To view -- markets with congressman Tom Massey now congressman Massey is taking experience he has the -- of -- tech company putting it to work con.
Capitol Hill over Republican out of Kentucky freshman congressman joins us from the hill right now and we talk congressman all the time.
About this cold intersection of kind of you know business and politics but why would someone like you leave the business world.
An end to this crazy political worldwide to do it.
But that's a good question before we talk about way.
How the business world translates to the political world.
When they first say a lot of businesses common stance and that's what Washington DC he needs more so I came here.
To bring some common sense that also concerned for our country.
Bet do you have.
A lot of people.
As Republicans we have a problem with messaging we talk about job creators.
Most people don't get up in the morning and worry about the job creators say don't say right -- job creators doing today.
Bad as it previous job creator I think I have some experience bring to bear -- unique experience to that I think is more insisting that talking to someone who ran just today.
I don't use the term run of the mill small business but something that's you know -- -- traditional business whether it be retail.
Store something like that or somebody who worked on Wall Street all these types of experiences are unique in their own way but you're MIT trained engineer the company I believe was called.
A sensible technologies if patents things -- invented.
And and all this kind of thing so I mean you're a different type of business person is you look at the fact that the 29 small business owners in the congress that's fine this.
There's there -- I did those people are already there but you're unique what still set well and it will be frustrating night for you and what you're used to dealing to bring that skill sets DC.
Well let me Taylor bit about my business my wife and I started it in our married student housing dormitory at MIT right we grew it from scratch we boot strapped in the beginning.
And we started out as an escort and you know you heard some talk -- on the fiscal cliff negotiations about how escorts who had taken beating.
And I understand exactly what what we were talking about when we're talking about escorts because the first year my company -- Made a profit the government came and he took half of our retained earnings that was my operating capital I didn't even have -- sitting around to pay them I -- it.
To do some extraordinary measures to make my first tax bill that years because I was using that for capital writes you know -- -- obviously are important to you that's one thing.
I saw entire side much is maybe immigration obviously -- from Kentucky said.
Do we do thank goodness have some homegrown engineers here in this country but then other people say to us -- we -- stories about it.
We need to be able to get some of these people that come from overseas and educated MIT and other places to stay is that something you'd be working on as well -- now.
Absolutely and -- big supporter of the stand in the you know Visa reforms stand stance for science technology engineering and math.
My company wasn't always just my wife and I we grew that we raise venture capital we had seventy employees and we still had trouble finding the right skill sets.
So you know we need to be able to bring those workers into this country that have those skills as advanced degrees in science and technology.
We're gonna lose those jobs to Canada -- -- China our overseas so we need some reform and in that area for certain.
Congressman messy wanted to have -- today calves and introduction and to see about your background which as -- said is unique and we hope that you'll come back need to talk more in depth -- some of these issues in the future but.
Congratulations and done well to have you back okay.
Thank you -- forward today congressman Tom message Republican at a Kentucky -- -- said by way of MIT and started his own company and everything else meantime the American.
