.
And -- it's it's not something that I see as part of my future but as always say.
You know my future is at God's will.
And if cigarettes are better tolerance is this is what you need to do that's about this but that's that is not my intention at this point.
Have you been contacted.
By hook or by god by political -- -- -- Democrats Republicans people in Washington.
Campaign officials anybody like them.
Yes.
Well it have to realize that a few years ago that the governor of who is running for governor of Maryland Ehrlich.
One of either and it's this.
Running mate I was an interest that then.
They try to get me a run for senate.
I was an -- -- then and now I hear all this about president.
And of course I'm still not interest -- but I am very interest fit and helping our country to right itself.
And I've gotten so many letters and emails and phone calls from people from all over the country just massive amounts.
Particularly older Americans it really -- my heart when they say they have given up from our country they didn't think there was any hope until they heard what I said.
And you know I have to continue to it took to fight.
And I hope that there will be many others who was showing me.
And not be scared off by political correctness and by the forces that simply want to attack any thing that even begins to.
To challenge them.
What we really need is the ability to have fair and open discussions about different alternatives.
And the multitude of console is its safety we have to recognize that.
I.
My radio show I had a doctor.
The doctor Benjamin.
Was his name from the Atlanta area called and said that he was African American.
And that you were.
The MLK.
Of black doctors in this country that's -- how he described it.
Your reaction.
Well well.
Any association with MLK is a wonderful association I like that but.
-- I've been fortunate to be in a position.
Where a lot of wonderful things have happened.
You know I do have some talent that god has given me but I also -- associated with many other people with a great deal of talent.
And the reason that we've been successful is because were able to amalgamated those talents.
Use what everybody brings to the table it's not just about one person.
And anybody who can recognize that is well on their way to success.
How did you get out of the get -- I think the key thing was.
Having a mother who believed in me.
And made me -- they return off the TV they've stopped going outside playing all of time and made me read books.
I didn't like -- I gotta tell you but after awhile.
I actually begin to enjoy it I couldn't wait.
To get -- read my books sometimes I wouldn't -- I'd be standing at the bus stop I've been reading my -- sometimes I'd miss my.
My point of getting off the -- -- so that's that in the books.
What -- -- go into you know they gave me a lot of perspective.
What where did you.
But most kids need some sort of mentor worded wore white white medicine what -- Well I used to listen to a lot of -- stories and church and so the scope.
And they frequently featured missionary doctors it to me seem like the most noble people on the face of the earth.
Traveling all over the place at great personal sacrifice to bring not only physical -- mental and spiritual -- to people.
And a I didn't think that there was a greater calling them that.
There are people that are already I mean you you you're not far from Washington you know that.
The political poisonous atmosphere is amazing and people look about and -- shame on you.
That you should have you were rude to say those things that you said about.
Taxes and health care and things like that in front of the president of the United States.
Well you know those are people who think that we have an imperial presidency.
They have forgotten that the president works for us.
And that the senate and the congress works for us and that this is -- representative government.
And that is supposed to be four of -- by the people not four of them by the government.
They simply have forgotten or they never knew that perhaps they should begin to read a little bit.
Well it's a it's a pleasure to -- you I hope we hear a lot more from you you've you've you've caught you've touched a nerve.
It is a national nerve in this country a lot of people were very interested in your thoughts and your ideas so doctor Carson that things -- much.
