President Obama pushing to overhaul the immigration system arguing that the US economy is stifled by the outdated law.
Now we've got somebody who says investors can make money off immigration reform.
Distinct idea here -- the top ways to trade change in the laws Roger -- he's endpoint technologies associates present Roger good to see Iraq.
A lot of folks in silicon valley of course of the -- to -- this story by the way the high and the well trained immigrants and the low end which will talk about as well but.
Andy Grove who buy him by the way his himself an immigrant from Hungary.
At Intel used to talk about this all the time that you really we need this country end and -- -- -- particularly need those.
Those high end trained.
Entry level employees and so I imagine Intel would be one -- trade right.
Right Dave absolutely Intel -- a large semi conductor maker and didn't need scientists of the first caliber -- there aren't that many government -- whole world.
We have a lot of them here in the US we have a very good educational system.
But -- is also very Smart people outside the country and we'd like to employed pretty much every one of those we can get.
Roger what is your assumption about what immigration reform would look like perhaps we we back up a little bit and look at that and then we start to figure out where you feel the real stock -- -- Well right so if you look at immigration reform there's kind of two elements to it did people -- about a lot and one of them is the high skilled.
Laborers in the others who have not so skilled laborers.
So what you've got is a large number of people who are already here the low skilled category and there's a question of regular rising them somehow.
Figuring out how to will pull them into the economy -- amended tax payers -- contributors was also securities.
And then you got a high end guys behind guy who seems to me that should be -- no brainer.
Except Obama wants comprehensive care in the sense that he wants -- all -- that warrants as not care but do reform.
And so the issue is he'd we'd like to just say -- What the top guys -- and that's a no brainer we need don't we like them they'll make a lot of money they'll contribute to the economy they'll build industries don't pay taxes.
They'll do all -- great things for the economy so there's no question that they'd be good contribution.
And that's where you politician right about where you feel that the Intel's in the -- -- the Qualcomm C and videos of the world might do well but if we wanted to flip it over to.
-- not necessarily the -- but why do you feel that that say for example of Google or an Amazon may benefit from immigration reform same reason.
Right so that the the other they're too good categories where the where these highly skilled engineers and scientists are needed one of them -- silicon manufacturing and been designed which do what we're just talking about.
And the other group is -- the software vendors so the large ones FaceBook Microsoft -- They also hired just all the Smart engineers they can possibly find and you know there's jobs for Americans it's not like they're taking away jobs for Americans.
There's so many jobs going begging for this kind of talent that you have enough for all of the people here and all the people you can get from outside -- -- You know what -- -- look at his seven point 9% unemployment which is much too high -- you think she the last that we need are more people in that.
In the employment pool but there are these categories where we don't have enough.
A doctors the medical field is another one we have a shortage of doctors right now a lot of people say that with the onslaught of obamacare and the need to cover.
You know millions of more people in in our pool we're gonna need more doctors and of course.
Foreign doctors could fill a -- bears well.
Absolutely so you have a situation where high skilled labor from outside the United States -- find jobs.
So there's lots of jobs that are seeking people and can't get them unless there's immigration reform.
And then there's a lot of people here who are seeking jobs and can't get them because essentially there's no jobs that fit their skill sets.
Well then we go to stocks that you didn't necessarily pick but but we thought might be interesting because if your plan does come to fruition and we have a lot more.
-- foreign workers.
They need to send money home and and would be for example the money transfer names like MoneyGram Western Union -- just went public today jumped 159.
Per cent.
Up because they're number one clients are foreign born workers who are sending money over seats.
Right I think that category really speaks more to be less skilled labor set because in fact they come here and often send money home.
I think that the high skilled immigrants they they may do little of that but they tend to move here bring their families here by real estate here.
And look a lot more like other Americans I think the immigrants in the lower skilled category.
Tend to just sort of hang in the lower rungs of the economy do the best they haven't take money and send -- home words really needed so they're two totally different situation.
They are but we could all make money out of both the high end and the low end -- based on what stocks we buy as a result Roger -- good to see you my friend thank you very much appreciate negative.
