-- what we -- just hours away from president Obama's first State of the Union Address of his second term many expect the president to be well more aggressive tonight and challenge Republicans on.

Several key issues including the economy and jobs.

So how are Republicans prepared to respond to the president's challenge when joining me now Republican congressman -- -- -- Of California.

Congressman thank you for joining us what are you hoping to hear from the president tonight.

I'm hoping -- recognition that in fact this anemic recovery that's gone on from last four years.

Stems from instead of reducing taxes and reducing the burden on government.

That is typical in a recession.

We've been affected piling on new spending in new taxes and it hasn't led to new private sector jobs.

My hope is the president who wants a legacy of job creation will in fact talk about getting.

Government out of the way something that he wasn't willing to do in his first term but needs to do now.

-- there are those that say -- well without worrying about being reelected he'll be more aggressive he sees the GOP is vulnerable and split right now how would you respond to that.

-- employers in America are vulnerable the for the employees can't find a job the person who isn't getting any overtime because there isn't as much work.

The person -- -- seeing the profits of the company go down.

-- go up.

By in fact cutting labor is realizing that this is not a recovery that the employees participating in.

And wants to know how they -- so if the president wants to be aggressive against Republicans find.

But he's got to be for the worker for the people who are seeing that in fact job creation is anemic.

And -- -- -- he's got to change the nature of employment in America and -- nature of our competitiveness around the world.

Something that didn't happen in the last four years -- needs to happen now.

What he did win some concessions that the Republicans over the debt ceiling debate do is that more compromises.

Of secular -- when it comes through negotiating from this point -- from the Republican Party or they get a hold thumb on.

Spending cuts before tax hikes.

Well actually.

Basically what was recognized by leader cantor and champion.

Was that it did agreeing to cash the check.

-- you've already written has never been the place for the argument it's not about the debt ceiling per say it's about the deficit it's about the continued spending.

And if we're going to make the American people able to create jobs we're gonna have to lower than the rate of growth of spending we're also gonna have to lower.

This insane amount of new leg legislation that -- -- regulation.

That he's in fact stifling growth.

Creating certainty for the employer creating opportunity for the employee.

And I think that's what the president needs to talk about.

I'll look I'm all for the president talking about his passion for new government programs for right now with -- forty plus percent of the budget being borrowed there's no money for new programs there isn't even enough to cover Social Security Medicare.

Medicaid and the Nash and the national debt service we run out of money before you run out of entitlements.

That's what the president's backdrop is for tonight's speech we run out of money before we even run out of entitlements we have to pay.

There's a lot of anticipation.

About the Republican response tonight.

From mr.

rubio about Florida sent senator Marco Rubio.

What do you hope he couldn't state obviously is his opportunity if it's really -- the case of the Republican politics.

Oh absolutely Marco Rubio.

He's like a young Ronald Reagan he believes in America's greatness he knows that -- we can get government out of the way.

Americans innovate Americans create jobs that Americans can create opportunity for not his first self.

But -- help the rest of the world that's part of what makes him such an optimistic person somebody whose response to the president wanting more government is.

Can be no Americans want more liberty they want more opportunity that they create.

And I expect that that's going to be a big part of his response.

Not saying no to the president but saying yes to the American worker the American taxpayer.
